The MRT National Theatre is the largest indoor theatre on the MRT, built by _MajorMagpie_, maintained by the MRT Department of Theatres and Performing Arts and sponsored by the Under_Score Corporation. It is located in the City of New Phoenix PLAZA and acts as the city's main notable landmark.
The National Theatre was built to replace the outdated previous MRT Official Theatre, the MRT Amphitheatre, located at Y19 station on the Old World.

Late 2020/early 2021 saw significant renovations to the theatre to coincide with hosting The Glowlight Awards including the installation of a brand new Fly Tower and automation-style fly system, alterations to the proscenium arch - decreasing the width of the opening, the installation of a new house header drape, and a new internal stage structure. The new Fly Tower also allowed for the addition of a safety curtain and accompanying drencher system, as well as a traditional theatre "Lantern" system which together protect the auditorium in the case of a fire onstage. A brand new chandelier was also installed in the main auditorium.
Further renovations are planned for 2021 including, but not limited to, completion of north and south promenades to increase access to the auditorium, construction of long-planned vip lounges and restaurants, and some significant design alterations to the auditorium. A possible increase of seating capacity was considered but eventually dismissed as the venue is already of an unnecessarily large scale for the needs of the server - however, an extension of the Dress Circle and addition of a Royal Circle may be considered in the future for the purposes of design rather than capacity increase.
The theatre has a total capacity of 2298 seats; 1582 in the stalls and 668 in the dress circle as well as 12 luxury VIP boxes each with a maximum capacity of 4. These boxes are the most expensive of the seats in the theatre featuring their own minibars, waiter service and access to the premium lounges and facilities. The auditorium has the largest seating capacity of any other theatre on the server and the building itself is the largest theatre ever built on the server featuring a grand atrium lobby, a double tiered auditorium, a large proscenium arch stage, several restaurants and patron lounge areas, a set of studios and an intricate underground complex containing technical systems, dressing rooms, set building workshops and mass storage.
Amongst its uses as an operational theatre, the auditorium and studios are available for hire as a performance space, assembly room, conference hall and events centre by members or corporations on the MRT.
