Acceptance speeches

Acceptance speeches are the speeches given by a member who has reached the Premier rank for their town. If present at the GSM, it is customary for the person to give an acceptance speech. This page contains all acceptance speeches, though may not reflect the spoken versions. Members who are not present at the GSM can send an acceptance speech to the Head Administrator (currently SimonScholar) in advance of the meeting to be read in the event of a successful promotion, or they may send a speech afterwards to be posted on the website.

"Well, I've been playing on this server for as long as it's been online. I joined on the third day, I remember, and I've been incredibly impressed with the community and the warmth. And you know, I'm only just glad that... I'm not glad about the recognition, and the importance of the project, but more about the friendships and the relationships that started from just joining a server. I'm a very shy person, so I would have never imagined to go this far. And I'm glad that the project is getting a final recognition. I'm also going to finish the city very soon, so that's a... just thank you, I don't know what to say!"

Two years and five months. I’ve passed a lot of time on this amazing server. I’ve made new friends, and I don’t regret any single minute I’ve spent on it. One of the things I’m most proud of is of the work I’ve done and of the people I’ve made happy. I now have the highest rank of non-staff players, and it’s an amazing objective. I’ve been demoted a few times, but that’s helped me to become more mature. I’m now a better person, a more friendly person. People may think Minecraft is a waste of time, but this server never stops surprising me, and I cannot live without it. Next objective? Well, helping grow the buildings, and moderator sounds like a good objective. Thank you to all of the players of the MRT, for making my days on this amazing and unforgettable server. Love you all. P.S. Still waiting for the pineapples to take over the server… CortesiRaccoon

Promoted on December 24, 2015 for his city of Whitechapel.

"I cannot take the credit for Whitechapel entirely to myself. I have been exceedingly lucky and blessed with people helping with this city, with a lot of help from people that are still here and people that are long gone. Without their work, Whitechapel would be a poorer town.

Now that Whitechapel is endorsed as one of the Premier Cities, I would like to take the time to thank people.

Thank you to everyone that contributed to the city, from those that helped with the start of the road system with radioactive center lines (To date, no one has reported they have had terminal cancer from those, so that s good!), to those that put down dirt blocks after dirt blocks with no clue what the insane mod was planning, to those that installed major puzzle parts of Whitechapel (especially the Airport, the Canals, Sheepshead, Sports District, the Rail Yards, to name a few puzzle pieces).

Thank you to everyone who willingly let me create a large rail hub out of Whitechapel using totally unproven technology, and to allow Whitechapel come closer to your town. My hope is to make CitiRail actually working and functional by the end of the holidays!

Thank you to the staff for the honor of adding Whitechapel to a prestigious list of premier cities such as Arisa, Achowalogen Takachsin, and Airchester. It is a list I am honored to be part of.

Thank you to Frumple, for running the server (if it wasn’t this type of server I wouldn’t even consider building this city. Imagine Whitechapel in a survival server…). Also, without you, we wouldn’t have this special community to be part of.

As for the future: Whitechapel is not done as is. It is far from being done, really. Look for more development, major events, and surprises hidden in Whitechapel. It is the least I can do for you all.

Again, Whitechapel is but a collection of dirt huts without all your help. Thank you all.

Promoted on December 25, 2016 for his city of Kenthurst. The speech was sent in for February 2017 GSM.

Dear everyone,

I came to the MRT server on 1 January 2015. On that same day I started building up the area around MRT station XW10, hoping that one day my city would expand to the coastline and have a port. Since that first day I have come back to this server again and again to work on this one city for over 2 years. I thought I’d give everyone a brief snapshot of the history of Kenthurst.

The central part of Kenthurst surrounding XW10 MRT station is the oldest part of the city, and all the builds there are the original builds that I constructed in the first month of being on the server. I also built an inner ring road to set up the skeleton for my city expansion.

About 5 months in, I decided to construct a large ring road around my city to establish its new boundaries (now the B79 outer ring road). This was a big challenge as it meant that I had to fill in most of the empty space between the inner and outer ring roads. Slowly but surely I created district after district, including the New Commercial District (supertall skyscrapers), residential district, estates district, sporting district, Kenthurst beach/port district, Kenthurst Fort, and an airport. I decided to also build a canal system within my city, and this required a fair bit of planning especially since I had to retrofit the canals into some of the existing areas of the city. In about August 2015, Mississa Bay (around XW11) was also given to me by hnt and decorminecraft. I have expanded the original township and integrated it into greater Kenthurst. In mid 2016, Central Park north of XW9 was established as an exhibition of the best terrace buildings on the MRT. More recently I have been putting more detail into the buildings throughout Kenthurst, building parks, constructing roads to other cities and building general infrastructure within Kenthurst.

