Debate

Debates will be held between parties as necessary, however an official debate between inter-party candidates will be held by the LoC sometime in mid- to late February. Currently planned debates are between all nominees (within the position they're running for) except for SaROC and SAC.

Candidate Campaigns

Any content related to the campaigns of candidates, such as speeches, press releases, debates, etc. will be posted here. In the meantime a list of what should be included by candidates in their campaigns will be in place.

Remember, this list is not exhaustive or all-inclusive and campaigns should cover more than the points listed. Unopposed candidates, no need for campaign writing...yet.

Secretariat

  • What you will do to improve the administration
  • Clarify role of LoC and its future goals/purpose

_hnt

As the current Secretariat of the League of Cities, I believe I already have the necessary experience to elect me to a second term. My achievements while in office including managing the League of Cities successfully, helping to plan out logistics such as the individual roles of each official, meetings proceedings, and election processes, as well as welcoming a number of members into the League of Cities and helping them with any problems they might have. I also have prior experience in planning and execution, notably with SummerFest and the Eagle Awards. I know that each of those had there downfalls, but it's helped me to learn from those mistakes and gain the skills and confidence needed to improve every step of the way.

My planned second term for the second officer election period of the League of Cities, which will be my last for the foreseeable future due to term restrictions, would allow me to successfully continue several programs that I am in the process of developing and implementing, and the second term will give me just enough time to move the programs into full operation before I leave. Not winning the second term, however, would impair the implementation of the programs severely, and may not even be finished if I had to resort to another term.

Lastly, I would like to point out some errors made by my main opponent KittyCat11231. The resolutions process was already planned to be implemented, however Kitty may have prematurely began the process while it was still being perfected. Another thing I find interesting is how Kitty is against the initial "undemocratic" appointment of officials (which was one-time and would give way to elections the next term), and yet asked for the position of Deputy Secretariat himself. Also, to clarify about the LoC Complex, I must stress that it was paid for by camelfantasy and I initially, and that we merely asked for reimbursements through donations as there was interest among the members for that.

Thank you for taking the time to read my campaign, and remember to: Vote _hnt, the person who has made a difference and promises to in his administration of the League of Cities.

KittyCat11231

I would lead the League of Cities in the right direction, something I already do as Deputy Secretariat. It was I who introduced the resolutions process, as well as I who introduced many of the resolutions passed by the LoC. I also encouraged the LoC to change to a more democratic system, instead of having camelfantasy appoint positions, which is why we are having this election in the first place. As Secretariat, I will continue these accomplishments.

One mistake I think that has been done by the current Secretariat _hnt, as well as camelfantasy, is waste over $500 on a complex we didn't need, then expect the members of the League of Cities to pay for it, even though they did not agree to the new complex in the first place. As Secretariat, I will make sure that any large expenses of the League of Cities are voted upon by resolution.

Another thing, wars and roleplay. While I am against the OPEC belief that war should be banned by rule, I do not think the League of Cities should be wasting it's time focusing on it. I think the LoC should be spending more time on serious issues, like cooperation between cities, building transportation infrastructure, and other things for the benefit of everyone. And yes, roleplay is fun. As Secretariat, I would not get rid of roleplay, but it would not have a high priority within the League of Cities.

As the person who has had an actual impact on the League of Cities, vote for me, KittyCat11231.

EDIT: This is a refutation to an argument made by _hnt. I became Deputy Secretariat because I merged my own organization into the League of Cities. After I entered the League of Cities, I ousted a Transit Commissioner that I did not think was qualified, leading the people of the League of Cities to elect RLcrafters, who has contributed much to the transportation network of the MRT. And I did support the reelection of leadership positions. Just because I was appointed into the League of Cities originally does not nullify all of the work I have done to change the system. When camel appointed the original leaders, some were qualified, others were not. I believe that I have redeemed myself as Deputy Secretariat. Now, we are having fair, LoC-wide elections to reelect key leaders so that the members of the LoC can choose who they want in charge.

