Nansei Cruise Lines, abbreviated as NCL, is a cruise ship company based out of Wenyanga. It was founded on 15 April 2021, by Airplaneguy9. It offers pleasure cruises around the world, with its fleet of various cruise ships. It is the largest cruise line on the server by active ship count, as well as the first to start services. The legacy of NCL's founding established the cruise ship industry as a brand new industry on the MRT, and boosted tourism to many regions around the world.

History

On 15 April 2021, Nansei-Gunto's Prime Minister AirplaneNiner announced the following:

"The second [company being founded] is Nansei Cruise Lines (NCL), a cruise ship line that will offer leisure cruises around coastal areas. The company has ordered two Mercury-class cruise ships from Wenyanga Shipbuilders [now Azalea Shipbuilders], and will be placing them into service soon. The Wenyanga Harbor will be gaining an R12.8 billion expansion, offering brand new facilities for cruise ships, and widening the port to support them. Talks are in place for expansions of the ports of Nansei-Gunto cities for accommodation of the cruise ships, as well as other regions for cruise service."

The MS Lake Ruby (then just the Ruby) under construction

The new company immediately ordered 2 new Mercury-class (now Ruby-class) cruise ships from Wenyanga Shipbuilders (now Azalea Shipbuilders), to be used on routes which don't have much traffic. The first ship, the MS Ruby, was finished the same day, and the second ship, MS Scarlet, started construction the day afterward. A third ship, MS Rose, was ordered a day later, to be larger than her two sisters. Upon Ruby's entry into service, she became the largest - and only - cruise ship in service.

MS Lake Pearl under construction

With the entry of two brand new cruise lines in Wenyanga, NCL immediately ordered their newest ship on 20 April, the Pearl-class MS Lake Pearl. Lake Pearl is 82m long, nearly four times longer than any Ruby-class ship. When she entered service on April 24, 2021, she became the largest cruise ship in active service. At the same time, the three other ships had Lake added to their names. Pearl became the only cruise ship in active service until the completion of the 101m long Azalea Arctic the next day.

Sister ships Lake Sapphire and Lake Topaz were ordered on April 23. Sapphire was quickly finished, becoming NCL's largest ship at 94m, and she entered service between the islands of Itavanga. Topaz was finished on April 29, becoming the first ship in NCL's fleet to break 100m, and the largest - and widest - ship in the fleet thus far. She homeports out of Dogwood.

On April 25, some people noticed that 'Lake Diamond' had been trademarked in Nansei-Gunto. When asked about Lake Diamond, Airplane simply said "Soon". On May 1, Lake Diamond and Lake Jade were announced as the next two ships to enter the NCL fleet. Lake Diamond was completed on 15 July, earning the title of world's largest cruise ship, beating out Azalea Arctic at 33,000 GT.

On May 22, NCL decided to form a subsidiary with Azalea Cruises to form Magic Cruise Line, a cruise line based out of Seoland. It was formed to operate an abandoned cruise ship sitting in Seoland, namely the Magical Holiday. This partnership led to talks between the two cruise lines, and on May 27, NCL, Azalea, and Magic merged to become subsidiaries under the Azalea Group. A new cruise line owned by NCL, Mokupuni Cruises, was founded, utilizing older ships.

On July 17th, three new Ecstasy-class cruise ships were ordered, however the third ship was later cancelled. This marks the first time NCL has ordered a ship under the Azalea brand. NCL’s first Ecstasy-class ship, Lake Emerald, is expected to enter service in February 2022.

On October 15, a brand-new terminal was built at Lake Pearl's new Wenyanga port-of-call called Port Nelsonburg. On the same day, it was announced that Lake Jade would be sailing within the Mokupuni Islands, while new ship Lake Amethyst would be sailing within the USE.

On December 30th, following Airplaneguy9's resignation as Azalea Group's co-CEO, STthecat, the other CEO of Azalea Group, Azalea Cruises and Zee Village became the new CEO of Nansei Cruise Lines.

On January 15, 2022, NCL ordered two new Turquoise-class cruise ships, which were revealed to be named as Lake Turquoise and Lake Aquamarine respectively.

Fleet

All ships contain the prefix "Lake", a tradition which started on 20 April 2021. Before then, NCL's first three Ruby-class ships (since sold to Horizon River Cruises) were simply named MS Ruby, Scarlet and Rose.

Pearl-class

The Pearl-class cruise ships are much larger than Ruby-class ships, and are one of the first cruise ships in the world. The first ship, Lake Pearl, is around 80m long, and offers much more facilities, such as an onboard 5-star restaurant, two pools, a casino, and 60 staterooms. They operate between 4 and 7-night cruises around the world. The Pearl-class competes with Royal Nanseisian's 120m Fantasy-class ships. Lake Pearl, is actively cruising in Nansei-Gunto. Lake Sapphire serves Itavanga, and Lake Topaz serves out of Dogwood.

Incidents

Collision as seen from Unity of the Seas

Supposed lifeboat tampering

On April 22, a crewmate identified as belonging to NCL was caught on CCTV cameras attempting to tamper with the port lifeboats of Aqua Cruises' MS Veintinueve de Mayo. NCL states the footage was doctored, and the actual assailant was a Royal Nanseisian crew member. Aqua Cruises has taken NCL to court over the footage. A court hearing later ruled that the footage was in fact real, and sanctions on the CEO, Airplaneguy9, were placed by Shenghua.

Lake Pearl collision

On April 23, 2021, as Lake Pearl was reversing out of Wenyanga Cruise Terminal, she struck Royal Nanseisian's MS Unity of the Seas, then still under construction. While Lake Pearl sustained no damage, it tore a 15x25 hole through Unity of the Seas, damaging it severely enough to delay its release. NCL immediately paid R100 million to pay for cost of damages sustained to both ships, and was fined R10 million by the City of Wenyanga. The incident delayed both Unity of the Seas' completion, and Lake Pearl's maiden voyage.

Unity of the Seas was moved to the dock next to Lake Pearl, where she was fixed up. After the incident, Wenyanga Shipyards was ordered to move all under construction ships into their respective docks at the cruise terminal.

It is now forbidden to construct a ship outside of its dock in Wenyanga.

Lake Topaz reef incident

Negligent docking procedures

Shortly after Lake Pearl entered service, she hit the dock while attempting to dock in Shenghua. This also took out a bit of the ceiling above the dock. This, plus the earlier Unity of the Seas collision, sparked an investigation into the docking procedures being taught at NCL.

Lake Topaz drydock incident

On May 27, 2021, while Lake Topaz was being led into drydock azaleatwo to finish construction, she hit a reef that had grown inside the dock, causing her keel to burst open, and water to flood the bottom floor. The reef was moved and the drydock quickly expanded to fit Topaz. Like her smaller sister, this significantly delayed not only the ship's completion, but the construction of the brand new drydocks at Wenyanga, all of which were quickly expanded.

Coronavirus cases

20 cases were reported on Lake Diamond while it was sailing between Creeperville and Hendon. The ship returned to Hendon and was quarantined for a week before returning to service. This prompted Azalea Group to only allow vaccinated guests onboard their ships.
