Itavanga is a small, island-core city situated in Ward 8 on the New World. It is located in the Eilean Sea, and is a slowly expanding archipelago built island-by-island. Each island has a different different style or role, and are connected using small boats found at docks around the archipelago (ItaBoat). Itavanga's islands are inspired by different towns on and off the MRT, sometimes even mixing multiple town styles together. Each Island incorporates its own biome, and has its own secrets or fun little details, ranging from the Armour Stand Scenes on Angalofa, to the deep dungeons of Kahau, to the secret hideouts and caravanserais of Vaota.

Please note that all islands listed below are only the ones currently claimed by the town. All planned but unclaimed islands are not listed here.

Islands

Angalofa

Angalofa is a small, cottage-core focused islands located near the centre of the the archipelago. It is derived from the Tongan word "Angaʻofá" which in English means "Kindness." It is divided into 4 districts, Tagaalo, Api, Pride, and Hohaahohaa, which are named according to corresponding villages inside the villages. It is also the current location of the Itavangan Town Hall (Soon to be moved to Kolomua), but once the change is made it will be designated as the political centre of the island. The island itself is comprised of small 'pods' of colourful terracotta buildings in small settlements. These 4 settlements are the 4 villages of the town. All the settlements are in a region named after itself except for Mahina Village, which is located in the Pride Region. The region is instead named after the nearby international port, Port-of-Pride. Angalofa if well known for its funny and quirky AST Scenes (Armour Stand Scenes), which include conversations between members of the server located all over the island - inside franchises, apartments, and international travel locations. Angalofa also has its very own weed house, which is located in Mahina Village. (See the Angalofa Wiki for more information)

Kahau

Kahau is a large, modern islands and is the financial capital of Itavanga. It is connected by sophisticated rail links, and has several transport links, including Kahau Heliport and Kahau Centrale Port, which serves local connections to islands around Itavanga. It does not (currently) has an international nautical port for connections. Kahau is not very well completed compared to Angalofa, as Noahrebl's main focus is currently Angalofa. However, there is a lot of planning going on on how the island and its districts will go. It is also planned to house Itavanga's landmark, the Kahau Prison District, which will feature a detailed prison, courthouses, prison camps, mines, and redstone security measures, as well as several small details such as wanted signs, security cameras, patrols, on-the-run prisoners, and judges returning from work. This district will also have typical civilian buildings such as apartments, housing, parks, shops, and typical city facilities. However, it will show many "For sale" signs as the district is not exactly the safest! Kahau's name is derived the Tongan Word "Kahaʻú" which means "Future" in English. It is also home to Itavanga's first air facility, Kahau Local Aerodrome.

Kolomua

Kolomua is the capital island of Itavanga, but is very unpopulated, with a large section of it sectioned off as a tropical nature reserve, and another portion going to farmland. The island is also the place where the Itavangan Capital Building, which hosts the senate and the "high chambers" where the Mayor and their citizens may meet and discuss issues. It's main buildings are homes for Government Officials, apartments for workers, a few franchises, and (mostly) embassies. However, the main bulk of Itavanga's "Capital" and largest population remains on Kahau, which has the biggest financial opportunities. Kolomua is the Political Capital of Itavanga, and what it lacks in population it makes up with its natural beauty, especially inside the Kolomua Reserve. Kolomua is derived from the Tongan word "Kolomuʻá" which means "Capital" in English.

Kapakau

Kapakau is the island which contains the soon-to-be built [Senator] airfield. The airfield is planned to be called Kapakau Itavanga International Airfield (IATA: IKP, ICAO: IKAP). The island will contain some hotels, a planned ItaMet station, the senator airfield itself, a small port connecting to other islands, an immigration centre, and the islands local government building (and office of the Itavanga Aviation Administration), the Kapakau Council Building. The island is derived from Tongan "Kapakau," meaning "Wings" in English.

