Newark is a Councillor city founded by FredTheTimeLord, located on the southern extension of the MRT Valley Line.
History
Origin
Newark was originally founded around October 8th after Fred wanted to take a break from working on cities based on specific real life locations, such as Boston (based off Boston, Massachusetts and London, England) and New Bakersville City (based off New York). Instead, Newark was planned to be roughly based on North American cities around the Great Lakes and the Northeast United States with no one specific source of inspiration. The layout of the town originates around the present-day Old Towne Green located just outside of City Hall.
Infrastructure
Newark has a vast waterway system, defining district boundaries. Because of this, any street that passes through multiple districts use a bridge. This limitation also leads to the multilevel streets located in the Downtown district. The upper levels allow for higher density development by reducing the need for ramps in order to cross over the rivers.
