The Kitania Civil War was a civil conflict within the City-State of Kitania, formed when elements of the KIA Armed Forces led by Army Captain James Parkins formed a dissident group and proclaimed the formation of a new state known as the Free State of Kitania. After weeks of planning, these dissidents launched a coup d'état against the city of Zaquar on October 4th, 2017, and had taken control of the city by October 6th, disposing of the Kitanian provincial government and declaring Zaquar the capital of the Free State of Kitania.

During the coup against Zaquar, a commercial passenger flight between Hummingbird Islands and Elecna Bay, IntraAir flight 46, was hijacked and diverted to Zaquar. The Vice President of the City-State of Kitania, MinecraftYoshi26, had been on board, and he and the other passengers and crew were held hostage until being rescued by the KIA in a special operation on December 17th.

On November 5th, 2017, just over a month after the fall of Zaquar, a Free Kitanian attack was launched on Los Angeles, a city administered by megacorporation and Kitanian ally Bay Area Rapid Transit, or BART. This attack, involving car and truck bombings and shootouts in the streets, was a distraction, which diverted attention from Free Kitania's successful assault on the KIA BLACKSITE prison facility, which resulted in massive casualties among Kitanian personnel and Free Kitania taking control of the complex.

On December 17th, 2017, the KIA Tactical Operations Unit launched a covert operation in Zaquar to rescue MinecraftYoshi26 and the other passengers and crew of IntraAir flight 46. The hostages were successfully rescued and brought to Elecna Bay, however there were multiple casualties among KIA and BART Police personnel as well as responding Free Kitania soldiers.

The Free State of Kitania has declared sovereignty over all provinces and territories of the City-State of Kitania, although it currently only occupies the city of Zaquar. The City-State of Kitania has refused to recognize the statehood of the Free State of Kitania, and has designated it a terrorist organization. An arrest warrant currently remains outstanding for Commander James Parkins, leader of Free Kitania, and for others who participated in the rebellion.

After the rescue of MinecraftYoshi26, the City-State of Kitania made plans to launch a final assault to retake Zaquar and defeat the Free State of Kitania. However, the Kitanian government stalled, worrying about the consequences of what could be a brutal conflict, and the Kitania Civil War went cold for a period of several months.

On August 15th, 2018, after months of conflict having been stalled, an explosion occurred on board IntraAir flight 2, a commercial passenger flight from Elecna Bay to Kitania. Reports indicated that the plane had been hit by anti-aircraft fire while flying over Zaquar, and that the Free State of Kitania had attempted to shoot it down. The plane suffered a single engine failure and was able to land at Elecna Bay International Airport. The incident angered the government of the City-State of Kitania, with President KittyCat11231 declaring that Free Kitania's "days are numbered".

Over the weeks following the attempted shoot-down of IntraAir flight 2, intelligence reports indicated the City-State of Kitania was preparing to launch attacks on the Free State of Kitania. On the night of September 10th, 2018, the KIA Armed Forces launched an assault to retake the KIA BLACKSITE, ten months after its capture by Free Kitania. The assault included a large air raid and ground offensive, and quickly overwhelmed the Free Kitanian soldiers stationed at the complex, allowing Kitania to recapture the BLACKSITE. Following the operation on the BLACKSITE, the BART Police launched an offensive on Free Kitanian Installation Charlie, located near Zaquar, from a secret facility underneath, destroying the base.

In retaliation to the attacks on the BLACKSITE and Installation Charlie, on the night of September 16th, 2018, operatives of the Free State of Kitania and Covina hijacked BART Airlines flight 43, using it as part of a suicide mission in which it collided with IntraAir flight 66 as it was taking off from Achowalogen Takachsin-Covina International Airport, destroying both aircraft in a large explosion on the runway. Commander James Parkins justified the attack, saying it was a necessary response to Kitanian aggression.