Note

TBH, RL did nothing for transportation during his tenure. That section of the argument is invalid. Also, only one member state of your CUANT was not part of the LoC at the time of the merger, and as you recall the mayor of the state Oakley/Royalston, QueenSmae, is now banned. - Camelfantasy, Founder

Adding on to this, I will say, not many productive things did happen this term, hence why I threatened to leave because of useless resolutions, so saying RL did nothing is like saying all the pointless resolutions like building color were worth other members time. If you wanted RL or any other person to do productive resolutions, you should have either elected RL earlier or actually gave him guidelines, none of which happened. - mine_man_
About RL, he was voted in at the end of October, as well as most other officers, which was relatively early as it was only a month into the 1st term.
Note inside a note: I was referring to RL's achievements with RegionalConnect, which is an extensive rail network that reaches across the MRT, making RL much more qualified for Transit Commissioner than frankbros. And my argument against _hnt still stands. The fact that I joined the League of Cities non-democratically does not nullify the work I did to help make the League of Cities more democratic. Additionally, I respect the fact that _hnt had numerous plans to develop a resolutions process, but the question is, how long would it take for the process to be "perfected"? I introduced a democratic resolutions process shortly after becoming Deputy Secretariat, and the League of Cities became a far better organization than it had previously been. Also, I respect the fact that he had several "programs" he wishes to implement into the League of Cities, which he says requires himself to be re-elected, but he has not specified what those "programs" are. All that we know is that _hnt has "programs" under development that he says could not be continued under a different Secretariat, which is not necessarily true. I would be willing to continue useful programs started by _hnt, and I would even be willing to cooperate with _hnt to continue these programs. Just because _hnt is not Secretariat does not mean I cannot work with him. But I cannot make a judgement at the moment because I don't know what any of these programs are. -Kitty
The process, I believe, was set to be implemented shortly after you had started the resolution process. As you can see by Resolution 5 and even going into 6, your own implementation may have been started a bit early as several details seen in those resolutions were still being discussed and a proper conclusion had not been created yet. For RLcrafters, RegionalConnect was developed completely separately from the League of Cities, so I don't see your point in arguing what RL has done with/for the LoC during his term. Also, the mentioned programs have been wished to be kept confidential at this time and revealed in due time. All I can say for now is that it includes reforming the voting process and effect administration of different parts of the LoC, among several other undisclosed topics. Hnt has felt that the programs would only be best developed when he himself is the Secretariat or in a similar position of high power, as the position enables him to effectively develop and implement them in the LoC. - Camelfantasy, Founder
On this whole "RL's term was irrelevant because he did nothing" thing, I don't fault him since we really didn't give him anything to do. Nobody spoke up about an LoC rail network, bus system, or airline. As Transit Commissioner, RL's job was to facilitate the construction of such systems should they have been proposed, which they weren't. Granted, he could have proposed some himself, but he had other things on his plate. jphgolf4321 (talk) 14:57, 23 February 2016 (EST)

Vulpicula

I may be a comparative newcomer compared to my fellow candidates, but in my 8 months here, I have done quite a lot. I’ve established a successful democracy, with a burgeoning capital city. I have many more plans for this server, and this position would help me include others inside them. Notable ones include the sister city program, which would aim to help cities bolster relations with each other, and do cultural exchanges. However, my policies are very lax in terms of city requirements. Cities would, under my rule, be free to mostly do what they want inside the LoC, and set up sub-groups inside it. I promise to uphold the democratic process that candidate Kitty has established, and will hopefully build upon it. If all goes well, we should see a greater involvement in the democratic process in the LoC for the average city. One of the potential ways to do this would to be to add voting incentives, ranging from monetary things, to just franchise IoU’s. I would be openly willing to contribute to this system, even if it meant that I was personally at a loss. As an independent, I would be more than happy to work and cooperate with other candidates, who I am currently running against. I value the expertise of people in the LoC, as I believe that communication is vital in order to maintain a successful venture such as the League of Cities. With that, concludes my speech. I may edit it later. If any of the voters have questions, I will be more than happy to answer them via PM, or on my MRT Wiki userpage.

Note

I'm a little wary about your voting incentives, as it involves money/items of value being given from people to voters, which could potentially lead to corruption. - Camelfantasy

General Assembly Chief

  • How to improve meeting procedures
  • Any modifications of requirements in joining of members

jamess2912

mine_man_

As a candidate for General Assembly Chief, I will be running for the responsibility of running the General Assembly and potentially governing applications into the LoC. During my time in the role, I have a few ideas of what I would like to see happen. These include:

  • Better procedures for the General Assembly meaning less chaotic meetings
  • A better voting system for which should result in fairer voting
  • A new member application process which would mean cities below Councillor will require more work to enter the organisation.
  • More progress in the movement to stop pointless resolutions
  • Actually participating in the LoC

