Borealia is a Mayor town founded by Vulpicula and currently owned by VickiTori. It focuses primarily maintaining the feel of a cozy and nostalgic winter community. The town has no roads, and instead only uses cobblestone footpaths that weave between buildings, parks, and the terrain itself.
History
Borealia was founded soon after building was permitted on the MRT Taiga Line extension, on October 1, 2016. Its station on the MRT Taiga Line dwarfs the tiny town. Borealia is Vulpicula's second city, and the first thing to be constructed in the town was the "New Storalisburg" plaza. The plaza circles around the west side of the station, and contains four market stalls, several benches, and snow covered spruce trees that give way to the town itself. After the plaza was completed, the town's other buildings were erected, such as the Yukon Building, the Town Hall (Cascadia Building), and a visitor's center for tourists.
After Vulpicula's departure from the server in July 2021, the town was transferred to VickiTori, the mayor of the nearby city of Larkspur.
Tourism
Despite Borealia's small size, there are already a couple of things to do in the town. The New Storalisburg plaza offers visitors a place to stretch their legs and visit the local businesses and market stalls which are open during the summer. The visitors center by the town hall offers free maps of the area to tourists, and there are plans designated areas for Snowshoeing, Ice Skating, and other winter activities.
Districts
Borealia currently only has one district, which is named the Skagway District (after Skagway, Alaska). The town hall, and any other current developments and structures, are found in this district. It is on the western side of the T49 station.
Climate
Borealia has a year round sub-arctic climate. Winters are long and cold, and Summers are short and mild. Yearly precipitation is usually fairly low, and most of what falls is in the form of snow. The coldest temperature ever recorded in Borealia is -38.5°C, which was measured on March 5th, 2013. The warmest ever recorded was 22.8°C, which was measured on August 9th, 2007. It is strongly advised that any visitors wear appropriate clothing to avoid risk of hypothermia.
