POLICY

Many members are starting to write custom plugins for the MRT server that do various things. While we encourage you to develop software on your own (it's super fun and great practice), in the interest of server security we do require that all plugins go through the BukkitDev approval and review process. We do this for two reasons:

  • Plugins hosted on BukkitDev are significantly less likely to cause harm to our server, and
  • Our plugins are available to the entire Minecraft community, not exclusively the MRT. This means that other players can set up a server similar or identical to ours if they wish.

You can view our current list of plugins in Minecraft by running the command /plugins or /pl.

We also require that our plugins are tested on the Beta server before they're tested on the main server. This is because there are often times unforeseen plugin combinations or bugs that don't arise until the plugin is loaded onto a server. One example is the plugin SmileyChat, which caused the server to randomly restart while it was installed and enabled. This was caught on the beta server, so it was not pushed to the main.

We usually have test plugins on the beta server for about two weeks before they're pushed over to Main.
