Article review:

A featured article exemplifies the MRT Wiki's best work and is distinguished by appropriate writing and presentation. Featured articles have the following attributes:

The article is:

  • well-written: its prose is grammatically correct, readable, and flows
  • comprehensive: it neglects no major facts or details and places the subject in context and is truthful
  • neutral: it presents views neutral point of view, fairly and without bias
  • of a proper length: it stays focused on the main topic without going into unnecessary detail
  • distinguishes between role-play and real aspects: it clearly distinguishes what truly exists and what is role-play and lore
    • Why: When a reader with no knowledge of the subject comes to an article, it should be clear to them what is real and what is fictitious. New readers may not know anything about a subject, so a lack of distinction between the two can create confusion and misinformation on what truly exists. Although fictional history, train schedules, university courses, government services, culture, and other lore or role-play aspects are fine in moderation, they should be kept to a minimum. If a page or section is mainly about role-play or lore and is appropriate to keep on the page, it should be clearly labeled as such in-text and using the appropriate template. If the information is not necessary, it may be best to omit it completely.
  • stable: it is not subject to ongoing edit wars and its content does not change significantly from day to day, except in response to the featured article process
    • Why: Articles that require changes may quickly become outdated. For example, the article Conductor nomination system requires monthly updates to be fully accurate and would become unfeatured if not updated regularly.
  • free of plagiarism

The article follows proper style guidelines, including:

  • a lead: a concise lede section that summarizes the topic and prepares the reader for the detail in the subsequent sections
  • appropriate structure: a substantial but not overwhelming system of hierarchical section headings
  • a proper infobox: if applicable, infoboxes should be used correctly, with no missing information or extraneous information and headers
  • useful images: if applicable, images should be used where appropriate, with succinct captions. In most cases, images should be inside boxes and no larger than 300px
  • proper formatting: the information on the page should be formatted in a readable way, with style aspects being consistent with other featured articles. Proper headers, formatting, and templates, should be used. No extraneous stylistic elements, such as misuse of bold, italics, colors, and templates, should be present in the article
    • appropriate linking: other pages on the Wiki referenced should be appropriately linked, either only the first time they are mentioned, with exceptions for later notices, or the first time they are mentioned per section
  • a history, development, or background section: when applicable, a section on how the topic was developed or created. Most pages, specifically town pages, are required to have the section to be of featured status
