The MRT Plains Line, or simply the Plains Line, is one of the 22 lines of the New World MRT System and one of the 11 initial New World MRT lines built in conjunction with the Gamma server update.
History
The Plains Line was one of the 11 initial lines built in New World. The initial section goes from Central City Northwest Terminal to P29 Hatton Cross, located in Lakeview.
The Plains Line was first mentioned in the New World MRT plans in August 2014. The route took according to the plan is Central City to southeastern corner via Haibian. It was colored lime and would've terminated at a big terminal with transfers to Island, Southern, Valley, Eastern and Forest Lines. Later, it was recolored green, with lime being used for MRT Eastern Line. Additionally, the route is slightly adjusted in the southeast, instead terminating at a terminal with transfers to Eastern and Island Lines.
Before the New World opened, a minor change was made is that the Plains and Valley routings south of Plains/Valley interchange at Scarborough was swapped, with Plains Line going via Lakeview and Valley Line going via Haibian, including their termini as the MRT infrastructure built for Gamma plans located near Pearl Coast and Dulwich has a Eastern-Island-Valley terminal and Southern-Forest-Plains terminal.
When New World opened, the Plains Line wasn't fully complete due to a "time overrun" and BaronThamesBank had to build the section between P27 and P29 during the opening days of New World in order to complete the initial segment.
In Frumple's Epsilon MRT plans at the May 2017 GSM, it would take a straight shot to meet with the far east line, now known as MRT Jungle Line.
In March 2019 GSM, an extension to Richville International Airport was proposed by the Red-Xenive Union and sponsored by hvt2011 was approved. It was completed around 2 weeks after the GSM.
In the Zeta MRT plans by Frumple at April 2020, it would be extended to meet with MRT Jungle Line and after crossing Jungle Line, it would either turn to the north to go to Anthro Island or keep going east, with both routes intersecting with MRT Forest Line.
In May 10, 2020, godzilltrain constructed the extension to Hannibal, after being approved to extend the line in May 2020 GSM. This extension was built in a single day and opened in June 2020 GSM.
In May 30, 2021, after the May 2021 ISM, Skelezomperman began extending the line to Caravaca after a ground-breaking ceremony held east of the P56 station. Before that, pretzel33 advocated for the extension of the line to Caravaca as early as August 2020, sometimes bothering every staff member promoted to build the line according to sesese9, and Skelezomperman considered the idea of extending the line in January 2021, it didn't happen until May 2021 due to the size of the towns being served and MRT line extensions into Zeta back then usually required a few senator cities in order to justify a extension. The extension was completed in July 13, 2021 and opened in July 2021 ISM.
After the extension was opened, there was many proposals to extend the Plains Line to the east to Barshat Abtalit. However, in the Zeta MRT plans by Frumple at November 2022, it would instead go directly south from Caravaca to meet with MRT Southern Line then would turn east to meet with MRT Union Line. pretzel33 made 2 extensions to this line, both of them had to be retracted, with the first extension extending it to the southeast world corner which did not quite follow the MRT line plans and that a new north-south line would adequately serve the same area south of MRT Southern Line, while the second extension extended the line to Lifebush but discussion brought up that it could've went south and there is an empty spot that could be better served.
In October 3, 2023, DDaniii_ proposed a extension to Barshat Abtalit, sponsored by Skelezomperman. It was approved at October 6, 2023, with construction starting in November 26, 2023.
Route
The Plains Line runs from Central City to Caravaca via the plains biomes, Covina, Lakeview, Richville and Hannibal. The current travel duration for the line's entire length is approximately 88 minutes.
Original section
The line starts at PX station in Central City Northwest Terminal in a tunnel. After departing from PX, the line immediately goes above ground, before going along the northern side of Central City, which has P0 station located on Eisitasi Avenue over the A1 and Central City Northeast Terminal, which is an interchange station with MRT Expo Line, MRT Valley Line and MRT Forest Line are available.
The general style in this section is that tunnels and viaducts are made out of quartz, with green wool lines down the center and redstone lamps dotted along the way, along with quartz columns, with redstone lamps on it, after P8 station. In ground sections, there are also 2 green wool lines along the sides, also dotted with redstone lamps, and the tunnels are 3 blocks tall. A section of the track between P0 and P1 stations is instead made out of stone bricks, with sea lanterns replacing redstone lamps.
After departing from Central City NE Terminal and crossing A0, the concurrency with MRT Valley Line begins, with the tracks of Plains and Valley Lines crossing together, so between Central City NE Terminal and P6/V6 in Sienos the northern tracks carry inbound Plains/Valley Lines and the southern tracks carry outbound Plains/Valley Lines. In this section, the center lines on the tracks is striped green/pink wool. This is one of the two sections where it happens; the other section is MRT Plains Line and MRT Eastern Line between Lakeview and ES23/P37 station.
In the concurrency, the line goes through forested biomes, then mountains, and the lines briefly go underground at P2 and P5 stations. Towns passed through in this concurrency are Rochshire, Scoton, La Costa and Sienos. The concurrency ends at Sienos, where the lines split, with Plains Line going underground, and Valley Line turning to the south on the way to Woodsbane, Scarborough and points south.
After the concurrency, the line goes under Achowalogen Takachsin-Covina International Airport, with 2 stations dedicated to this airport. The only airports that have 2 dedicated MRT stations are Fort Yaxier International Airport and Kantō International Airport, which have MRT Island Line and MRT Valley Line, and MRT Jungle Line, respectively. The line used to go above ground before P8 station, whose a tiny bit of the incline still exists when looking in spectator mode, and where Appleton used to be, but now it goes above ground before P9, just east of ATC.
