Features

Local Headlines

Cable systems have a specially-installed headend to insert local headlines. Local headlines are inserted at :28 and :58 past the hour and also include a short weather forecast. They last approximately one minute long and work similarly to the Weather Channel's Local on the 8s. Headends can also insert a customized news ticker during regular programming. Viewers who have a cable system without a headend (or a satellite system - which technologically cannot have headends) will instead receive a national weather forecast during Local Headlines.

MRT NewsService

MRT NewsService provides a link between local TV stations and MRT NewsChannel. Affiliate stations provide local stories and resources that can be used on MRT NewsChannel, and in return MRT NewsChannel distributes stories to affiliates.

MRT NewsChannel Archive

The Archive is a neat, organized list of every article we have published. You can find it here.

Buying Advertisements

The standard price of any advertisement on MRT NewsChannel is $0.50/second, which results in a cost of $15 for a standard 30 seconds. You may buy an advertisement anytime before Saturday, which is when the MRT News Report airs. After that, you may either post the advertisement to YouTube or attach it to an email to [email protected]. If you choose to do the latter, you must send it as either a .mp4 or a .flv. Any other format will not be accepted. MRT NewsChannel is not obligated to send any refunds if any technical errors occur though a make-good will most likely be aired on a later program to compensate. MRT NewsChannel may turn down any advertisements that it deems inappropriate or unsuitable.

During streams with no commercials, sponsorships may be offered for $20. This means that a banner with your company's name will be seen at either the top or bottom of the broadcast.

Using Our Content

Most content produced by MRT NewsChannel, including short clips from our videos, may be used as long as permission is obtained and credit is given when it is shown. We generally do not charge royalties on our content.

The direct rebroadcast of streams and other videos produced by MRT NewsChannel is prohibited. Anyone who does so is liable to action from the legal team of MRT News Channel LLC, up to and including requesting Staff action in extreme cases.