Elefanite

Elefanite is the island which contains many of the old cultural landmarks in Itavanga. Its lore history is that it was built by Indian settlers in around 1400AD, and was built by them as a hub for the industries and trades back then. The island contains some small canals to allow boats into the Elefanite Boat Market, and also the Itavangan Royal Palace, which was build by settlers around 100 years before they left in 1623AD. Elefanite is also connected by a walking bridge to Kapakau Island, which is around 40 metres away from it. Elefanite was origionally called "हाथी," (romanised to Haa-tee), which means elephant in Hindi. However, due to the bulk of Itavanga speaking Tongan at the time, it was called "ʻElefanite" by the islanders, and, when Itavanga was liberated from India in 1745AD, the name was replaced to Elefanite as a symbol of freedom.

Lore

The Beginning (Circa. 950BC)

Discovery

Itavanga, situated in the far Northwest of the MRT, was a long way from the first civilisations. Once humans learnt how to craft boats, the islands of Itavanga were first discovered. The alleged person who first discovered the islands was Chief Okiif of the Tagaalo Tribe, situated on the coast near modern-day Las Playas. Chief Okiif landed on Angalofa Island, near the current village of Tagaalo. Soon, a tribe was formed, and they expanded over islands.

Formation

Once the tribe was formed, a new system of ways and how things would work was formed. Chief Okiif was the ruler of the tribe, who everyone obeyed. Apart from that, everyone was equal, so the tribe was happy. However, things were going to change soon, as the tribe became known to people on the mainland. Several tribes had heard of Itavanga, and wished to gain footing there for its plentiful resources and favourable weather.

The First War

The next tribe to be formed was the tribe of Hohaahohaa, followed by the tribed of Mahina and Havilivili, and finally Api. These tribes were hostile towards one and other, but due to their primitive weaponry and a large, unstable sea separating them, they were unable to war against eachother. That was until the tribe of Tagaalo hit the iron age, followed by Mahina. The two tribes swept aside the tribes of Havilivili and Hohaahohaa, creating a jagged line across the archipelago, where borders were drawn. These two new kingdoms were called Ita, meaning Angry or Irritated, and Avanga, which means Fantasy. The new kingdoms were even more hostile, and just waiting for an excuse to go to war.

Tensions go high

At the turn of the millennia at 0AD, the two kingdoms were getting more and more sophisticated, hitting the projectile age during the middle of the year. The two chiefs, Uka and Fufo, were hard at work in trying to gather an army. A border line was drawn down the middle of the archipelago, giving the western-most islands to Ita, and the eastern, larger islands to Avanga. Chief Uka of the Ita Kingdom was in desperate need for more land, but unable to get back to mainland due to the lack of vessels, his only resort was to gain islands from Avanga. Avanga, however, was in need of the fruits that grew plentifully on the islands of Ita, and was unable to get enough seeds to sow their fields. They to needed more islands.

Turn of the Age (Circa. 10AD)

The Second War

The war was then sparked by a small scavengers ship, which docked on the rocks of Kolomua (Belonging to the tribe of Avanga). The crew of the small boat were Itan, and were trying to gather more wood for the construction of a floating village, to ease the lack of space. However, they were soon caught, branded as spies, and executed. This sparked an Itan response, which looted the island of Olunga, and kidnapped over 400 people from their beds and had them executed. This dissolved into a bitter war, where the kingdoms launched tit-for-tat attacks, and at one point swapping sides of the archipelago completely.

The Treaty

After a spiteful 25 years of fighting, the two kingdoms agreed on a treaty. All islands were returned, but the island of Folau was to be split in two, and the tribes must begin trade. This solved a lot of problems, but for the residents of Folau. Riots were commonplace there, as the two tribes forced on one island were not happy. This lead to the great mooning of 40AD, in which people indecently stripped hanging out of their windows. This lead to a second agreement for the two factions, in which the island was to be split in half by a wall, and the Itan side was to turn nocturnal so they could forget they each existed.

The Revolt

This lead to a revolt, which had to be solved by the wall being torn down. The wall's materials were then used to build a floating village off the coast (destroyed in a tidal wave in 267AD), which unified the two factions.

The Agreement

An agreement was finally made, and the two factions became unified in a join-state way, in which both Ita and Avanga administrated it.