Following the destruction of BART Airlines flight 43 and IntraAir flight 66, the Lacledic Republic, which had allied with Free Kitania in the past, switched allegiance, and the Free State of Kitania responded with the attempted assassination of Lacledic Chancellor Valkorion314, who was rescued by Kitanian forces.

In late 2018, the City-State of Kitania sought allies to initiate an invasion of Zaquar, but found that mine_man_, mayor of nearby Elecna Bay, had declared allegiance to Free Kitania. It was found that Free Kitania had taken the mayor hostage, and after a failed rescue mission, the City-State of Kitania invaded Elecna Bay and imposed its martial law for several months.

In December 2018, the City-State of Kitania was on the verge of an invasion of Zaquar, and conducted a covert operation to assassinate top Free Kitanian military and diplomatic officials to throw the Free Kitanian government into disarray before an invasion. However, unbeknownst to the agents of the Kitania Intelligence Agency who conducted the operation, the targets of the operation were surveillance targets for BART, including one who was secretly a BART informant. The KIA assassinated two of the three targets before being stopped by BART, and BART CEO _Kastle held a meeting in Los Angeles with Kitanian President KittyCat11231 and the involved KIA agents to discuss the operation. At the meeting, a gas attack took place, which Kitanian officials believe was a Free Kitanian act in retaliation for the assassinations that day. President KittyCat11231 was reported missing.

After the incident in Los Angeles, KittyCat11231 was found to be alive and well, and in the months following the City-State of Kitania took no further action against the Free State of Kitania, leading some conspiracy theorists to believe the Kitanian President had been swapped out with an impostor, and was actually still missing.

The Kitanian Civil War reached its climax in July 2019. On July 13th, Lacledic Chancellor Valkorion314 was giving an anniversary address in Laclede which was attacked in a similar manner to the attack on the Kitanian and BART meeting in Los Angeles, which resulted in the Chancellor being reported missing. The Lacledic military suspected the Free State of Kitania of abducting the Chancellor for the second time, and ordered a full scale invasion of Zaquar. The Lacledic military swiftly overthrew the Free State of Kitania, ending its nearly two year reign of the city, however the Lacledic Chancellor was not found. After a search operation, the Chancellor was found in Lacledic-administered Hannibal. Chancellor Valkorion314 told authorities he had set up a scavenger hunt for the anniversary to find his location, and did not presume the disappearance would be regarded as an abduction, resulting in the events that took place that day.

The same conspiracy theorists who believe KittyCat11231 to still be missing after the incident in Los Angeles also believe that Chancellor Valkorion314 remains missing, and has also been swapped out with an impostor.

Zaquar has since been transferred back to the City-State of Kitania, and remains under martial law. Diplomatic tensions have heightened between the Lacledic Republic and the City-State of Kitania, as Laclede went into Zaquar with no Kitanian backing. Many Free Kitanian personnel were arrested, and Commander James Parkins himself was detained in Achowalogen Takachsin by the Kitania Intelligence Agency shortly after the Lacledic invasion of Zaquar, however some Free Kitanian forces are believed to remain at large, presenting a continued threat to the City-State of Kitania.

History

Before the War

In late September 2017, several sectors of the KIA Armed Forces, led by Captain James Parkins of Army Sector 13, began plotting to rebel against the City-State of Kitania. Among their reasons for the rebellion was the City-State's perceived lack of civil rights and its sometimes aggressive foreign policy, including its intervention in Trojan Valley. Captains of the sectors involved in the plot began ignoring orders from the KIA Armed Forces and began a rogue operation to take over Zaquar. A base known as Installation Charlie was established far to the southwest of Zaquar and Parkins proclaimed the establishment of the Free State of Kitania, with the goal of liberating the City-State of Kitania's provinces. At this time, the KIA Armed Forces noted that many of its Army, Navy, and Air Force vehicles had gone unaccounted for, and the Free State of Kitania began repainting the vehicles into their own colors and proclaimed their rebel force the Free Kitania Armed Forces. At this time the KIA was aware of the operation and actively investigating.

