History

The ABN sign on Viola Avenue approaching the airport

The concept for Auburn Airport was conceived shortly after Auburn was promoted to Governor on December 5, 2022. A formal proposal was submitted on December 23, 2022, and was approved a day later.

Construction started the same day, with the tarmac, check-in area, and west concourse completed by the end of the day. The east concourse was structurally completed on December 25, 2022, with the upper level lounge awaiting furnishing. The control tower, Auburn Underground station, and road connection were also completed on the same day. The east concourse lounge was completed a day later, with additional taxiways added to the tarmac along with enhanced gate signage and several car parks.

"ABN" also appears during the vehicular approach to the airport in 3 metre letters.

Layout

Auburn Airport has one terminal with two concourses in an asymmetrical "U" shape. The west concourse is the shorter of the two concourses and contains 10 gates.
