The MRTvision Screenshot Contest 11 is eleventh edition of the MRTvision Screenshot Contest. The contest is a server-wide screenshot competition with Eurovision-style voting and representation.

The ceremony took place in Hamblin, following ArizTrad's win at the tenth contest with the screenshot "Crowded Solitude". The contest debuted with a soft opening on December 16, 2022, with an official opening taking place a day later. The contest's slogan is "In Vivid Color". The winner was revealed on January 21, 2023, at 8 p.m. UTC at the Hamblin Shard Theater. There was an official MBS livestream for both the semi-final and final ceremonies.

39 cities participated in the contest. The winner was Caprica with the screenshot "High Expectations", taken by Tonster__.

Production

The contest was first announced on December 16, 2022, by McYoshi26 submitting an event funding proposal to the proposals MRT Discord thread channel, creating its respective page on the MRT Wiki, and posting an announcement in the event-announcements channel in the MRT Discord. The host city and venue were announced as Hamblin on the same day.

The non-qualifiers' placements and point totals in the semi-finals were released on January 20, 2023, following voting being completed for the final.

Venue

The venue of the contest, the Hamblin Shard Theater, in western Hamblin

The contest's results ceremonies took place in a town owned by ArizTrad for the first time, following Malosa's victory in the previous edition with the screenshot "Crowded Solitude", taken by ArizTrad. The host city and venue were announced on December 16, 2022.

The contest took place at Hamblin's 370-seat theater, the Hamblin Shard Theater. The venue was constructed circa 2019, as a part of the Urban Recreation Center. The closest transit to the theater are H5 and WS11 stations on the MRT Savannah Line and MRT Western Line, respectively. Other transit nearby the Hamblin Shard Theater is the Hamblin Watermill Station to the east and Hamblin Municipal Airport to the southwest.

A permanent special bus service on Seabeast Buses was created, connecting the front of the theater on route 000 to other parts of the city.

ArizTrad constructed stalls for each participant to furnish outside of the venue at the Shard Events Plaza, with the rooves of the stalls being the flag of the participant's city.

Visual design

The contest's logo and slogan were announced on December 16, 2022. The contest's logo and slogan were created by ArizTrad. They were originally submitted to the bidding process for the previous contest, where it was shortlisted.

As a part of the bidding process in the previous contest, ArizTrad privately described the creation and design of the slogan and logo:

"My main idea for this theme was for it to be crystalline and light, with its graceful touch of pastel colors. Part of what inspired this was the name of the theater - Hamblin 'Shard' Theater, which evokes an image of glass or crystal. Because jewelry is often associated with the upper class, a touch of that is also present in the theme. The theater itself embodies this concept as well, with its large chandeliers and rich brown and gold color scheme. The slogan, 'In Vivid Color', represents the bright and dazzling color that gems have."

The logo and the MBS broadcast used a range of pastel colors. The broadcasts' intros featured a gallery of the contest's entries.

Format

Similarly to the previous contests, the contest featured members representing cities, each submitting a screenshot to be voted on by the participants and the willing public. Each city and willing non-participants award a set of 12, 10, 8–1 points to their 10 favorite screenshots, respectively. Each participant was required to vote in their semi-final or may face disqualification, being banned from participating in future contests, or paying a fine. Similarly to most of the previous contests, there was no theme.

The deadline to join was announced as January 1, 2023. The deadline to send in a screenshot was announced as January 7, 2023. After the semi-final reveal ceremony, the draw order was selected for the final, and voting opened for the final near the end of the ceremony. The winner is able to influence the slogan for the next contest, choose the next host city, and receive $3,000. Second place received $2,000. Third place received $1,000. All competitors received $20 as a participatory stipend for voting.

On December 24, 2022, it was announced that a new Central Park was being put in place for 2023, which included locations for the top 10 screenshots to be featured inside the MRT Welcome Centre inside the park in in-game map form, as the carousel featuring the screenshots was removed from the MRT website by Frumple on July 17, 2022. A new slider was placed on the MRT website on January 21, 2023, featuring the top 10 screenshots. After the screenshots were put on the MRT website, McYoshi26 announced the same day that the screenshots would not be featured in the MRT Welcome Centre, citing the number of maps it would take, possible lag issues, and how some screenshots may become illegible. Later in January 2023, solely the winning screenshot was displayed in map form in the MRT Welcome Centre.

Semi-final allocation draw

On December 29, 2022, it was confirmed that there would be two semi-finals. The top 10 screenshots from each semi-final advance to the final.

For the seventh time, there were pots created for semi-final allocation drawings. The 39 semi-finalists were allocated into five pots, based on aggregate rankings by participant, not by city, from prior contest data. Drawing from different pots helps to reduce the chance of lopsided semi-finals by predicted placement from prior contests. The semi-final allocations occurred on January 6, 2023. Malosa's draw number for the final was also selected.

Prior participants

• Broville – On December 23, 2022, when asked about their participation, bro1bro2 stated that they were busy with other obligations and family; however, they noted that they would join if they found time to participate. They failed to confirm provisional interest by the deadline. Broville last participated in the tenth contest.
• Cornwall – On December 17, 2022, Spegit officially declared their participation under Kanata. Due to Cornwall being a part of Kanata, Cornwall could not participate. Cornwall last participated in the tenth contest.
• Kessler – On December 31, 2022, when asked about their participation, lalaboy stated that they had no time to participate. Kessler last participated in the tenth contest.
• Niwen – On December 29, 2022, DNAmaster10 officially declared participation under Nibel. Thus, there was no representative for Niwen. Niwen last participated in the tenth contest.
• Santa Abeja – On December 24, 2022, daltdisneyland declined participation. Santa Abeja last participated in the tenth contest.
• Titsensaki – On December 24, 2022, when asked about their participation, frogggggg stated that they would not be able to come onto the server to take a screenshot before the deadline. Titsensaki last participated in the tenth contest.