The Period of Unification (Circa. 550AD)

The Meeting

A meeting was held in which the two chiefs (at that time Chief Ovo and Chief Woya), who agreed that the islands should be unified and they should try to make amends. The meeting ended with an agreement being drawn up to be voted on by the two tribes. Should it go ahead, the islands would unified under the name "Itavanga."

The Vote

The vote was a close one, with the pro-unificaton side just slipping through. However, there was a lot of uncertainty on voter fraud, bias, and corruption. The final vote was then held in September 553AD, which passed overwhelmingly to the Pro-union side.

The Unification of Itavanga

Once the Itans and the Avangans had be unified, old wounds soon healed, and the islands restored peace. However, once the new government formed, they needed to start looking out for threats from mainland and other nearby tribes.

Battle for Itavanga (Circa. 750AD)

The First Invasion

The first of these threats was the tribes around the area of Modern-day San Ostend, which were both ferocious in the way they fought, but were just in the way they tried and treated prisoners. The tensions caused by the trade cut-off from the unification for them angered them. However, when a tidal wave hit the coast of their villages in 755AD, they needed more food as their crops had been wiped out. This turned their attention towards the islands of Itavanga, which had had a thriving crop season due to their farm designs which protected them from the frequent tidal waves of the Eilean Sea. The boats set sail from the harbours during May, when the crops where near harvest. They then landed on Kolomua Island on the 3rd of June, 755AD. Kolomua was captured within a few days, as the islanders were not ready for an invasion. However, they regrouped on Kahau in the following days, and defences were set up on the neighbouring islands of Olunga, Kahau, Folau, and Angalofa. The invaders saw this, and invaded the island they least expected, Melino, on the other side of the archipelago. The islanders then completed defences on Elefanite, Kapakau, and Vaota, leaving all islands defended. They then harvested the remaining crops (as a large number of them had been on the nutrient-plentiful Melino), before using them to set up an army. This army then left Kahau Harbour on the 9th of September, 755AD. They took back Kolomua with surprising speed, but Melino had been left well defended. The re-united citizens of Kolomua were happy to help the forces retake Melino. However, their attempts failed at re-capture, meaning they needed a new strategy. The mainlanders knew re-capture was imminent, so they decided to gather as many of the crops as they could, before bringing them home to reseed their failed, flooded fields.

Starving

As the crops of Melino were gone, the Itavangans had lost a large chunk of their food. This lead to the rise of whaling in 757AD, in which the floating town of Havilivili (Can still be found off the coast of Angalofa) spearheaded this industry with a large whaling industry. The rise in whaling and fishing helped cover a large amount of crop-loss, but still wasn't enough. This lead to a trade agreement with the nearby kingdom of Las Playas, to supply them with food in return for whale blubber for oil.

Trade Wars

The trade agreement helped the Itavangans pull through the hard time, and the crops where reseeded all over the green Melino. However, now they had enough food, trade stopped. Las Playas tried to regain trade, for they needed the plentiful whale blubber Itavanga made. Itavanga denied the offers, as they no longer needed the extra food. Las Playas then, with their dwindling oil supplies for lanterns and fuel, set sail to Itavanga to try and gain control over the bountiful oil supplies.

An Unseen Occurrence (Circa. 755AD)

Missing Goods

All of Itavanga's blubber stores were in a small cluster of storage huts situated on the tip of the boating island of Folau. They weren't guarded at all as, after the unification and the war, crime rate and stealing was at an all-time low. This meant that on the evening of 26th September, 755AD, some inconspicuous fishing boats from Las Playas disembarked on the rainy shores of Folau (as it was rainy season) and raided the blubber huts in the night. This kept on happening for the next few days until the huts were checked up on the next week, when they were discovered missing.

Footnote

Itavanga is a town which has dips and rises in activity and development, and climbs the ranks much slower than other towns. Itavanga is aiming for the [Governor] at some point (I may not even get it before the server closes), and I will have dips in activity. However, I hope you enjoy the town and enjoy exploring it and finding out the many secrets hidden under, over, and throughout the town (Gm3 reccommended). Thank you for reading the wiki page for Itavanga, and contact me if you have any questions or requests about Itavanga. Have a nice day/night/period in which you are conscious :)
