New Prubourne is a Senator city founded and owned by Spegit, located at V51 on the MRT Valley Line. Founded on January 14, 2023, New Prubourne is located at the center of a large river system. It is the capital of the Meridian state Neverta and is the county seat of Cooper County.
New Prubourne is named after the Old World town of Prubourne.
History
Foundation and hiatus (2023)
New Prubourne was founded on January 14, 2023, by Spegit. Spegit originally chose what is the neighborhood of Krypton to start a downtown area; however, she believed that the area was too small and moved across the river to a larger area, which Spegit believed was more suitable for a downtown. Spegit built Halson Terminal's exterior shell around V51 Station. Several skyscrapers and the city hall were constructed next. Zuoj was then selected as New Prubourne's deputy mayor. Spegit proposed a plan for the B46 to Rattlerville, which was approved a week later on January 23, 2023.
New Prubourne was promoted to Councillor on February 11, 2023. After the promotion, the B460, known locally as the Scholar Freeway, was developed around the Downtown and Krypton neighborhoods. On May 28, 2023, New Prubourne was promoted to Mayor. Spegit began building New Prubourne's bus system, subway system, and streetcar, which has now been demolished. Spegit started building a heliport for New Prubourne; however, Spegit decided that the area chosen was "not suitable" and moved construction south of the Scholar Freeway. HarborRandom852 began building a subway line, the S1, with Spegit's permission.
In June 2023, Spegit's computer suffered a battery problem that was not resolved until November 2023, resulting in no construction occurring in New Prubourne.
Spegit's return (2023–present)
Spegit came back to the server in November 2023 and continued her work on New Prubourne. HarborRandom852's subway line was removed for expansion of the town, as Spegit believed it "took up too much space". She planned out New Prubourne's future neighborhoods and published a planning document while on hiatus. The University and Sandstone neighborhoods were fully planned out in late November 2023.
New bus routes opened, with buses purchased from Multi Heavy Industries. On November 18, 2023, the town's heliport was moved from its under-construction site in Sandstone to Drywood, and named West Sands Heliport.
On February 9, 2024, New Prubourne was promoted to Senator by a vote of 5–0. Over the following month New Prubourne International Airport was built, with gates currently being requested.
Geography
New Prubourne is located along the second extension of the MRT Valley Line in Ward 4. New Prubourne is located in the desert and savannah biomes, with numerous rivers intersecting in the town, including the Prubourne River. The Prubourne River intersects with an unnamed river at the base of Downtown. Parks are located at the base of the river as it winds throughout the New Prubourne.
The closest town to New Prubourne is Enterprise to the southwest. In relation to other settlements, Rattlerville is to the west, Princeton Junction is to the northwest, and Sycamore is to the north.
Etymology
New Prubourne gets its name from the Old World town of Prubourne. Spegit chose the name as she was into Old World town names at the time.
As Prubourne was one of the original terminus stations of the Old World MRT, Frumple named the station when he built it. According to Frumple, the name Prubourne was randomly generated in the game Transport Tycoon.
Neighborhoods
As of November 2023, New Prubourne has five neighborhoods:
- Downtown – Downtown is a dense urban district in the center of the city. It is bounded to the north, west, and east by the Prubourne River, and to the south by the Scholar Freeway. Downtown has several smaller districts, residential and commercial. The MRT Valley Line splits the eastern part of Downtown in two.
- Eastside – Eastside is a small subdistrict of Downtown containing smaller residential apartments and a theatre. The Eastside subway station, serving trains A and C, is located in Eastside.
- Riverbend – Riverbend is a large residential neighborhood west of the Prubourne River. It is split by the Scholar Freeway and an unnamed river. The neighborhood contains the city's heliport, the West Sands Heliport. Riverbend is planned to be a modern-style neighborhood with large houses and small yards. Retail spaces are planned to be at the edges of the neighborhood.
- Krypton – Krypton is a large residential and office neighborhood, split by the Scholar Freeway. Krypton is mostly based on Brooklyn in New York City. Krypton was originally intended to be New Prubourne's downtown but was rejected as the area was too small for a downtown development.
- Sandstone – Sandstone is a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood south of Downtown New Prubourne. It is bordered by Drywood to the west, the Scholar Freeway to the north, and the Prubourne River to the east.
- University – Uniersity is the neighborhood where the University of Neverta's main campus is. It is bordered by the Prubourne River to the south, Scholar Freeway to the west, Englinton Drive to the north, and Crowfoot Boulevard to the east.
- Drywood - Drywood is a large residential neighborhood north of the B46 and across from the University district. Englinton Drive curves around the neighborhood's multiple hills and valleys.
- Penn Island - Penn Island is a small island in between Wuster Gardens and Krypton. It hosts the city's zoo and a planned subway station.
Planned neighborhoods
As of January 2024, there are an additional six neighborhoods planned to be built in New Prubourne.
- Garfield Heights – Garfield Heights is planned to be a suburban neighborhood with greenery, 1940s-style houses, parks, and businesses.
- Richmond – Richmond is a planned neighborhood where the city's main airport is planned to be located.
- Wuster Gardens – Wuster Gardens is planned to be a 1940s-style neighborhood with apartments and modern houses surrounding original houses. The district is named after George Wuster, the fictional founder of Wuster's Burgers.
- Mayfair Point - Mayfair Point is planned to be a small elite residential and shopping area located south of Wuster Gardens and east of Crowfoot Boulevard.
- Valley Pointe - Valley Pointe is planned to be an industrial neighborhood with many factories and warehouses.
- Crownhills - Crownhills is planned to be a modern neighborhood based on 2010s-2020s neighborhoods in Calgary and Toronto.
Transit
Local
The New Prubourne Transit Authority controls all local transit in the city, which includes the bus and subway routes. New Prubourne has local bus routes, mostly serving Downtown. The New Prubourne Subway was started by Spegit near the foundation of the town; however, the system was scrapped for being "too confusing and cluttered". The current system started construction in December 2023, with five lines and eight services.
Intercity
Rail
The MRT Valley Line serves New Prubourne at V51. The station was originally built by FredTheTimeLord under the Valley Line Extension in late 2022. Spegit built Halson Terminal around it and later replaced the MRT station interior to match the exterior of the terminal.
Halson Terminal is a railway terminal complex located north of Eastside. MarbleRail is planned to go to the station via the Atomic Line. A warp rail and TrainCart rail terminal were built under the terminal in December 2023. The terminal also hosts V51 on the MRT Valley Line; subway services A and C and the North Street Shuttle; and bus routes 1, 2, 3, and 60.
Road
New Prubourne is connected to the New World Highway System via the B46 and B47, traveling towards Rattlerville and Sycamore respectively.
Air
New Prubourne is home to the West Sands Heliport, located in west New Prubourne in Drywood next to the Scholar Freeway.
