Roadway Standards

Roadways compliant with FTS standards must include all of the following:

Lanes

  • Each lane is at least 2 blocks wide
  • At least one yellow solid or striped line dividing bidirectional roads AND/OR a clearly defined median dividing the bidirectional road
  • Solid or striped white lines serving as same-direction lane dividers
  • Reversible lanes are marked with striped yellow lines on either side, with either a signal indicating the current direction OR signs indicating the direction at certain times
  • Two-lane bidirectional roads that allow passing are marked with a striped yellow line OR a solid yellow line adjacent to a striped yellow line
  • Center left turn lanes are marked on either side with a solid yellow line on the outside and a striped yellow line on the inside

Intersections

  • Roads have solid white stop lines placed before the intersection, and runs the width of the side of the road entering the intersection
  • Intersections have either stop signs, yield signs, traffic lights, or traffic circles
  • Marked pedestrian crossing if sidewalks exist on either side of the road

Railroad Crossings

  • At the point of crossing, the road must be level with the top of the tracks
  • If uCars are used on the road, some way to allow the uCar to cross the tracks effectively must be present
  • Signs indicating a railroad crossing before and at the crossing OR train warning systems at the crossing must be present

All other standards are at the discretion of the town/city's roadway administration.

Driving Standards

Drivers utilizing the road must be compliant with all of the following standards:

Standard Driving

  • Vehicle remains within the lane marked out by lane markings, sidewalks, and/or roadside markings
  • Intersections must not be blocked at any time
  • Turns may only occur where there is no solid yellow line, no no-turn sign, and when it is safe to do so
  • Lane changing is discouraged when there are solid white lines
  • Passing may occur on two-lane bidirectional roads only when either the yellow line is striped OR has a solid yellow line on the far side and a striped yellow line on the near side
  • Center left turn lanes may only be used for turning left from and onto the road, never for passing or regular driving in

Other vehicles

  • Right-of-way at intersections apply at all times
  • Emergency vehicles with sirens on always have right-of-way
  • Trains always have right-of-way regardless of traffic control systems, UNLESS it is a street-level light rail in compliance with roadway traffic control systems

Road Conditions

  • Roads may not be driven on by non-authorized vehicles when there is flooding or snowfall over 2 meters.
  • Low visibility conditions will lower the speed limits

Accident

An accident is defined as an incident involving a vehicles where property damage AND/OR injury to a person or domestic animal AND/OR death of a person or domestic animal has occurred.

In the event of an accident you must:

  • Stop all vehicles involved