Firstly, we can all all agree the last meeting the LoC had was a disaster, so I propose that all people wishing to participate in a discussion or debate should have a light ext to their desk. I, the General Assembly Chief will order these requests and allot people times to speak. This should prevent the train crash of a meeting which happened late last year. In short, enforce more strictly the rules in the policies page.
Secondly, as a member of the Social Democratic Party, we aim to achieve a LoC which is based around what the citizens want, not what afew powerful people want. Therefore, I propose we add a Single Transferable Vote [1] based voting system where people rank their choices, overall leaving the winning choice a representation of what everyone wanted.
Furthermore, I personally think that any towns lower than Councillor don't have to try hard to enter the LoC, making the whole rule seem pointless. So I will attempt to make the under councilor rules much more strict.
Also, I was the first member of the LoC to begin to end the long chain of useless resolutions, which is now starting to turn into a big campaign. If you elect me for General Assembly Chief I will try to push these campaigns further by making it so 4 LoC leaders have to approve of it and make reasons when approving to why leaders think this resolution is a good thing and to actually have progress be made in the LoC
If you want to actually make the LoC have a productive 6 months, I would recommend voting for me.

Chief Justice

  • Purpose of ICoJ
  • Justice situations needed to be brought before international court

AlikSong

Currently the Chief Justice of 13 cities on the MRT Server, Alik is running for a second term as Chief Justice of the League of Cities. During his first term, he adjudicated a number of matters, including the copyright of iMorgan, and the impersonation of Frumple. Alik has also been the mediator in a number of inter-player disputes, which he cannot disclose of due to confidentiality obligations. Alik's view on the League of Cities International Court of Justice is that it will only be convened when substantial problems arise. This includes a major breach of a League of Cities Policy, and when wartime crimes have purportedly been committed. Small disputes will be left to the individual Courts of each city. Alik's promotion to staff in November 2015 is testament to his devotion to fairness, justice and impartiality on the server. In his free time, Alik likes to help other members build roads, provide ideas and advice on city development, get to know other players, and work on Kenthurst. If elected again, the MRT will have a Chief Justice who will continue promoting the qualities of friendliness and collegiality within the MRT community.

kiwirainbow

Kiwirainbow is thrilled to be running for the 2016 League of City elections. He bases his platform in promoting justice for all while limiting the amount of power League of Cities has over individual cities. This comes from the fact that each city should have their own rights and that their operations should not be restricted by any sort of governing body. At the same time, he believes that a court system should be put in place that disciplines any League of City member who violates a rule or legislation. The idea that League of Cities is a community is extremely important. Anybody who violates the trust of the community should face consequences. Kiwirainbow believes you should elect him as Chief Justice of League of Cities because he knows what it is like to be a member on the MRT. From his experience on the server, he has gotten to know many interesting and unique members, and hopes to apply this when you elect him as Chief Justice.

Transit Commissioner

  • How the LoC will help in development of intra- and intercity transit.

allifarki

I may not have a huge transport system but I still have the power in me to achieve this mighty role. I will do MORE than RL has done in the months he has been the rank and I strive to become a transport tycoon and I will greatly improve the public transport. Vote me if you want realistic rail lines, bus lines everywhere and LoC Airlines! I will improve transit once and for all and make transit more realistic!

RLcrafters

Head of Intelligence

  • Clarification of role in intelligence sharing among members
  • Need for better communication in unclear situations

MIKE24DUDE

LDShadowLord

As a potential Head of Intelligence, I promote the idea of sharing data between individual cities and governments. For intelligence to be effective, we must pool our data so that we can work cross-borders without needless disruption. As such, I propose that a Central Intelligence Agency, possibly called the "League of Intelligence" (Working title, great band name) be created to assist in the divulgence and distribution of data between members. While I support the sharing of data, no city should be forced into handing over data that it feels is too private to share. As such, I also propose that guidelines be created, to aid in the understanding of what data is too private to share while still enabling the maximum efficiency of our combined intelligence forces. I would encourage members of the league of cities to notify both myself, the agency, and the third party when moving notable amounts of militarised resources around the server. To prevent miscommunication it should be declared, in full to all parties, and if such a system is possible it should also be posted publicly. By implementing such a system I would hope to lower the potential for any friendly-fire incidents to occur. Obviously, such a system would not need to be used if members were moving forces within their own boundaries.