Throughout my time on the MRT I have been supported by many generous players who have contributed large and small to the development of Kenthurst. Ideas for what to build next were sourced from other players, my own imagination, and Google Images (honourable mention). I have invested much time to create a city that tries to have a healthy mix of high and low density districts, with a futuristic theme, while being in harmony with the natural landscape. I spent much time planning to ensure that the city would look realistic and well organised to visitors and locals alike.

Thank you everyone for your support in attaining the Premier rank. I especially thank Frumple for creating such a wonderful server and for facilitating a close knit community.

All the best for 2017 and beyond.

Love from Alik

Promoted on October 28, 2017 for his city of Segville.

After playing on the server since pretty much the start, It’s honestly an honour that I’ve been accepted as one of the Premiers. Being not an exceptionally good builder, I hope this sets an example that even with mediocre skill, enough effort can still be recognised with the highest rank possible. While I hope to carry on with Segville in the future, I hope this also allows me to help others around the server, working on more community projects. Right that’s the speech done, if you were expecting anything better, blame the staff who gave me 20 minutes to finish this speech before the end of the GSM.

Promoted on January 21, 2018 for his city of Evella.

Many have died, in the pursuit of perfection. But that was a risk I was willing to take. Evella has been a journey, from the very beginning. Those that knew me before the switch to Gamma, knew that my city there was "Sublime", a city very similar in style and scope to modern day Evella. With Evella I sought to finish what I had begun with Sublime, a modern, brutalist city. Quick to rise, faster to fall.

Evella is the combination of thousands of hours of my work, and others. Evella would not be the city it is today without the franchises that garnish the city streets, and the businesses that form the core of this financial behemoth. So thankyou, to all of you who put up with my bullshit and put a Franchise in Evella despite my oppressive building regime. The city, nor the server, would be the same without you. And not you but thankyou to the people who visit or present at the Evella Expo. I can promise that you have not seen the last of the Evella Expo, and I seek to make Evella the number one place to be for major events.

Thankyou for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful community, and thank you to the staff that voted me to this rank and giving me recognition for my labour of love.

Promoted on January 21, 2018 for his city of Elecna Bay.

I’ve been on the MRT for just over three years now, and when I first joined I would never have expected myself to end up where I am. The people I’ve met on this server are some of the most amazing people, and some friendships I’ve made on this server are going to last way past the length that this server. To me that’s one of the things’t that’s the most amazing about this community, and some of the things people have said to me when I’m not in the mood to continue Elecna Bay and to get me to continue it, and now I’m Premier, I think I can really appreciate everything that everyone has said to get me to where I am now. So thanks!

Promoted on May 5, 2018 for his city of Quiris.

My time on the server has been a genuine journey. I have had my fair share of ups and downs, just like everyone else but through it all, I can say that it has been an exhilarating journey. I would like to thank the most wonderful community, for their continuous support and in particular Kel, the staff and the many others who have contributed to the establishment of Quiris. Personally, Quiris is more than a rank to me, it is the embodiment of my inspirations, therefore, there is no doubt that I shall continue to work on the city. I have hope that Quiris will perpetuate my inspirations and that there will be many other premiers cities to come fourth. I would like to end off by wishing each and every member of the community the very best. Thank you.

It has been a great three years on the server. I never would have expected that I would reach the top rank (other than staff) back when I joined in late 2015. This is a great community full of very nice people and incredible cities, and I am glad to have been a part of it!

Promoted on April 14, 2019 for his city of Venceslo.

Wow, Premier! A year ago I would have laughed it off if someone said I was to get Premier for Venceslo. For those who haven’t read my wiki user page, I joined the server in late May of 2017, for the sole purpose of being able to build a city in a place where other people could actually see it.

I’ve built plenty of giant cities on Minecraft PE single-player before this, but Venceslo is a completely different animal: it’s the first city I’ve ever built with furnished buildings. My building skills have improved so much over the year and change that I’ve been here, both in Minecraft and architecturally in general, and I am truly proud of every single building in Venceslo – because I hold the distinction of having built some aspect of every single building in this city, which I feel has made it feel very cohesive, unique, and truly my own.

