Battle of the Builds is a creativity, building-focused game show created and hosted by MinecraftYoshi26. Contestants, known as "builders", compete in building-focused challenges that aim to test their creative skills. Through various different types of challenges, builders get eliminated through main challenges and Build Offs. Generally, poor building and creative skills result in elimination. It was officially announced on the MRT Wiki on August 17, 2019, after receiving GSM funding at the June 2019 GSM.
It premiered on September 7, 2019. It had a finale on September 28, 2019, with MC_Protocol beating _HeavenAngel_ in the final episode. MC_Protocol received $3,500 for winning and _HeavenAngel_ received $1,750 as the runner-up.
The game show was made as a one-off event. Following the season, MinecraftYoshi26 confirmed that the show was not scheduled to have a second season in the foreseeable future.
Format
Battle of the Builds is an original idea created by MinecraftYoshi26. Its format originated from how MinecraftYoshi26 wanted to create a game show that focused on building and creativity, as one on the server did not exist. The title was selected from suggestions by daltdisneyland. The show's slogan is "A competition of creativity".
Main Challenge
The Main Challenge is a challenge that all of the builders compete in order to win. The builders either compete as individuals or in teams. For individuals, the two worst performers in the Main Challenge (or by specific criteria) is automatically sent to the Build Off. If there are teams, the whole team that did the worst goes to the Build Off.
The builder who does the best in the Main Challenge is the declared winner of the challenge and receives a choice of prize, money, or an advantage in the next challenge. In individual challenges, the top three builders who perform the best are identified. Then, out of those three, the builder who performed the best overall in the challenge is declared the winner of the challenge and receives the challenge's prize. In teams, all members of the winning team are declared winners and the builder who did the best according to the host and, if applicable, the special judge is declared the "Best of the Best" and receives the prize. If all other members of the team can agree who to give the title to, it is given to that builder.
Build Off
The Build Off is a secondary challenge in an episode in which builders who fare the worst in the Main Challenge are sent to compete. The Build Off is a speed build challenge in which the builders are given 10 minutes to complete a specified build using any blocks from the creative inventory. The first two minutes of the 10-minute build time allows the competitors to look up images online for ideas if they would like to use it to do so. After the time is over, contestants must close it The type of build is chosen from a set of predetermined options visible to all builders. Each builder, starting with the one that fared the worst in the Main Challenge, chooses a certain number of builds to veto. The rest of the build options are then shuffled and the build for the Build Off is chosen by random selection.
Each competitor is given a large, empty plot that cannot be seen by the other opponent(s). At the end of the time, the special judge chooses the build they like the least and that builder is then eliminated.
Rules
Builders are prohibited from using staff powers, custom items brought in, and breaking any rules in challenges. Plagiarism of builds is prohibited. Using fast-clickers, schematic, or any other modification of vanilla building mechanics are not allowed. All rules and penalties are up to the discretion of the host.
Cast
Applications opened on August 23, 2019, and closed on August 28, 2019. The cast comprised of 13 contestants.

"Incomplete Ingredients" | ||
Main Challenge ("Incomplete Ingredients"): Builders must build a school by only placing the permitted blocks on a list that only listed blocks that have a hitbox smaller than 1 meter by 1 meter by 1 meter. Builders may also use any items from the creative inventory, defined as objects that exist only within the player's inventory and hands and cannot be directly placed. Builders can only place blocks that were on that list; however, if they placed blocks and used items that would create blocks that would take the full space, that is allowed. For example, placing multiple snow layers on top of each other results in a snow block that takes up the full space of a block is allowed. Builders are allocated 20 minutes to build. The builds are judged on their interior, exterior, creativity, and functionality.

Each kit would be hidden when chosen; however, the heads of the builders whose blocks are in the kit are shown.
