The MRT Savannah Line, or simply the Savannah Line, is one of the 22 MRT lines of the New World MRT System and one of the 11 additional New World MRT Lines. The line was completed and released to public on 9 March 2019. A southern extension was completed in October 2022.

History

In Frumple's Epsilon MRT plans at the May 2017 GSM, what would become Savannah Line was labeled as a possible new line in southwest Epsilon, since there was room for an additional line parallel and east to MRT Western Line.

In August 2018 GSM, _HeavenAngel_ received approval to build the line, and it used the letter 'H' to represent this line as 'S' was already used for MRT Southern Line. The choice of letter used led to jokes about the line being nicknamed 'Hotline', with sesese9 and SirNatureWriter being responsible for this nickname. The line opened in March 2019 GSM.

This line remained isolated from the rest of MRT system, much like MRT Southern Line for about 9 months, until when MRT Desert Line was extended to meet with this line in June 14, 2019.

In June 2019 GSM, _HeavenAngel_ proposed a short extension of Savannah in order to connect with MRT Southern Line and opened in July 13, 2019, the 7th anniversary of MRT server.

In the Zeta MRT plans by Frumple at April 2020, the line would be extended southeast to meet with MRT Zephyr Line and MRT Island Line, making a turn in the tundra.

In June 26, 2020, chiefbozx was looking to propose MRT Western Line south to meet with MRT Mesa Line and he brought up the idea of building WA, a branch line connecting Western Line with San Vincenzo, Monte Isola and Weston being connected. The justification for the branch existing is to fill in a MRT desert between MRT Expo Line and MRT Western/MRT Mesa Lines. However, time2makemymove suggested that a Savannah northern extension could serve the roughly same destinations and avoid creating a branch line which many people didn't like.

In January 6, 2021, jay_planner (called Yellowitcher at this time) had a plan to extend Savannah Line north, which would go through Weston before meeting with Expo, Western and Taiga before terminating at the  NW26 / T50  station, providing a north-south link west of Western Line.

During the Zeta MRT planning discussions in August 2022, there were discussions on where should Savannah Line be extended north and south. SimonScholar's plan suggested that Savannah should be extended north across Autumnal Sea, passing through Weston, Carnoustie and terminating at Oparia, and intersecting MRT Expo Line, then paralleling MRT Western Line until it reaches Bristol where it splits off, then intersecting with MRT Lakeshore Line before it turns east to end in Oparia, while Frumple's plan which was eventually accepted in October 2022 GSM, the northern extension has an undefined route, and marked as low-priority since it should be considered after most or all extensions in that area have been built, while the southern extension would bring it to MRT Union Line which used to take a more northerly alignment and MRT Island Line.

In midst of Zeta MRT planning before Frumple's Zeta MRT plan was approved, jay_planner proposed the Savannah Line southern extension to Knoxville in September 2022 ISM, sponsored by AP_Red. It was completed in September 2022 and opened in October 2022 GSM.

In January 2023, pretzel33 began planning a short extension to connect with MRT Union Line, passing through passed through Aken Ridge and Valle de las Estrellas. It was proposed in January 11, 2023 with a minor routing change, no longer serving Aken Ridge due to its mayor, unjinz being inactive at this time and the diversion being not favored by staff and sponsored by Foote_Chicken. It was approved to be built in January 15, 2023 and is currently under construction.

Route

The route of the original section of Savannah Line.

The MRT Savannah Line is located in the southwestern part of the New World. The current travel duration for the line's entire length is approximately 56 minutes.

Original section

The line begins south of the Autumnal Sea. The original section is completely straight, running north/south, making it the only MRT line with no turns, before it was extended. Across the section, it visits its namesake, savannah biomes as well as desert biomes and passes through a plains biome for about 4 stations. In this section, transfers are available to MRT Western Line at H5 in Hamblin, MRT Mesa Line at H16 and MRT Oasis Line (originally MRT Desert Line) at H28, and crosses A78 between H7 and H8 stations. The line is mostly above ground along the entire section.

The entire original section and Savannah Extension 1 has wood and terracotta viaducts, with the northbound and southbound tracks being separated, and they are supported by arches, and have glass on the sides, and the tunnels are made out of stone and are 4 blocks tall.

Savannah Extension 1

After passing through Savannah, the line goes underground through Savannah. From H33 station, the line shifts to the west in order to align with the tracks at H35, a transfer station with MRT Southern Line. Before that, the tracks merge.

Savannah Extension 2

The style in this extension is characterized with tunnels and viaducts being made of quartz, with striped lime/brown terracotta lines and redstone lamps dotted along the way. The viaduct lacks sides or railings, but the pillars are made out of quartz, being Y-shaped and having striped lime/brown terracotta down the center. The ground sections have quartz retaining walls and has andesite walls on the sides.

From H35 station, the line turns to parallel MRT Southern Line, entering a tundra biome and crossing the canal connecting Heart Lake and Gray Cloud Lake. The line continues to follow MRT Southern Line until H40/SW33 station, where the line turns, going above ground and crossing A68 on the way to Glacierton. After a few more stations, going through Snowydale and Swifft Valley, the line enters the forest biome before going underground on the way to Knoxville. At H46 station, there is a unused station built that was intended for MRT Union Line, but instead took a more southerly alignment.

Savannah Extension 3

This extension is still under construction as of November 2023. The style of this extension is characterized by tunnels and viaducts made out of stone with brown and green concrete powder dashes on the center, and illuminated by lanterns in tunnels and froglights in above-ground sections.

After H47, the line goes above ground, crossing the plains biome, stopping at H48 before going underground and skirting the edge of the mountains biome, before turning to meet MRT Union Line at H50. From H50, the line would turn to the south to H51, Two Lakes where this extension ends.