The President of the City-State of Kitania ordered the commencement of KIA Operation Mole Assault, an operation to gather intelligence on the operation and stop it before it happened. The KIA Intelligence Service learned that the coup d'état had been scheduled for Friday, October 13th, after one if its agents infiltrated Installation Charlie. The agent was discovered, however, and has since lost contact with the KIA.

The KIA Armed Forces gathered a significant presence in nearby Elecna Bay, with whom the City-State of Kitania had made aware the full details of the operation. A meeting was scheduled between the President of the City-State of Kitania and the mayor of Elecna Bay alongside the top officials of the KIA, however the President's escort plane was diverted after an assassination plot was discovered.

The KIA Intelligence Service learned that Covina had pledged to assist the Free State of Kitania in the attack on Zaquar. In response, the City-State of Kitania sought the support of Bay Area Rapid Transit, which possessed a significant police and military force known as the BART Police. In the days leading up to the invasion, the Covina Military stormed Achowalogen Takachsin-Covina International Airport, an airport owned by Bay Area Rapid Transit within Covina, and shut down the airport, using it as an air base for the invasion of Zaquar. In response, Bay Area Rapid Transit sent forces to the airport and engaged in a standoff with the Covina Military.

The KIA learned that the Free State of Kitania had discovered the KIA's knowledge of the planned attack, and that they were planning to move up the invasion date. However, the KIA Intelligence Service estimated an invasion would likely occur sometime between October 7th and October 9th, leading the KIA Armed Forces to prepare its defense operation for that day. However, the Free State of Kitania and Covina had agreed upon October 4th as the invasion date.

The Fall of Zaquar

During the evening of Wednesday, October 4th, the Free Kitania Armed Forces and the Covina Military launched an aerial assault on Zaquar, quickly moving in military ships to block ports and sending ground forces, which seized control of most of Downtown Zaquar. The Zaquar City Hall was captured and rebel troops raised the Free Kitanian flag in place of the flag of the City-State of Kitania, which was burned. Agents of the KIA Police were caught off guard by the invasion, and many were taken into custody by Free Kitanian troops.

The City-State of Kitania sent its unprepared defense forces to Zaquar in an attempt to suppress the attack, which was assisted by BART. The KIA Armed Forces Army secured control of most of southern Zaquar, including Zaquar Ménage et Trois Regional Airport and Zaquar Winfrey Waterport, but were unsupported by naval forces due to the rebel blockade. Naval forces were pushed back to the northeastern coast, where naval troops landed to secure the northern coast. The Air Force began attacking Free Kitanian and Covinian air forces.

On October 6th, a hijacker aligned with the Free State of Kitania took control of IntraAir flight 46, which had Kitanian Vice President MinecraftYoshi26 on board. The plane was diverted to Zaquar, where Free Kitanian forces stormed the airport runway and took the passengers, crew, and Vice President hostage. Free Kitanian forces threatened to execute the Vice President, which led President KittyCat11231 to order the retreat of all KIA forces, proclaiming “Zaquar has fallen”. The Free State of Kitania took control over the entirety of Zaquar.

Occupation

Following the successful coup d'état, Zaquar has been administered by the Free State of Kitania, which imposed martial law upon the city. The Kitanian provincial government was suspended, and border checkpoints were put in place at the entry points to the city. Several transportation companies, including Intra, whose plane was involved in the hijacking on October 6th, suspended all their services to Zaquar. Free Kitanian soldiers patrol the streets as tanks can frequently be seen driving through the city, while planes patrol the air and ships continue to blockade the eastern coast.

The passengers of IntraAir flight 46, as well as KIA personnel who were in Zaquar at the time of the coup, were taken into custody and detained at the Clarkson Pool east of the City Hall. The pool remained guarded by Free Kitanian soldiers until the operation to rescue the hostages on December 17th.