HOWEVER! All this couldn’t have been possible without the help of all of you. And for that, I have my utmost thanks: for those who helped me expand my city, for those who just toured it out of interest, and for those who simply gave me a compliment in passing: all of that helped me be able to push through and make this passion project my proudest achievement across all my Minecraft mediums.

I would like to thank all of the residents of Venceslo for their residency, all whom furnished their own house. Thank you for making the city feel that much more unique and lived in. This would not be possible without your help.

And a very, very special thanks to these people: Chiefbozx and AP_Red for so nicely admitting me to the Southwold region and allowing me to associate with their great cities; _Dulles for allowing me to build a city that was admittedly very close to Downsview (and then letting me take it over from him); mjpwwf, Frosty_Creeper10, and knowmads7 for giving so much help and advice to me even though they don’t hold an executive position in the city; and of course, JTrain77, for being my trusted Deputy Mayor – even if you aren’t online that often, I really appreciate your honest interest in this city, and your constant help with its expansion through the first couple months of its existence.

Now what? Will I keep expanding Venceslo, or go try something completely different? I don’t honestly know yet, but I’m sure we’ll all find out soon. In the meantime, it’s an absolute honor and a privilege for Venceslo to get to hold the highest rank of city on this server, along some of the truly great cities who I have looked up to for so long, and it warms my heart to know that everyone on the server loves and appreciates my passion project as much as I do. Thanks a ton, and as always, Go Padres, Visit Venceslo, and Find the Red Plane.

Promoted on April 14, 2019 for his city of Utopia.

1,718 Days. 4 Years, 8 Months, 14 Days.

I've been part of this community for such a long time, it has become so much more than that to me. When I found this server for the first time back on August 1st, 2014, I remember honestly coming on to look for minecraft servers to troll (Yes, I was one of those kids.(Frumple plz don’t demote me for that kthxbai I’ve grown and don’t do that anymore)). When I joined however, I found a growing, thriving, and loving community based on something I love; trains. I knew that from the outset, even though there were just a few people on at that time, that I’d come back.

Fast forward a few months, and I saw that this minecraft server I messed with a few months back has finally updated, and has a lot of people on now, compared to when I first joined. I went on, and was overwhelmed by all the new changes, and wanted to get started building right away. I quickly got citizen, and after a little bit of me going for some homemade land-scarring, I was right back to square one.

I rode the MRT south, and found a nice little a neat little, open, flat area along the Desert line, and immediately went to work. From there, a whirlwind of expansion, road building (shout out if you remember uMet and/or the cyan clay/acacia roads of Utopia) and building plopping got me to mayor. I was always told “it’ll be hard to get <insert next rank> but I’ll give it <current rank I was applying for>” by staff multiple times, but I worked to try and prove them wrong.

I finally reached a wall after getting Senator, and going for Governor, I found common feedback of disorganization, and overall lack of structure. When discussing one night on mumble (Shout outs to Mumble Gang) it was presented by a couple of friends to just “float the city and redo the roads and positioning of builds to make it more organized” and that was when the ‘Make Utopia Great Again’ project began. Huge thanks, and my eternal gratitude go to jphgolf4321 and _Kastle who helped make that happen, and the friendships that developed as a result of the project.

That was almost 3 years ago at this point. Since that point, the city hasn’t changed much, just the occasional addition of transit, and building here and there, but one thing that has changed in the same time frame are the memories. Memories I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. This server has been here for me through thick and thin, through sickness and health. For all of that, I say this:

Thank You.

Thank you for being around, and being positive influences on each other. You never realize the effects your ripples have, but for each and every member on here has left a hugely positive impact on my life. Thank you to the people who know who they are, for being there for me even when I wasn’t there for myself. Thank you to the other members of staff for truly being the cream of the crop. I couldn’t ask to work with a better and more wholesome group of people. Thank you to the people who aren’t around anymore on the server, and have moved on to their next big project. Thank you to each and every person that has contributed to making Utopia truly Great.

Don’t worry, this isn’t any sort of goodbye, this is just me taking a minute to reflect and be a little nostalgic on this celebratory day, to take a minute and see just how far I’ve come. From a small little 200x200 block area to the metropolis it is today, I’m thankful for every opportunity I’ve had along the way, and here’s to a lot more memories!

Promoted on June 9, 2019 for his city of Kolpino City.

