The lore of the Nansei-Gunto Region is far and wide, and tells the story of a small, unknown region, plagued by conflicts. It shows how it evolved from a bloody civil war to a prospering nation in just 70 years.

This is the OFFICIAL story of Nansei-Gunto. Please don't add anything more unless you have contacted either Airplaneguy9, Weier, mi_aquamarine and/or i____7d.

The First Settlers

Note: BGE stands for Before Gamman Era

1400-600 BGE (Before the Settlements)

The earliest known settlement was halfway between what is now Wenyanga and Akiko Bay, where traces of human remains were found, lodged in the ground, along with cave paintings further inland. It can be believed that early settlers were nomadic, and moved around inland. At the time, Shenghua-shima was filled with broad trees and grassland, but as the climate got warmer, the plants began dying and rocks began breaking down into sand, giving the desert island that Shenghua now sits on. Then, in the late 700s BGE, the people began creating a new civilization 200 blocks north of where Wenyanga is today. It wasn't big, and was filled with huts and fires, but as the age of farming began, it meant that it was the first permanent settlement.

200 BGE (Great Wenyanga and Beginnings of Kazeshima)

As the permanent settlement got rapidly bigger, it soon stretched along the current length of old Wenyanga. A chief, known on written tablets as Rombo, led for 40 years the community of Great Wenyanga, in 106 BGE. Under his guidance, he turned the settlement into a fishing village. Great Wenyanga prospered greatly and may have been technologically advanced for its time.

Most people who wanted to start a new way of life were sent by boat southwest. After 62 days, they landed upon Kazeshima in 94 BGE and established a settlement there, known as Goqoma. However, by chance, settlers from the town of Kanto in the west had gotten there first, and had stumbled upon Goqoma by chance. The Wenyangan settlers were brutally slain, and Goqoma was renamed Kazeshima in 93 BGE.

2019-2020 (Nansei-Gunto Political Crisis)

Further political polarisation due to the Hut Kong Crisis and the Kazeshima Protests led to a political crisis between the two main parties: the centrist Liberty Coalition and the right-wing National Party. For months, the two parties were locked in a gridlock with a caretaker government until new elections in 2020 bought an end to the caretaker government.

However, this crisis had only further affirmed that something had to change in Nansei Gunto, and calls for dissolution began to grow.

2020-2022 (The End of Nansei Gunto)

Protests and political movements began to form for dissolution of Nansei Gunto, with even some high level politicians either sympathising or outright supporting said movements. Many began to look to Lumeva, as many saw them as a better alternative to the current government, only bolstered by the presence of the Lumevan navy near Nansei Gunto that would last until its dissolution.

Some areas also wanted outright independence, most notably New Singapore whose newly elected Mayor: Stephen Hong, promised to negotiate New Singaporean Independence with the Nansei Guntese government. The governor of nearby St Helena: Wilfred Scott, also said that St.Helena, and its surronding islands, should become an autonomous part of an independent New Singaporean state with Norwest still having some control over the island. Shenghua Mayor: Francis Chen, also supported Shenghua autonomy though he intially didn't support independence until late 2021 when protests would eventually change his mind.

Slowly, cities began to gain more autonomy from the central government and would strengthen ties with Lumeva. Kazeshima Mayor Ai Miyako even made a plea to Lumeva, though the Lumevan government told her that they were not ready yet.

2021 was a year of referendums as each individual city voted on their future. All cities voted to leave and dissolve Nansei Gunto while joining Lumeva except for New Singapore, St.Helena and Shenghua. However, an extremist group across the cities known as the Southwestern League, tried to seize control in a riot in New Singapore, even taking control of a tank but would be stopped by Nansei Gunto. A few months later on March 24th 2022, the Nansei Gunto government officially dissolved Nansei Gunto, while recognising the independence of New Singapore and Shenghua. Lumevan troops would move into the rest of the region over the next few days, having held a referendum to integrate these cities.