The Free State of Kitania formed the Free Kitania Council, led by Commander James Parkins and responsible for governing Free Kitania. The Council has declared its sovereignty over Zaquar, as well as the other provinces and territories of the City-State of Kitania, has declared war against the City-State of Kitania, and has issued a warrant for the arrest of the President of the City-State of Kitania and other government officials.

The Kitania Emergency Management Organization placed Zaquar under a red alert level when the coup d'état was underway, which remains in effect.

Los Angeles Attack & Assault on the BLACKSITE

In late October and early November, the Free State of Kitania was planning an operation with the Covina Military to take over control of the KIA BLACKSITE, a prison complex located northwest of Shadowpoint and administered by the KIA Prison Control Service. In order to ensure the success of the operation, a decoy operation was also planned in Los Angeles, a city administered by Kitanian ally BART. The purpose of the operation in Los Angeles was to distract the City-State of Kitania and BART's attention from the attack on the KIA BLACKSITE, however a failed attack on the facility by the City-State of Gato the previous day led Kitanian troops to be mobilized to the facility and on alert the day of the attack.

The Lacledic Republic, which was at conflict with the City-State of Kitania in the Trojan Valley, supported Free Kitania and Covina in the operation, and allowed their forces to station in Ravenna. A stolen BART Police Traffic Enforcement vehicle, a truck, and several vans were stationed in Ravenna for the Los Angeles operation, while air and ground forces were stationed for the attack on the BLACKSITE.

On November 5th, the attack on Los Angeles was launched. Free Kitanian soldiers rammed the stolen BART Police van into the Kitanian embassy before getting out and shooting at KIA personnel and diplomatic staff, then detonating the van. Other soldiers drove a truck up to the BART Police station and did the same. Multiple crews of soldiers drove vans throughout Los Angeles and attacked BART Police personnel, and Free Kitanian air forces attacked the KIA Armed Forces installation in Los Angeles.

After the Los Angeles attack was underway, Free Kitania and Covina began their assault on the KIA BLACKSITE. The BLACKSITE already had KIA Armed Forces troops stationed following the failed attack by Gato, but Free Kitania and Covina's massive air raid sent the Kitanian ground forces into chaos. Dozens of aircraft fired on the ground forces, destroying most of the Kitanian vehicles and resulting in mass casualties. Free Kitanian ground troops then arrived and took control of the facility, imprisoning the remaining KIA Armed Forces troops and the personnel responsible for the prison.

Rescue of MinecraftYoshi26

After the October 6th hijacking of IntraAir flight 46, the Free State of Kitania threatened the life of Kitanian Vice President MinecraftYoshi26, who had been on board the flight, resulting in President Kitty ordering the KIA Armed Forces to retreat and surrendering Zaquar. In order for the City-State of Kitania to retake Zaquar, it was necessary to first rescue Vice President Yoshi from occupied Zaquar.

On November 17th, 2017, the KIA Tactical Operations Unit, with the assistance of the BART Police, conducted a covert operation to rescue the Vice President and the passengers of IntraAir flight 46 being held at the Clarkson Pool. Stealth planes were flown into eastern Zaquar from which KIA agents parachuted towards the Clarkson Pool. Undercover BART Police agents arrived in a truck painted with the IKEA colors and wearing IKEA uniforms. The agents broke into the pool complex, killing several Free Kitanian soldiers that were guarding the prisoners, and rescued the hostages. The hostages, including Vice President Yoshi, and most of the KIA agents escaped using jet packs and arrived in Elecna Bay, however some KIA agents and the BART Police agents did not escape before Free Kitanian soldiers responded. However, a BART Police helicopter crew rescued the remaining agents while they were under attack, lifting up the BART Police IKEA truck with the agents hanging on to the side. There were multiple casualties on each side.