Along the section in ATC, there is an abandoned alignment that still exists in sections just north of the current alignment, which takes its shape of a round square and sea lanterns replacing redstone lamps between P7 and just east of P8 station. East of P8 station, there are parts of pillars under ATC that corresponded to the former alignment being elevated. Additionally, there are also track shifts just west of P7 and P8 stations, corresponding to when the stations were shifted when the two halves of ATC were pasted in. The Dynmap markers for P7 and P8 also reflect its original stations' positions, located on the old alignment.
In Covina, which covers 7 stations, including the 2 ATC stations, the line turns to the south to parallel Valley Line, located further west, passing through plains biomes. It passes through towns that were annexed to Covina, which are Victorian City, Vergil and Melrose, with few sections in Victorian City having stone brick railings and retaining walls.
After leaving Covina, the line is on the way to the MRT Forest Line interchange at P17 in Thunderbird, passing through a plains biome, then Quartz Bay and finally briefly through a swamp biome where P16 sits on. Before P15 station, the tracks split, with the outbound and inbound platforms being separated in stations.
Between the interchange with MRT Forest Line at P17 and the interchange with MRT Valley Line at P21, the line goes through Thunderbird and Scarborough, and crossing A4. After the interchange with MRT Valley Line at P21, the line turns to the east, with the tracks merging. It passes through another station in Scarborough, at P22, before leaving Scarborough, where it passes through Montagnas. A section in Scarborough has quartz pillars with green wool down the center, and the style of P20 station being similar to stations in MRT Arctic Line. The line then crosses A4 again, reaching Saint Roux, where a transfer to MRT Circle Line is available at P25 station. The viaducts around Saint Roux is instead in an arch-truss bridge. On the way to Lakeview, the line goes through a big plains biome, crossing A30.
In Lakeview, after passing through P28 station, the concurrency with MRT Eastern Line starts. This is another section where the tracks in a 2-line section are paired by direction instead of tracks. The tracks of Plains Line split, with the inbound track passing under Eastern Line's tracks. Just before P29 station, the Eastern Line tracks split, combining with Plains Line's tracks to form the Eastern Line southbound/Plains Line outbound tracks and Eastern Line northbound/Plains Line inbound tracks.
Plains Extension 1
In the concurrency with Eastern Line, the lines goes through Marblelake Heathrow International Airport at P30/ES16 station, before going underground to pass through a swamp biome. The style in this extension is similar to the original section, and in the concurrency, the lines in the center and the sides have striped lime/green wool instead. After going underground, the tunnels is instead now similar to Just_robinho's MRT style in Eastern Line South, with the tunnel being made out of iron and is 3 blocks tall, and quartz slabs on the bottom between the tracks and center line.
At this point, the lines goes above ground, passing through Crystal Falls and Royal Plaza, and through the southwest plains biome, before crossing A50 where the lines end up in New Hyde Park at P36/ES22.
Plains Extension 2
The style in this extension is similar to the original section, except with the pillars being painted with green wool on the sides. From P36/ES22 station, the Eastern Line tracks combine, and then on P37 station, Eastern Line passes through this station before stopping at ES23 station, which is located south of the Plains Line station, and where the concurrency with Eastern Line ends. Also, there are unused stations for MRT Southern Line and MRT Valley Line built for Gamma plans.
After P37 station, the line turns to the east, going above the unused Southern Line tracks, complete with dedicated Southern Line stations at each Plains Line station along this section. Additionally, the line passes through a taiga biome, and towns along the way are Pearl Coast and Dulwich. Past P40 station, the Southern Line tracks continue, turning to an unused station built for Gamma plans, with additional stations meant for MRT Forest Line and MRT Plains Line.
Plains Extension 3
After P40 station, the line continues across the southwest plains, passing through Silent Plains, Bearainstein and Hensall. The style in this extension is similar to the previous extension, except with sea lanterns replacing redstone lamps and the tunnels being 4 blocks tall. After passing through Hensall, the line goes underground to cross the canal connecting Lake Dulwich and Equinox Ocean before entering New Amsterdam, entering a taiga biome, and briefly surfacing around P46 station, then reaching P47 station in Richville International Airport, where the extension ends.
Plains Extension 4
The extension is built in SimonScholar's (originally godzilltrain) style, with tunnels and viaducts being made of quartz, with green wool lines and redstone lamps dotted along the way. The viaducts also have green wool lines lined with glass railings, and tunnels are 4 blocks tall.
From the mountain biome, after passing through Richville, the line resurfaces, passing through the taiga biome, where Mootown is located at. Then, it enters the mountain biome, passing through Beningbury and Harmony Grove with many underground sections through the biome. East of P54 station in Harmony Grove, the line goes underground to cross a roofed forest, before reaching P56 station in [Hannibal]], where there is a transfer to MRT Jungle Line.
Plains Extension 5
At this point, the line enters Greater East Plains territory. The line turns, going through Parkland before turning again to parallel the B33. In this section, it continues in SimonScholar's style, but when the line goes above ground after passing through Berkeley, the viaduct is instead made out of wood, fitting in with the taiga biome in which this extension goes through after passing through Nuuk. The tunnels the section through the taiga biome has wood in the bottom instead, and there is an interchange with MRT Beach Line at P61 station. Before approaching Prismarine, the line goes underground, and remains underground until Caravaca, where it terminates, passing through Nagahori.
