The MRT Lakeshore Line, or simply the Lakeshore Line, is one of the 22 lines of the New World MRT system.

History

The Lakeshore Line first appeared in Gamma MRT plans in 2014, as another name for the MRT Marina Shuttle. The MRT line extension agenda item in the January 2015 GSM included a possible extension to Daneburg at the coast of Lake 8 via central-southern Gamma. However, the Marina Shuttle was never called that name officially.

In the Zeta MRT plans by Frumple at April 2020, Lakeshore Line is now used for a line going across North Epsilon from Chalxior. It would inherit MRT Zephyr Line's tracks from Chalxior to Rank Resort then would go westwards into the northwestern tundra.

In June 2020 ISM, SimonScholar (called godzilltrain at this time) proposed the line, which went from Chalxior to Newbridge located in northwest Epsilon. It inherited tracks from MRT Zephyr Line, becoming the first line to do so, then new trackage from Rank Resort to Newbridge was built. It was completed in July 7, 2020 and opened in July 2020 GSM.

As part of the Zephyr/Lakeshore extensions, Lakeshore to Chalxior was severed and then Zephyr was connected to the viaduct in order to permit a northern extension to Oparia.

In order to extend the line northeast to Oparia and New Mackinaw in August/September 2021, some changes were made to Lakeshore Line around Chalxior. The line was cut back to  L4  and rerouted north to Oparia and onwards. One of these,  L3 , was converted back to  ZN35 , the station number it had before it was transferred to Lakeshore Line. For a few days, you could ride Zephyr up to Newbridge and Lakeshore to Dand. To accommodate an eastern extension,  L4 - L36  were renamed to  LW4 - LW36  The extension to LE5 was constructed by autobus22 with help from many others and was completed on the September 16, 2021. The extension soft-opened later that day, with the official opening happening later, at the September 2021 ISM.

In September 2021 GSM, autobus22 was cleared to add an infill station in the extension between  L0  and  LE1  in response to demand due to the unique locations of the stations.

The old  L1  and  L2  stations remained in Chalxior with a stub track, before it was subsequently removed, despite autobus22 saying that it would stay for "historic purposes".

After the opening of Lakeshore East extension in September 2021, SimonScholar proposed an extension up to Zhong Guo, the first extension since being repromoted to Moderator in January 2022 GSM, in February 2022 GSM where staff approved the extension up to LE13 in order to allow future consideration whether to extend Lakeshore north to Zhong Guo or turn east to follow the shore. The extension opened in March 2022 GSM.

In the July 2022 ISM, pretzel33 and jay_planner proposed an extension of Lakeshore West to Las Playas. It was mostly built by DNAmaster10 and sponsored by Needn_NL. The extension opened in August 2022 GSM.

In the Zeta MRT plans by Frumple at November 2022, Lakeshore West would either go to the northwest or north, and it is marked as low-priority since Las Playas' location makes it a suitable terminus and Lakeshore East would be extended to serve Zhong Guo, Daly City and end in the northern border.

In October 2022 ISM, TheAllRounderMC and Skelezomperman proposed to extend Lakeshore East up to the northern border along the coast of Lake 34. It opened in January 29, 2023 following a ceremony at LE22 Station.

Route

The MRT Lakeshore Line runs from  LW36  to  LE5 . It starts in Newbridge at  LW36 , then continues east via Risima Island, Rank Resort and Segav Sal. Just east of  LW4  the line used to continue east towards Chalxior Thondes station, but during the Lakeshore East extension, the line was curved north towards Oparia instead and then east towards New Mackinaw to finally terminate a few stations further north at  LE5 . The current travel duration for the line's entire length is about 136 minutes.

The Lakeshore Line was originally suggested to go from the MRT Marina to Lake 8, however in Frumple's Zeta MRT plans it was changed to go between Chalxior, Rank Resort and Newbridge. This was later adjusted to the current situation where the section to Chalxior was abandoned in favour of a new alignment towards Oparia and further onwards to the north-east.

Lakeshore Line West Extension

The style in this extension is it has fancy tunnels, with acacia wood walls and quartz arches, with redstone lamps placed on the top and bottom where the arches are placed and connected by iron trapdoors, and a light blue terracotta line running down the center, while its viaducts are plain, being made out of quartz with glass on the sides, and quartz columns with light blue terracotta painted on the sides, and a light blue terracotta line running down the center, with redstone lamps placed along the way.

The line starts at LW49 station in Las Playas, running completely underground across the New Caledonia area, passing through Holtville and Ardaman, and through plains and roofed forest biomes. After passing through Ardaman, ascending above ground just before LW45 station. At this point, the line travels through more forest and plains biomes, with LW38 station at the edge of a swamp biome, remaining mostly elevated along the way, visiting Spruce Basin, New Conricsto and Shabu Laji. A transfer to MRT Union Line and L2 Line is available at LW42. After LW37 station, the line then goes underground on the way to LW36 station in Newbridge, where a transfer to MRT Western Line is available.

