2017 Election postponed due to court case Polls to still close at 11 PM EDT

UPDATE at 7:40 PM EDT July 24, 2017: Due to CaptainChimpy having voted while apparently not having been an official UC member, the Court has postponed the release of the election results.

The United Cities Election will end tonight at 11 PM EDT, following 7 days of voting. New people will be elected for every position except Attorney General.

2017 Election in progress Follows slight delay

The July 2017 Election is now in progress. This follows a delay of an hour caused by codes not being distributed by the Electoral Commission fast enough to be on time. Voters are now going to the polls to pick the next administration. The Electoral Commission was confirmed on Sunday night, with MinecraftYoshi26 being the Chief Electoral Commissioner and the other four Electoral Commissioners being _ezzo, FredTheTimeLord, Soleurs, and ryanfr.

_Kastle and godzilltrain retained as Moderators Follows three month probation period

Frumple announce on Sunday just prior to the GSM that _Kastle and godzilltrain will be retained as Moderators past their probation period. Both were promoted to Trial Moderator at the April 2017 GSM and were the first staff members to bear the "[Trial Mod]" tag, although they were not the first to be on probation. There was a lot of speculation about whether they would be kept past their probation period. This leaves jphgolf4321 as the only Trial Moderator currently.

The General Staff Meeting is currently in progress. It started at 3 PM EDT. The private portion has a total of 19 topics, including two road proposals, five project proposals, and four road proposals. The agenda is viewable at [1].

Registration for Election closes Town Halls held by MRT NewsChannel

The deadline for the United Cities Election passed on Thursday night and the field for the election is set. Four candidates are running for President: MikeRoma of the MRT Green Party, BernCow of the MRT Federalist Party, and Independents Skelezomperman and camelfantasy. Only one candidate registered for Attorney General, that being the incumbent KittyCat11231 who barring anything extreme will become the Attorney General-elect on July 23. For Chief Justice, three candidates registered: Associate Justice mjpwwf of the MRT Federalist Party, tomtomy8 of the Labour Party, and Independent dragonbloon419. Two registered for the other two positions. For Vice President, Secretary of State mine_man_ of the Social Democratic Party and mdbro55 of the MRT Green Party, and for Secretary of State, AlikSong of the MRT Green Party and independent MindBender15.

As of the latest JPA Poll, released on Saturday, July 1, MikeRoma, mine_man_, AlikSong, and mjpwwf were leading the races for President, Vice President, Secretary of State, and Chief Justice respectively, although several candidates were not included in that poll.

The Town Halls were also held by MRT NewsChannel for Chief Justice, Vice President, and President, which was moderated by MRT News Report anchor Skelezomperman. Candidates were given the chance to answer questions made by the general public. Many of the candidates touched on the same topics, including the inactivity of the Parks and Recreation Committee and the politicization of the United Cities.

Beta server opened to public for testing IP: minecartrapidtransitnet:35565

On Monday evening, Frumple opened the Beta server to testing. It has been used by Staff for a few weeks now to test 1.12. The IP of the Beta server is minecartrapidtransit.net:35565 and was opened to the public for testing the update. It can only accommodate 20 players as opposed to the 40 of the main server.

A few plugin changes did also occur, including the introduction of the Lift plugin, which will be used alongside EasyElevator. It is simpler to use than EasyElevator for some players and also has different speeds. Three plugins were also replaced, specifically zPermissions with LuckPerms, ChairsReloaded with BetterChairs, and TimeGivesYouMoney with TimeIsMoney.

It is unknown when the actual update to 1.12 will occur.

Team GOP wins The Amazing Race 7

The Amazing Race 7 concluded on Saturday night with Team GOP (Narnia17 and jphgolf4321, the latter substituted by KittyCat11231 in the entire session) coming back with a stunning upset of 2 Brains 2 Drunks. 2 Brains 2 Drunks (mine_man_ and godzilltrain) had won Legs 7 and 8 by large margins, while Team GOP barely survived elimination in Leg 8 after a 20-minute penalty. War Flashbacks (AyyLion and Cookie46910) and Mind Your Bases (Baseball02 and MindBender15) were eliminated in Legs 7 and 8, respectively.

2 Brains 2 Drunks was widely expected to win their third straight Amazing Race (in teams), and got to a fast start after the first two challenges. However, they fell behind Team GOP in the final challenge, and they finished a marathon leg which lasted over 3 hours, capping off a session which lasted for over 6 hours. 2 Brains 2 Drunks finished second, while Derpy_bus22 (MikeRoma and autobus22) finished third. MRT NewsChannel did televise the entire session live.

Narnia17 and jphgolf4321 split a $10000 prize; it is believed that a part of it was given to KittyCat11231 for his participation in the final session.

Deadline for GSM passes GSM to be held Sunday, July 9

7:37 PM EDT July 7, 2017

The deadline to submit proposals for the GSM passed on Friday afternoon. This is 48 hours before the start of the GSM at 1900 UTC (3 PM EDT) on Sunday, July 9.

An agenda was also revealed for the GSM at [2]. This includes 4 project proposals, 2 road proposals, and 4 auction requests. The status of Trial Moderators godzilltrain and _Kastle are also both to be resolved by the GSM as the probation periods for both of them expire that day.

MRT NewsChannel will livestream the public portion of the GSM starting at 5 PM EDT on Sunday.
