Itokani is a Premier city founded and owned by McYoshi26, located in the Senikau region in northeastern Zeta. Itokani was founded on the opening of the Zeta server in 2020. Itokani is a multi-island city, with boats connecting the various islands. The city's name originates from the Fijian word for 'friend'.

Itokani is heavily influenced by Pacific Island tropical aesthetics. Construction of the city began on the island of Karakarawa. Itokani was recognized as a town after it received the rank of Mayor on April 8, 2020, and was later recognized as Premier on February 13, 2022.

History and development

Foundation and early islands (2020)

At the beginning of Zeta, MinecraftYoshi26 wanted to start a town in the Zeta region to start a true tropical island, especially in comparison to his Governor-ranked city of Hummingbird Islands. He also wanted to be near a coral reef. Before the opening of Zeta, the island that is now Karakarawa was selected as his first build site to begin Itokani. Solely, Karakarawa was used to evaluate Itokani for the Mayor rank. Itokani received the Mayor rank on April 8, 2020, with endorsements from cal76 and chiefbozx. mine_man_ was declared the deputy mayor of the town for the promotion of the town on the same day due to his hand in constructing the Karakarawa Island Community Theater and the Itokani Drama Studio.

Manumanu from afar

Following the completion of Karakarawa, the next settlement was northeast at the island of Manumanu. The creation of Manumanu was made with a vision of creating a forested island filled with various fauna. On May 3, 2020, Manumanu was completed. Vinataka, the island with Mount Vakatiki, was created next and completed on May 11, 2020.

Southwestern islands (2020)

Following the completion of Vinataka, Koroturaga (known as Yanuyanu at the time) was planned to be built next; however, zb7 made a claim on the nearby island of Waitui without knowing the plans for Itokani. After reaching out, the land was ceded to the town on May 13, 2020.

Itokani was put up for Senator on June 13, 2020, and was approved for promotion on June 26, 2020.

Koroturaga was completed on August 1, 2020. Itokani's town hall was moved from its temporary location at the Karakarawa Blathers Memorial Museum to its permanent location on Koroturaga.

With the construction of Waitui, the first links to other cities were created on August 9, 2020, via Hummingbird Boat Lines' Line 49, the Magnolia Line, with service to Kantō, Malosa, and Sand. Around the same time, the Itokani Local Transit boats were rerouted to the hub on the island of Waitui instead of Karakarawa.

Stalled construction and Modgate (2020)

During the construction of Waitui, Nimataka was officially claimed for construction on August 20, 2020. Following this claim, major construction on the city was temporarily halted due to the production of The Amazing Race 11. On September 3, 2020, the city was submitted for Governor to submit at the same time as KyleFrb for his city of Oparia. Both cities were promoted to Governor on September 16, 2020.

The Altéa Farmhouse and four windmills on Teivaki

The island of Vakasuka for Vakasuka International Airport was officially claimed on September 17, 2020, beginning construction on the second mode of transport out of the city. Following that claim, construction in the southeast began with the island of Teivaki a day later. The island was finished on September 21, 2020. Sulua was the eighth island claim for the city on September 26, 2020.

Progress on Itokani stopped as a result of Modgate. The construction island claims made in the latter half of 2020, namely, Nimataka, Vakasuka, and Sulua, was non-existent until over a year later in early 2022.

Premier and revitalized interest (2022–2023)

The first major construction in Itokani since Modgate occurred when Sulua was completed on February 20, 2022. Itokani was submitted for Premier alongside Porton at the February 2022 GSM, and was promoted unanimously to Premier on February 13, 2022. He released his Premier speech two days later, noting that Itokani was a "passion project" and that he was "extremely proud of what Itokani has become".

The first airport in Itokani, Vakasuka International Airport, was completed on April 17, 2022, with the first plane being placed in early on that day. Four days later, the second airport in Itokani, Lailai Airfield, was completed on April 21, 2022.

Soko was the tenth island claim for the city on April 27, 2022, beginning the creation of the island's nautical shipping center, and was completed on September 20, 2022. Despite being claimed two years prior, construction on Nimataka officially began on the night of September 23, 2022, and was completed nearly a year later on August 30, 2023, following hiatuses and spurts of construction.

Dovu was the twelfth island for Itokani, with construction officially beginning on December 2, 2023, and being completed on December 7, 2023.

Theming and aesthetics

Itokani is mainly influenced by Pacific Island and other tropical aesthetics. The usage of greenspace and terraforming is a top priority in the construction Itokani to ensure the town looks inviting, relaxing, and natural.

While most islands in Itokani focus on Pacific Island aesthetics, some builds and full islands have purposefully mixed tropical influences with non-tropical aesthetics. The buildings on Waitui take inspiration from Nyhavn in Copenhagen, Denmark. The whole island of Teivaki takes inspiration from farms from the French Minecraft server of Amberstone, showcasing a European farm aesthetic. Lailai Airfield takes inspiration from Redwood Executive Airport, which has a modern aesthetic.

Islands

As of December 2023, Itokani is comprised of twelve major islands.

Although the islands have differing themes, there are consistent aspects between islands. Each major island is assigned a color, as reflected in each island's lighthouse, flag, and some builds. There are three consistent builds on each island: a lighthouse colored the island's color, a map board, and a dilapidated stone tiki head with magma eyes. Each island is constructed to ensure there is at least one restroom facility on a given island. An early common theme among the tourist-related islands is the presence of an Aroma Coffee, as seen on Karakarawa, Manumanu, Vinataka, and Waitui.