Original section

The style in this extension is like all other extensions built by SimonScholar: viaducts made out of quartz with light blue terracotta sides with white glass barriers, and a light blue terracotta line running down the center with redstone lamps along the way and 4-high tunnels made out of quartz with light blue terracotta lines with redstone lamps along the way on the sides and tracks.

In this section, the line goes across the edge of north Epsilon. The line remains underground, until LW35 station in Upington where the line goes above ground, then passing through a swamp biome, with New Stringcity along the way. Then, it goes across plains and forest biomes, also passing through Funnyland, where the line then goes underground, then through Svobodny and New Gensokyo. After passing under a mountain biome, the line goes above ground to a taiga biome, passing through Filipowice and Bechtel. At Bechtel, located in LW23, a transfer to MRT Taiga Line is available, then entering a mountain biome and going underground before approaching LW21 station, and through Niwen.

The line then descends to cross Lake 3, going across an island made out of roofed forest, plains and forest biomes, where Risima and Twickenham, and additionally ... lies on. The line stays entirely underground on this island. After crossing the island, the line then descends again to cross Lake 3 again, emerging above ground on the way to Rank Resort, at LW14.

This section from Rank Resort to LW4 was originally built as part of MRT Zephyr Line North extension, with Rank Resort being the northern terminus, being given the code ZN46. From Rank Resort, the line goes across mostly forest biomes, and is mostly above ground except when passing through Whitecliff, which was built in a mountain biome. The line visits Broxbourne, Northlend, Segav Sal and Whitecliff along the way. At LW4 station, the line then goes above ground and then turns to the north, with the concurrency with MRT Zephyr Line starting.

The line used to go to Chalxior, and ZN35 station was formerly L3. From L4 (now LW4), it went straight to L3, then turned to the south, going underground on the way to Chalxior, where you could transfer to MRT Zephyr Line at ZN34 and ZN33, with MRT Lakeshore Line terminating at ZN33. After the Lakeshore East Extension was completed, the MRT Lakeshore Line tracks and stations at Chalxior was removed soon afterward.

Lakeshore East Extension

After MRT Lakeshore Line from Whitecliff and MRT Zephyr Line from Chalxior turn to the north, starting an concurrency, both lines goes across the forest biome, passing through Tres Rios and crossing A1. Then, the lines descends underground on the way to Oparia LeTourneau International Airport, at L0, where the lines then split, with MRT Zephyr Line ascending above MRT Lakeshore Line through Oparia, and MRT Lakeshore Line descends, taking a circuitous route to avoid warp rail lines in the vicinity.

This section is one of the two MRT line sections where one line counts up while the other line counts down, with the MRT Zephyr Line counting up and the MRT Lakeshore Line counting down. The other MRT section that has this feature is the MRT Circle Line and MRT Island Line section between Sweet Sand Dunes and Elecna Bay. This was pointed out by autobus22 during planning for the extension.

LE5 station, as photographed right after the soft-opening of the Lakeshore East Extension on the 16th of September, 2021

The line then goes under Northern Ocean. LE1 and LE2 stations are situated underwater, with long passageways to exits, making LE2 station the first station in MRT system to be located underwater. After that, the line ascends on the way to New Mackinaw, at LE3. LE3 station featured a unique design built by autobus22, but it was removed due to reconstruction of New Mackinaw. After this station, the line turns to the north and ascends above ground, stopping at Calistern and Irvine.

Lakeshore East Extension 2

The style in this extension is SimonScholar's usual MRT extension style. From LE5 station, the line curves to the east, going over Northern Ocean, then passing through a swamp biome, and going underground until LE10, briefly going above ground at LE8 station. The line then turns to the north, following the coast of Northern Ocean. At LE10 and LE11 stations, a transfer to MRT Rose Line is available. Towns visited along the way are Manado, Meridian, New Mayton City, Halifax, Sippican and Mountains Pier.

Lakeshore East Extension 3

In this extension, the viaducts and tunnels are mostly made out of stone, with a light blue terracotta line going down the center and sides. From Mountains Pier, the line goes underground, going around the walls of Zhong Guo. At LE16 station, the concurrency with MRT Union Line begins, switching to SimonScholar's MRT extension style for the concurrency. The concurrency lasts until Bouxesei, at LE18, where the line splits off from MRT Union Line, going to Daly City. Then, the line roughly follows the shore of Lake 34, going aboveground after Daly City, passing through forest biomes before terminating at LE22, just 300 blocks away from the world border.