Assassination of the High Chief of KIA Intelligence & Security

Following the operation in occupied Zaquar, Vice President MinecraftYoshi26 and the other passengers and crew of IntraAir flight 46 were taken to safety in Elecna Bay, where the KIA had already established a base of operations. The Vice President met with Elecna Bay's mayor mine_man_ and the High Chiefs of KIA Intelligence & Security and the KIA Armed Forces at the Elecna Bay City Hall, which had been the site of a significant KIA presence since before the coup in October. During the meeting, and while the area was crowded with KIA personnel, including those who had landed from Zaquar, as well as the passengers and crew of IntraAir flight 46, shots were fired by a soldier of the Free State of Kitania at the mayor's office in the City Hall, where the Vice President, mayor of Elecna Bay, and High Chiefs of the KIA were present. The High Chief of KIA Intelligence & Security was killed, while Vice President MinecraftYoshi26, Elecna Bay mayor mine_man_, and the High Chief of the KIA Armed Forces escaped alive. The area around the City Hall descended into panic as the KIA Escort Service quickly mobilized to protect the Vice President and other officials, while KIA agents rushed to find the shooter. The shooter, a soldier of the Free State of Kitania, attempted to escape down the highway onramp behind the City Hall, but an unmarked car of the KIA Tactical Operations Unit struck and killed him. Kitanian officials believe the incident was an attempt to assassinate Vice President MinecraftYoshi26.

The War Turns Cold

The City-State of Kitania made plans for a final assault on Zaquar following the Vice President's rescue. What was to be known as the Battle of Zaquar would have seen Kitanian soldiers and their allies launching a massive offensive upon the city in an attempt to liberate it once more. However, Kitanian government officials expressed concern to the President that such a conflict could spiral out of control, pointing out Free Kitania's willingness to carry out unconventional means of warfare, citing the assassination of the High Chief of KIA Intelligence & Security in Elecna Bay and the bombings and shootings in Los Angeles carried out the night of the BLACKSITE raid. That along with a budget crisis caused by a loss in tax revenue from citizens emigrating from the City-State of Kitania in fear of the war spreading to their homes led the President to secretly call off the assault for the time being.

In the months that followed, the Kitania Civil War went cold. The City-State of Kitania attempted no operations against Free Kitania, which continued to hold control over Zaquar without much challenge. Some in the Kitanian government were optimistic that the Kitania Civil War could be ended by peaceful means, and suggested engaging the Free State of Kitania diplomatically. Other high level officials, however, were concerned that Kitania wasn't acting to protect its interests and to bring to justice those who had committed treason against the state. The President made the decision to continue not conducting any major military operations for the time being.

IntraAir Flight 2

On August 15th, 2018, tensions rapidly escalated after the Free State of Kitania attempted to shoot down IntraAir flight 2. The commercial passenger plane had just taken off from Elecna Bay International Airport en route to the city of Kitania on the old world, a province of the City-State of Kitania, and had Kitanian citizens on board. Due to an error by air traffic control, the plane was directed over the airspace of Zaquar following takeoff from Elecna Bay, which IntraAir had ordered its planes not to fly over due to safety concerns. The Free Kitania Armed Forces spotted the plane on radar, and the plane was shot at by anti-aircraft fire. The pilots attempted maneuvers to divert away from the area, but the right wing and engine of the plane were hit. The plane managed to escape Zaquar's airspace and was able to return to Elecna Bay International Airport for an emergency landing.

Reports that a civilian aircraft had been fired on by the Free State of Kitania led to outrage in the City-State of Kitania. The President of the City-State of Kitania made a televised address the day of the incident, stating that Kitania would not stand by in the face of Free Kitanian "war crimes", and vowed that Free Kitania's "days are numbered". Days following the incident, the President was seen with the CEO of Bay Area Rapid Transit, a Kitanian ally in the civil war, heading to what was presumed to be a classified meeting. Rumors suggested that a resurgence of active warfare was imminent.