This is honestly the best gaming community I’ve ever been a part of. I remember I joined in 2013 as user “pppppppppoooooop” and was rejected a few times, then gave up (for reference, I did not make this username, it was procedurally generated by Mojang when I made the account and didn’t type in a username by accident, so I was stuck with it until Mojang added a username change feature). Fortunately, I tried again in 2015 and was accepted. Building Kolpino City has been such an accomplishing and enjoyable experience for me, and I really appreciate everyone who helped me out. I am very grateful to Frumple and the staff for spending their time, money, and effort to managing and upholding the community to high standards as well as supporting the players with the many tools they implement and update. Thank you.

Promoted on January 12, 2020 for her city of Larkspur.

On the very first day I was promoted to member–September 11th, 2018–I decided to be a bit corny and build a bell in a plot of land by the NW22 MRT Station and dedicate it to giving thanks for both the sheer luck I had just stumbling upon this server and to the staff for promoting me. See, I have been looking for a server like this for years–none of my personal friends at the time were interested in playing in a creative city-building world which I have always had a bizarre fascination with. I had given up hope in finding a server like this, but while looking to automate a minecart transport system in singleplayer I somehow stumbled upon this place. I suppose it was simply a some kind of catharsis or whatever that caused me to build the bell, but to this day it still stands as the center of the town I decided to found at that site. At the time, I had heard about the then 11 premier cities. I admired the effort of their creators but I never thought my town would join their ranks but, 16 months and 7 premier promotions later, here we are as I deliver this speech. While I have my regrets about how I went about Larkspur’s growth and recognize its many flaws, Larkspur is my city and I cherish it and the many experiences I had building it.

Thus, in the spirit of the first structure I built in what would become the city of Larkspur we know and love today, I extend my deepest thanks to everyone who has in any way contributed land, effort, criticism, transport links, or the time in promoting and publicizing this town, including people who have hosted all or part of their event here. Your contributions have very much made Larkspur into what it is today. While I wish I could thank each and every one of you, this speech is extremely wordy as-is so I will refrain from doing so. Anyway, thank you to my fellow staff members for promoting my town to Premier, as well as the audience for listening.

Promoted on November 14, 2020 for his city of Oparia.

I joined the MRT for the first time on the 2nd of April, 2020. I was really bored during COVID and after looking at 3 city maps, I thought, “maybe there are some servers for this kind of thing.” I’ve spent my time here for a little over seven months, and it has been fun (most) of the ride. This, no matter what the results at the GSM are, has been one of the fun parts. One of the reasons I’ve really stuck around here has been the community. I’ve made connections here that I definitely could not have done just strolling down the street, and I’m really grateful for that. But this isn’t about my belonging (which will be discussed in approximately 15 minutes), it’s about my city. I really loved making Oparia from the start to the finish. EliteNeon was the first person to come to Oparia, setting up a wooden dock at my Downtown for easy access to his town of New Mackinaw as well as to what would have been the RoE Capital. From then on, Oparia grew to have 160 buildings to this date, and that growth even astonishes me. It astonishes me because I’m really not that creative. I love following a format and just doing the same thing over and over again, Oparia looks like to a small extent, but there’s also a lot of original design and good builds there that I’ve ended up quite proud of. Oparia really has been quite the project and this has been quite the server to do it on. Thanks for all the support and stay tuned for moderator nominations!

MC_Protocol

Promoted on August 8, 2021 for his city of Redwood.

Hi,

This is definitely a long letter so stick for the ride while I go through a stack of details.

My name is MC_Protocol, but most people call me Protocol or Mills in real life. Growing up as an only child with parents who tried their hardest to make sure I succeed in life, I had a lot of pressure around me. Sometimes inter conflicts came up in my family where it was the absolute worse and wasn't the greatest be honest. Because of those situations, I often locked myself away, and in some results made me not have that many friends growing up. One solution my parents had was to buy me a console where I would spend my time during middle school playing the Xbox 360 Edition version of Minecraft and where I would make a server that had cool little transit that would take you around similar to the MRT at the time. That server sort of sparked my social interaction with people as well as other in Middle School. Around February 2014 in the eighth grade, my mom gave me a gift card that contains a code to make a Minecraft Account, and later on, in the day, I would join the server for the first time ever.

