The Auburn Academy Library (AAL) is the library system of Auburn Academy and one of the largest open stack academic libraries on the server. The Library's collections are spread across three branches on the Academy campus. Most collections as well as the Academy archives and special collections are located in the Central Library. Music collections are housed in the Music Library and materials intended for children and teens are located in the Junior Library.

Research collections are catalogued using the Library of Congress Classification (LCC) system while the fiction collection is shelved by author. The Junior Library's holdings use the Dewey Decimal System.

Locations

Central Library

The Central Library building
The Central Library's main reading room

The Central Library was one of the first buildings constructed at the Academy. Its distinctive quasi-Brutalist architecture makes it instantly distinguishable from other campus buildings. In its thirty-plus kilometres of stacks, the Central Library holds the bulk of the Library's collections, including LCC classes A through L and N through Z, rare books and special collections, and the Academy archives. The building also contains computer laboratories, Library administrative offices, study spaces, and a collaborative space known as the Bowl.

The upper five floors house the normal circulating collection in stacks wrapping around the soaring central reading room with its signature steps. The basement level is home to the Department of Rare Books and Special Collections (RBSC) and the Academy Archives. Expansion of the basement is planned to provide additional space for RBSC and the Archives as well as a step-free entrance to the building.

Music Library

The Music Centre, which houses the Music Library on its top floor

The Music Library holds the circulating music collections in LCC class M, including monographs, scores, and recordings. It also serves as the home for the Library's audiovisual collection and houses the orchestral and choral libraries used by the Department of Music's ensembles. Located on the top floor of the Music Centre, the Music Library provides panoramic views of the Arts Quad, Woods, and surrounding area. It also provides study spaces and listening rooms. Items housed in the Music Library have the (MUS) prefix in their call number.

Junior Library

Harmony Hall, which contains the Junior Library

The Junior Library is housed in Harmony Hall and is accessible through entry four. It holds collections targeted towards Primary School and Intermediate School students. All Primary School classes make a weekly visit to the Junior Library for story time, computer literacy sessions, and opportunities to borrow books. Materials held in the Junior Library have the (JR) prefix in their call number.