Retaking of the BLACKSITE & Attack on Installation Charlie

For weeks after the attempted shoot-down of IntraAir flight 2, it was speculated that Kitania would launch an attack on the Free Kitanians at any moment. Finally, on the night of September 10th, 2018, the KIA Armed Forces launched their first assault in several months against the Free State of Kitania, in an operation to take back control of the KIA BLACKSITE, which the City-State of Kitania lost in November 2017 to Free Kitania. A large fleet of fighter jets initiated an air raid on the facility, taking out key Free Kitanian defenses, while a ground offensive made its way up to the gates of the BLACKSITE. Eyewitnesses recall Free Kitanian soldiers running for their lives as Kitanian forces quickly overwhelmed the Free Kitanians, and mass casualties were reported. The City-State of Kitania was able to reclaim control of the BLACKSITE for the first time in nearly a year.

Following the retaking of the BLACKSITE, on TUesday, September 11th, the BART Police launched an offensive against Installation Charlie, a military base of the Free State of Kitania southwest of Zaquar. BART had operated a secret, unnoticed base underneath Installation Charlie since before the war broke out, and used it as the staging ground for an attack on the site. Ground forces stormed the base and overwhelmed the stationed troops, while nearby air forces were neutralized by helicopters and a submarine. Surviving Free Kitanian soldiers retreated from Installation Charlie, abandoning the eleven month old facility.

BART Airlines Flight 43 & IntraAir Flight 66

Following the attacks on the BLACKSITE and Installation Charlie, Commander James Parkins was determined to retaliate. In coordination with the Covina Military, it was decided that planes from BART Airlines and IntraAir would be targeted, and a plan to crash one plane into another was devised.

On the night of September 16th, 2018, the plan was put into action. Free Kitanian and Covinian operatives boarded BART Airlines flight 43, which departed from Achowalogen Takachsin-Covina International Airport and was scheduled to land at Segville International. Shortly after takeoff from ATC, the flight was hijacked and began to return to the airport.

IntraAir flight 66 had been scheduled to depart from ATC en route to Western Ocean International Airport shortly after BART Airlines flight 43. However, Kitanian officials received intelligence reports that IntraAir flight 66 was being targeted by a Free Kitanian plot, and held the plane on the ground to screen all passengers and cargo. After determining that all passengers were cleared, the plane was cleared to take off.

As IntraAir flight 66 took off on the easternmost runway at ATC, the hijacked BART Airlines flight 43 nosedived towards the runway. Despite frantic communication by air traffic controllers, flight 66 did not have enough time to evade the hijacked jet, and the two planes collided head-on, causing a massive explosion and killing all passengers and crew on board both planes.

In response to the attack, the President of the City-State of Kitania denounced what he called the "war crimes" committed by Free Kitania and Covina. The next day, the KIA released a wanted poster for Commander James Parkins, listing him as one of the KIA's top ten most wanted, and charging him with crimes of "rebellion, treason, mass murder, kidnapping, terrorism, [and] aircraft piracy" in relation to incidents throughout the Kitania Civil War.

Kidnapping of the Lacledic Chancellor

The Lacledic Republic, which had previously supported the Free Kitanian attacks on the KIA BLACKSITE and Los Angeles in late 2017, pulled support from the Free State of Kitania as a result of the hijackings and destruction of two civilian passenger flights, and allied with the City-State of Kitania and BART. In retaliation, the Free State of Kitania organized the abduction and attempted assassination of Lacledic Chancellor Valkorion314, who was brought to Zaquar and personally interrogated by Free Kitanian Commander James Parkins before being buried alive under the sand at the beach in eastern Zaquar.

The Chancellor managed to send distress signals to the Kitania Intelligence Agency, which was able to locate him and commenced a covert rescue operation. The KIA Armed Forces sent a covert special ops force to eastern Zaquar during the night, originating from BART's aircraft carrier east of the city. The Chancellor was found critically injured but still alive under the sand, and was brought back to the BART aircraft carrier for medical treatment.

Occupations of Elecna Bay

In response to the escalations of the war in late 2018, the City-State of Kitania made movements towards invading Zaquar and taking back control of the city. Kitania began by reaching out to potential allies for support, but when Elecna Bay was contacted, its mayor, mine_man_, announced his allegiance to the Free State of Kitania in a public address, and that Free Kitania was occupying the city. Investigation by the KIA found that the mayor's statement had been made under duress, and a rescue plan was formulated, in which a team from the KIA used helicopters to lift a portion of the second floor of the Elecna Bay City Hall, where mine_man was located.