Supreme Allied Commander

  • When LoC intervention in intra- and intercity violence affairs is needed
  • Organization of the department

jphgolf4321

My campaign for Supreme Allied Commander of MATO is for the betterment of the LoC as a whole. I excel in strategy, and should the League be drawn into conflict I would lead its forces to a swift victory. During my tenure I want to equip all MATO members with state-of-the-art military technology and open up the arsenals of members with armies to those who are yet unprotected. Part of this protection would be a military plan I like to call Deathstroke. Deathstroke would require MATO members to submit a map to the Allied Command detailing the best way to attack their own city in the event of a) a coup; b) the mayor going mad with power; c) an insurrection the city cannot put down on its own; d) an enemy capture of the city. I believe Deathstroke will lead to greater safety and security for the Coalition as a whole and an insurance policy against inappropriate military action.

"Inappropriate Military Action" includes but is not exclusive to:

  • intervening with another city's affairs without permission
  • attacking and/or occupying a defenseless city
  • attacking a city without a proper motive

If Deathstroke is approved it will hopefully lead to fewer wars and greater peace and prosperity for the League as a whole.

As far as the organization of the department goes, I'd probably simplify it to include basically leaders of cities currently at war and me.

Search and Rescue Operations Commander

  • When LoC intervention in humanitarian affairs is needed
  • Organization of the department

CaptainChimpy

I am the current SaROC of the, well, SaROC. I stand for re-election as I believes I have the experience to carry on. I presided over several aid incidents such as the Sealane attacks. I prides myself on solving this quickly, obtaining permission from nearby cities to evacuate there and liaising with the Mayor, RLcrafters.

I've also learnt from my mistakes. I didn't set up properly due to time constraints in real life. But now exams are over, and I'm committing myself much more to LoC duties. Continuing the 2nd term of my time here would be very beneficial as I would be able to develop and complete several projects and systems that are critically needed, such as the Identification System and a fleet of evacuation vehicles which have commenced construction already. If I didn't get elected a lot of these projects would be stalled and disrupt its development, preventing it from ever going into full use.

Also, I care about SaROC. I care about my vehicles, my approaches, my stance and my insistence on leading peace talks when necessary.

I'd like to compare myself to the other candidates in the field.

_Ptld is, in my opinion, quite untrustworthy. Firstly, he attacked Sealane which meant that they had to declare an emergency and I had to rush to the scene of the imminent refugee situation. If he were running for SaROC, why would one see a candidate who is liable to start spontaneous attacks, who is also in a position to prevent these war situations from happening, as credible?

I'd like to also refute _Ptld. On Saturday after the GA meeting, he said people who don't necessarily care about SaROC should vote for him. Therefore we can deduct that he's not really interested in the position at all, and is only getting votes from those who don't care much about SaROC. He's not committed like I am.

Bnsfninja is, in my opinion, inexperienced. He also says he will create identification for all cities as well as creating a new fleet, however I'd rebutt that as they were planned a few months ago, but were never carried out due to the importance of past exam periods. Bnsf has therefore stated projects which are due to have been undertaken already.

Finally, thank you for reading my pledge to the SaROC. Remember to #VoteChimpy, the SaROC who has made changes and will continue to make changes in the development of SaROC.

PtldKnight

bnsfninja

I am running for SaRO to strengthen a few choke points in our current operations. If you will take a look at the search and rescue commands map you see not all of the MRT is covered. People should not get help only if their city is within a zone, I aim to bring safety to everyone on the MRT. The second choke point I have found is the vehicles and equipment we currently have. I will build search and rescue stations all around the MRT so emergencies can be now across the world right after the incident, this will help us inform news stations, newspapers, and other forms of information to greater our chances of having a successful search. As far as vehicles I will establish air support. This will range from supply planes to search planes. Lastly I will add a better land support, trucks, vans, offroad vechiles and any other land vechicles that can help with search, support and rescue. This is what I will accomplish a SaRO.

Note

Just a note, the map is not official and it only covers major maritime zones for the huge command ships. It doesn't cover anything regarding air or land yet. - Camelfantasy

Dear bnsf, I planned that 2 months ago. Take a look at this: [2]. I understand your feelings about the current evacuation vehicles in place. However a major naval fleet is being built next week with assistance from camel. We are already clocking several cities around the map. eg. South-East would potentially be covered by an approved centre in Elecna Bay, and North West quadrant being covered by several cities around the West Lake. So I think you'll find, in your speech, I have covered all angles. :) (Oh and also we're thinking of using MBS News as official media partner.) Chimpeh - Gimmeh da bananas now! :D (talk) 14:48, 23 February 2016 (EST)
