Delta is the sixth and current MRT era, starting from October 17, 2023.
Background
The lease for Delta started on May 24, 2023, with Frumple paying for the lease for two years. In the June 2023 ASM, the Delta server was announced, with the transition date being set for September 2023. Unlike Epsilon and Zeta, Delta did not involve an expansion of the New World, despite what many people were expecting.
During this ASM, discussions regarding what to do with the currently-used Zeta server took place. A post in #community-issues was made on the Discord server, asking people whether they wanted to use the Zeta server for a purge event or a temporary survival server. The community voted in favour of a survival server, and another post in #community-issues was made for the eleventh anniversary survival server.
On August 28, 2023, Frumple announced more details regarding the Delta server. On September 14, 2023, due to real-life responsibilities, Frumple moved the migration date to mid-October. A migration date of October 16 was then set On October 6.
On October 16, 2023, the migration began at 16:00 UTC. All MRT services were temporarily put offline. During the migration, the website and status page were brought back online first, followed by the Dynmap and Plan, then the File Server and TacoBot, finally followed by the wiki and the OpenTTD Server. The main minecraft server finally reopened at 1:00 UTC on October 21, 2023. The beta server remained offline for slightly longer until October 24, 2023.
Major builds
Many new towns were founded during Delta. Areas with numerous players founding towns during Delta included the Zeta Southeast (ZSE) region. The 3 cities that were promoted to Premier during Delta as of Septmber 1, 2024 in order were Caravaca, Mountbatten, and New Chandigarh.
Transit
TrainCarts
On November 3, 2023, CitrusFruits asked if the TrainCarts plugin would be added to the server. With _frozen having returned to the server in October 2023, discussions took place regarding the plugin being added to the server. Some concerns brought up included the fact that TrainCarts could break the MRT, with factors such as lag being citied as a large issue. These issues had been brought up previously when the plugin was first proposed by Just_robinho and _frozen in 2014, and despite the plugin receiving numerous updates since then, these concerns were still at the forefront of peoples minds.
TrainCarts was later installed on the Beta server on November 13, 2023, and was extensively tested for about a month. Multiple issues were found within the plugin, including a "ticket sign exploit" which allowed some members to generate millions of in-game dollars to be added to their account. The possibility of creating lag machines with superfast trains being spawned in quick succession, and consequently lagging the server, was another issue which was discovered, and was later fixed.
The plugin was finally proposed at the December 2023 GSM, where it was approved and installed on the main server on December 11, 2023. The first TrainCarts companies to emerge or integrate TrainCarts trains after installation were Fred Rail Regional, MRT Shinkansen, CitiRail, IntraBahn and ErzLink. TrainCarts attachments, suggested by NobodyBestFriend was later proposed in March 2024 GSM, where it was approved and enabled. It also led to the creation of an association for the TrainCarts companies, Railway Companies' Assocation, by The_White_Mane.

As of October 2, 2024, at least 66 players became Members during Delta. New countries that have members that were accepted from included Russia.[a]