The rescue plan went awry when the helicopters conducting the operation were shot down by anti-aircraft fire, causing the chunk of the City Hall being carried with the mayor inside it to fall onto the ground below, critically injuring mine_man_. After the failure of the mission, Kitanian President KittyCat11231 ordered an invasion of Elecna Bay. Kitanian air forces filled the sky and ground troops marched through the streets, expelling the Free State of Kitania and instituting Kitanian occupation of the city. Mayor mine_man_ was rescued and treated for his injuries, and later re-assumed control of the city.

December Assassination Plot & Los Angeles Incident

The KIA Armed Forces, whose forces were mobilized nearby in Elecna Bay, were planning an imminent invasion of Zaquar in December 2018. However, President KittyCat11231 was convinced that covert operations should take place to weaken Free Kitanian defenses before such an invasion was carried out. The KIA Tactical Operations Unit was given the task of identifying and eliminating key Free Kitanian targets, and selected General Jackson Phillips, who was in charge of the Free Kitanian invasions of the KIA BLACKSITE and Trojan Valley, Admiral Jasper Loughlin, the commander of Free Kitania's air forces, and Ambassador Herald Higgins, Free Kitania's chief diplomat.

The KIA assassinated General Phillips in Segville, who was visiting a mistress, and Admiral Loughlin in Airchester, who was touring the facilities of Epsilon Aircraft Manufacturing under the guise of being a senior employee at the airline AirLinQ. However, the plot to assassinate Ambassador Higgins was foiled. Higgins was in Covina, Free Kitania's only ally, holding a meeting with Mayor 6687kittycat. The KIA identified a plane at Achowalogen Takachsin-Covina International Airport, located in Covina but operated by Kitanian ally BART, as being a Free Kitanian government jet painted in the livery of Infamous Airlines, which Ambassador Higgins was due to fly out on, but the KIA agent attempting to plant a bomb on the plane was arrested by the BART Police and brought to the BART Police station at the southern end of the airport.

BART CEO _Kastle called a meeting, which took place on the upper floor of the City-State of Kitania's embassy in Los Angeles, with Kitanian President KittyCat11231 and the KIA agents instrumental to the operation, where he admonished the KIA's activities and revealed that Kitania's assassination targets were subjects of BART surveillance and intelligence operations. It was revealed that General Jackson Phillips was in Segville as the result of an operation by BART, and the mistress he was seeing was a detective of the BART Police. Ambassador Herald Higgins, whose assassination in Covina had been thwarted, was revealed to be an informant working with BART, who was at the meeting with Covina's mayor as part of a BART intelligence operation.

_Kastle warned Kitanian President KittyCat11231 that Free Kitanian retaliation for the assassinations that were successful was to be expected, as Free Kitania had previously retaliated in force to any provocations. These were the last words _Kastle said before the embassy was hit by a suspected chemical weapons attack, which knocked the meeting's participants unconscious. As those who were rescued from the building were taken for medical treatment, it was reported that KittyCat11231 had gone missing. However, the Kitanian President soon reappeared, and did not give a full explanation for his reappearance. Some conspiracy theorists have speculated that the President had been replaced by an impostor after being abducted and possibly killed, and the KIA has reportedly launched a crackdown on those spreading the conspiracy theory.

Lacledic Chancellor Disappears & Invasion of Zaquar

After the poorly executed assassination plot by the KIA Tactical Operations Unit, the KIA Armed Forces never followed through with its invasion plans for Zaquar. The Free State of Kitania continued to maintain control of Zaquar, and the war once again turned cold as neither side made any serious provocations. This continued until the summer of 2019, when the situation suddenly became hotter than at any point since the 2017 coup d'état in Zaquar.

