NMPV-TV is a full-power television station licensed to Mons Pratus serving the Zephyr North area. It is an owned and operated station of the Box Television Network and its studios are located on Madden Road in West Mons Pratus, alongside the studios of MRT NewsChannel, owned by . The transmitter is located atop the Peace Tower, the tallest building in the Zephyr North area.

History

NMPV-TV was signed on in 1960 by the Mons Pratus Broadcasting Company, a consortium of local investors who also owned radio stations NMPV-AM and NMPV-FM. By that point the MBS affiliation in the area was already taken by Laclede's NOPE, however NMPV was able to build a niche following in the Mons Pratus area and its surroundings, primarily serving that area through Channel 7 Eyewitness News. While Eyewitness News was unable to compete with NOPE (MBS 11 News) in the ratings, it still ran though the well-wishes of the viewers of the Mons Pratus area. By the 2000s however, the Mons Pratus Broadcasting Company was bought by the Looking East Corporation, who used Mons Pratus as a hub for the new cable news channel in the MRT, MRT NewsChannel. Looking East invested into the station immensely so it would generally target the entire market. This, combined with cuts by the Lacledic government to NOPE when Laclede entered into austerity, made NMPV a factor in the ratings for the first time, and it became one of the highest rated independent stations in the MRT.

NMPV currently has two subchannels. Subchannel 7.1 carries NMPV's main programming. 7.2 was initially launched in 2006 when NMPV signed on its digital signal and originally was a simulcast of MRT NewsChannel in Standard Definition 480i. Later, in 2012 when NMPV switched over from analog to digital, 7.2 dropped MRT NewsChannel and became a loop of NMPV's radar. Finally, in 2015 it changed its name to "24-hour Eyewitness News" and became a loop of NMPV's most recent newscast. It also has been used, however, to carry simulcasts of MRT NewsChannel during breaking news events while 7.1 was carrying local newscasts.

Eyewitness News

Eyewitness News is the branding for NMPV's newscasts, used since the 1980s.

Currently, NMPV produces 68 1/2 hours of newscasts.