When joining, I reminisce and remember the people and individuals who were at the time were the nicest people I have met. I would eventually do a member application and get accepted around a day or two later by some who I watched a bunch as a kid, Thomasfyfe. I'm pretty sure I lost it when I found that out so yeah. Anyway, through that year I would make two cool towns called Frost City and the other around the MRT Red Line called Centennial. Centennial was also the first time I really incorporated and design a well-off and uniquely styled town at the time which eventually led into a town I would build later that year called Victorian City on a new world called "The New World."

The New World even still as of this moment when writing this letter is where everything skyrocketed for me creatively and at the time was when I got into high school as a freshman. For the next couple of years during high school, I would build and create insane towns that would be considered by some as amazing work by members all around! For those curious, these towns would be Victorian City (now Covina), Rochshire, Port City of Victoria, Dana Point, and the pinnacle of all that, Redwood.

Redwood is and probably will be the last city I ever design considering that tops everything which is sort of fitting for it. It is peak when it comes down to attention to detail, references to pop culture, architecture, and roads. It is also a love letter to the place I live being California and you can see that with all of its references in one way or another. To those visiting the town, I hope you can walk wound and find cool little things that are presented because it is definitely amazing to see through, and make sure to take all of your time because you're gonna need it.

Finally, to my friends and people that I consider family on the server, I just want to say thank you so much for existing whether you are a regular member, someone I know IRL, or some new who joined. To former moderators, current or future moderators/admins I do want to say thank you for your work and services in helping and letting this community exist.

I hope that you all live and enjoy life to the fullest!

Keep moving forward,

Protocol

Mojang1014

Promoted on January 8, 2022 for his city of Chan Bay.

Hello.

This is Mojang1014 here.

Most of the people call me moj. Others who have seen me bud on this server back in 2018 would call me Mojang. No fancy sugarcoating here and there. I just want to make this speech meaningful, or at the very least, brief. Anyways…

I would like to take this opportunity to again extend my gratitude to everyone in this server who has supported me along this road to double premier. Chan Bay, initially I thought, would just end up like all the other, well majority, of moj towns that have seeded themselves onto the surface of the New World – that being a tiny hamlet in the nowhere. For much of its growth, it has been fast and evident of the dubious yet mysterious ways of what many folks here call Mojangitis. When the town reached Governor, I kind of stopped and took a breather – kept multiplying the disease, whatever shape or form, whenever I had the time and effort to do so.

May 2020 rolled along and I made my first shot to the double premier hoop. A near unanimous “no” (I believe it was a 1:10 ratio) was their answer. I was disheartened honestly, and that took a good chunk of my motivation. Add Modgate and all the drama that has happened this past year, it just went lower and lower, to a point where I contemplated on leaving the server for good.

But I persisted, in hopes and aspirations that whatever the hell that was happening right now, would simmer, and no one would frankly give a damn about it anymore.

It was then that I started working on Chan Bay again.

And from tiny hamlet to vast semi-arid metropolis it went.

One airport to three airports.

Unknown to Known.

Governor to Premier.

Single to Double (Premier).

So to those members, young and old, experienced and not, lazy and driven, let Chan Bay be a testament that no matter how hard things in this world can be, whether it be the IB exams or your screwed-up mental health, that dreams and aspirations, wonder and inspiration, can indeed come true if you put your mind, sweat, and effort into it.

So God bless all of you, at sa wakas, mabunga at masaya ang araw ninyo.

Kachow.

Promoted on February 13, 2022 for his city of Porton.

I’m really pleased to have received Premier for Porton – Despite this being a fairly new town (being founded on 9th August 2021, 6 months and 4 days ago) I’ve really enjoyed working on it and am proud it’s gotten to this stage.

I founded Porton on a whim, not knowing how well I could master an organic build style having only ever built traditional towns. Despite that though I was able to make quick progress, and adding armour stands throughout the town from the start really helped me to breathe life into the town and make it feel real. Overall I’ve really enjoyed working on the town since it was started, and am glad it’s been recognised as one of the server’s Premier cities.

Thanks for everyone that’s visited Porton throughout it’s development, and for giving me ideas and inspiration to carry it on.

PS. Good luck to anyone partaking in future Premier Challenges

Truthfully, I wasn’t expecting to get Premier. Itokani has been a passion project of mine, and I built it in an effort to create a tropical city that would look more organized and planned than my first attempt, the Hummingbird Islands. I’ve extremely proud of what Itokani has become, especially with all of the hours I poured into it. Thanks to everyone who has constructed anything in the town or helped in any part of it!

Most importantly, don’t forget to sign up for (and later vote in) the MRTvision Screenshot Contest!