On July 13th, 2019, the 7th anniversary of the MRT server, Valkorion314, Chancellor of the Lacledic Republic, was giving a commemorative address for the anniversary at the Muny, a theater in southeastern Laclede. During the speech, the patrons of the theater suddenly fell ill in a chemical attack similar to the one in Los Angeles the previous winter, and Chancellor Valkorion314 went missing. As the Chancellor had previously been the subject of an abduction and assassination attempt by the Free State of Kitania, Lacledic officials presumed Free Kitania was responsible for Valkorion's more recent disappearance, and resolved to take immediate action.

Lacledic officials attempted to work with the City-State of Kitania to organize an operation against the Free State of Kitania, but Kitanian officials refused. Frustrated with Kitanian inaction and spurred by the perceived imminent danger the Lacledic Chancellor could be faced with, the Lacledic military ordered an invasion of Zaquar to topple the Free State of Kitania and rescue the Chancellor. While the main forces of the military focused on capturing the city and destroying Free Kitanian defenses, a special ops team was sent in through the train tunnels to search for and rescue Chancellor Valkorion314, as it was believed Free Kitania was keeping prisoners on trains in a rail yard in northern Zaquar abandoned by IntraRail when the city fell under Free Kitanian control.

As Laclede destroyed Free Kitania's defenses and took over Zaquar, a train suspected to be carrying prisoners left the aforementioned rail yard and traveled up IntraRail's line heading north. The train was stopped on the tracks between Matheson and Siletz by the KIA and the police forces of IntraRail's parent company Feline Holdings. A handful of Free Kitanian operatives on the train were arrested, and prisoners, including captured KIA agents, were found on the train, but Chancellor Valkorion314 was not on board.

While Lacledic operatives were meeting with Intra's operations team at Feline Holdings Center in Central City to find out whether or not the Chancellor could have been ejected from the train before it was intercepted, Commander James Parkins, having escaped Zaquar during Laclede's invasion, was found driving north on the A30 highway passing Freedon. He was ultimately stopped after a high speed pursuit on the ATC-101 highway in Achowalogen Takachsin, not far from the border with Covina, by the KIA and BART Police. Parkins was taken to the Kitanian embassy in Los Angeles for interrogation at the request of Lacledic operatives, but did not give any useful information on the location of Chancellor Valkorion314.

Laclede's special ops team investigated whether or not Covina had anything to do with the Chancellor's disappearance, determining it likely did not, and decided to investigate the original crime scene. At the Muny in Laclede, a note was found in a trash can leading Laclede's operatives on a scavenger hunt across a handful of cities. At the end of the hunt, Chancellor Valkorion314 was found in Hannibal, and revealed he had staged his disappearance to send people on his anniversary scavenger hunt to search for him. Frustrated Lacledic operatives explained to the Chancellor that Laclede had invaded Zaquar in search of him, and that the City-State of Kitania was unhappy Laclede went into Zaquar without their backing.

A conspiracy theory which has gained some traction is that the Chancellor is actually still missing, and was swapped out by an impostor, similar to what conspiracy theorists believe happened to Kitanian President KittyCat11231 after the Los Angeles incident.

Laclede's invasion of Zaquar effectively ended the Kitania Civil War, overthrowing Free Kitania's leadership and imprisoning most of their forces. However, an unknown number of Free Kitanian forces managed to escape Zaquar during the invasion, and are believed to remain at large, presenting an ongoing threat to the City-State of Kitania and its allies. Laclede maintains administration over Zaquar, and has imposed martial law on the city. Despite the diplomatic tensions between the Lacledic Republic and the City-State of Kitania over the invasion, Laclede transferred the city back to Kitanian control after negotiations.

Covina, Free Kitania's sole ally, has remained silent following Free Kitania's fall, and provided no defensive support during the final invasion.

Aftermath

Zaquar has been transferred to the administration of the City-State of Kitania by the Lacledic Republic, and currently remains under martial law as Kitania works to establish order in its reclaimed province.
