Fairfax Stock Exchange (FSX) is a privately-owned stock exchange operated by a board of directors. FSX is located in the FSX Building next to Fairfax Northern Cross in the city of  G5  Fairfax. It operates a total of 7 indexes, with 6 indexes focused on their fields of operations and one showcasing the top 50 franchises. FSX as a general stock exchange is focused on the franchise-type businesses and their business successes. As such, it will not include actual franchise values, but merely as a counter to see how your business fare against each other.

FSX will update and operate on a cycle system. The length of cycles are varied and depends on the total action of companies in the stock exchange. There will be no updates in between cycles. This is done to give fair time for FSX staff to verify and update the information, and fair time for companies to show improvements all at once.

The First Cycle was released for public consumption on June 20, 2014 and contained 32 companies. Cyan Systems (CYAN) was #1 on the first MarketIndex. Unfortunately, there was no companies listed in the AirlineIndex, so that specific index was not released on the first cycle.

Companies can choose to be listed on FSX and other markets (such as MRT Stock) at the same time. There is no limitations to this choice.

Indexes Information

FSX has a total of 7 indexes, each focused on the main focus of the business involved. There are situations where a company will have some type of overlaps into different index, but we will only focus on the company’s major franchise type.

FoodIndex covers those franchises with the main focus of their business in the sales and preparation of food products. This category includes Grocery Stores, Restaurants, and Fast Food franchises.

RetailIndex covers those franchises with the main focus of selling materials, clothing, equipment, or animals.

AirlineIndex covers those franchises focused on the transport of people through the air. Helicopters and Airlines are considered the same.

TransitIndex covers the active companies with transit lines and transport of people through buses or rail.

TechIndex covers companies who provide technology for other companies in the form of redstone mechanisms, transit stations, and other type of redstone technologies.

CorpIndex covers those companies that provides umbrella coverage of all types of franchises. The companies listed here will not be listed in the MarketIndex due to their large sizes.

MarketIndex is a collection of the top 50 franchises regardless of the type of franchise involved.

Regulations and Definitions

FSX is operated on the “It’s just a game, but lets add some competition” belief of playing Minecraft. As such, it is considered fair to set forth some simple rules.

FSX Regulations

  • FSX must operate with an apolitical bias. We must accept facts for facts, and not use data for any type of political motivations.
  • FSX will not involve itself in the daily action of businesses.
  • FSX will attempt to be as accurate as possible with the information gathered and displayed.
  • FSX will not reject companies due to their decision to be listed on other stock exchanges.

Player & Franchise Regulations

  • Remember, this is only a game.
  • Remember, FSX Staff is human as well. They want to play the game too! Do not bug them about FSX stocks.
  • This is not to be used to demean or otherwise put down other players.
  • Any form of franchise MUST have an area of more than 100 square blocks. (Any type of building, technology, or anything should have an equivalent of a 6x6x3 space or better). This will prevent spam of one-column kiosks that serves no real purpose.
  • Intra-city Transit Systems (the type of metro system that has frequent stops within a single city) and whistle-stop stations (Simple stations that uses minimal redstone with a single button and unpowered rail) will have their stations counted as 1/4 of a point.
  • Information must be as accurate as possible when checked, with sufficient and clear information provided in your company’s wiki pages (# of franchise, lines, station, technology). We will do random frequent checks on companies and will de-list those who abuse this rule.

Definitions

Instances: in the FSX system. It basically means a single store, station, line, airline route, airline destination, or technology use.

Completed Build" All Instances of retail and food must be inside a completed build. That means, all the important stuff must be provided (food/retail store, roof (unless designed to be outside) and seating for diners if it is a restaurant type. This is included in the 6x6x3 space.

Franchise Type: in the FSX system, you must select one of the following: Food, Retail, Airline, Transit, Tech Provider, and Corporation. This will determine your company’s index and who they will compete with. The purpose is to keep food companies apart from transit companies.

Verified Company: Refers to a company who has submitted proper information as investigated by our Business Verification Department. Verifications are done randomly without any political bias, and verified checks will only last for a total of 4 cycles before requiring another verification.

Listing and Updating your Company Information

When you feel you are ready to list your company on the FSX, you will need to do several things BEFORE registering your company. You will have to determine the name of the company, its stock symbol (Must be less than 4 characters, and contain all letters), a business password (that is NOT your email, Minecraft account, or any important account password), how many “instances” of your franchise is there, and the type of your franchise. More information regarding instances and types are included in the Company Listing Request form.

Note about Business Passwords: We utilize business passwords to allow you to make changes to your business without having someone else falsify your credentials. If you proceed to lose your password, you can contact us in-game and we will be able to give you the password in a private message. We emphasize that you do NOT use your normal password for your email, MC username, or any such things as this will be information that will be shared with the FSX staff.

Do remember that if we have no update from your companies over the span of 7 total consecutive cycles, we reserve the right to de-list your company. So please ensure you send in update forms as often as you can.

Also, please keep your updates to a minimum. We would like it to be done at least once per cycle, maybe twice if there is substantial change to the numbers. Thank you!

The FSX Staff

The Board of Director will have a total of 5 members; 2 Ad-mod seats, and 3 selected from the players. If needed, the board of directors can vote to expand the seating on the board. The Board of Directors determines what actions are required to run FSX in an apolitical and accurate method. The Board of Directors will also determine the schedule for which cycles will occur.

FSX also runs two departments under the Board of Directors. They are the Department of Business Verifications, and the Processing Departments. Staff in the Business Verification Department goes out into the field and verify the information submitted to us by the owners of the business to ensure all information are accurate. The Processing Department processes all the information ranging from initial stock listings and stock updates, and ensure all information matches before releasing the necessary documents for the cycles.

We are also currently looking for players to join our staff. If interested, please do leave a book containing your name in a chest at the FSX Building entrance that is next to the Fairfax Northern Cross Station. We are now currently looking for 2 more qualified members to join our Board of Directors, plus several staff positions in our Business Verifications and Processing Departments. All applicants will be interviewed.
