AyyLion for GAC is an initiative to elect AyyLion to the position of General Assembly Chair of the United Cities during the January 2017 election. Should the role of GAC be abolished in any upcoming resolution, the campaign will be suspended indefinitely, and AyyLion will not be running for another position until the next United Cities election.

Policy

AyyLion's political beliefs are aligned majorly to the left, and AyyLion is a registered member of the Labour Party. While this party is under the MRT International Coalition, AyyLion is not explicitly a part of this group. AyyLion's votes towards resolutions have aligned at varying points with both left-leaning and right-leaning members of the General Assembly. As is clear to see, AyyLion's views of leadership are the most important to him.

Resolutions

AyyLion has currently submitted 0 resolutions, as the United Cities is still in relative infancy, and he has not yet seen something major he would like to fix. He believes that this has no affiliation with qualification for the position whatsoever; as the General Assembly Chairman, his main objective will be to call the General Assembly into session on a semi-regular schedule.

GA Meetings

It is AyyLion's belief that after the first election, with the positions of leadership filled by member's choices, the General Assembly should meet on a semi-regular basis to establish precedents for future cycles of United Cities leaders, as meetings can increase understanding of upcoming resolutions and the production and efficient completion of goals for the United Cities to meet.

Leadership

Leadership should be distributed among several roles, instead of just the President and Vice-President. A new group similar to the Security Council should be formed containing one representative of any rank from each major political party. These representatives should be elected by the members of the party, and will follow the same term limits as regular leaders of the United Cities. This group should be no bigger than 1/3 of the size of the General Assembly (in all cases this should be rounded up to the next whole number seat), so some like-minded or low-attended parties may be grouped together in order to prevent this extra council from reaching too large of a size. This council should serve the same duties as the Security Council, as the representatives present are elected by individual parties and must rotate with terms, preventing a bias towards the higher ranks. It is up to the parties to host primary elections to fill this council with members; if they fail to do this, or provide the President with evidence showing sufficient members of the party have voted, they will not receive a council seat, as it should not be up to United Cities leadership to dictate each political party. Finally, this council will elect their own chairperson out of themselves, with the condition that a party cannot control the spot of chairperson over term limits; if the Labour Party submitted a candidate who served three terms before being replaced, they could not have their next representative fill the spot of the chairperson for the first term. This system should provide a more democratic way to create a "safety net" of players meant to veto resolutions they see unfit for the United Cities as a whole.

Abolition of the General Assembly Chair

AyyLion is against this measure, as it limits power to just the president and vice-president. Instead, he believes that the General Assembly Chair should be kept as a more minor role, helping to lead parts of General Assembly meetings (such as attendance or other logistic measures) and taking minutes, with the Vice-President leading the bulk of meetings.

Endorsements

I believe that Narnia17 and AlikSong would be the best fit candidates for their respective position at this time. This list will be updated to reflect views of other candidates at a later date.
