The Seneca Canal is a canal built by _frozen and yeamanator132 that connects Lake Takachsin to Lake Capricorn. The canal was constructed in 2014 and serves numerous cities, including the two Premier cities of Whitechapel and Laclede.
The Seneca Canal is operated by the Seneca Canal Corporation, a subsidiary of Nordic.
Layout
The Seneca Canal is broken into four arms: the Arctic Arm, the Plains Arm, the Zephyr Arm, and the Swamp Arm.
The Arctic Arm of the canal is the southern arm of the canal and is connected to Lake Capricorn. It follows the path of the MRT Arctic Line and serves the cities of Whitechapel, West Calbar, and Radiance Square. The MRT Arctic Line crosses this arm of the Seneca Canal south of Whitechapel.
The Plains Arm is the longest section of the canal and heads east from a point southeast of A14 on the MRT Arctic Line. The arm crosses a plains biome and the MRT Taiga Line between stations T10 and T11. This arm serves Laclede and Christi. It ends near ZN6 station on the MRT Zephyr Line.
The Zephyr Arm parallels the MRT Zephyr Line, stretching from ZN5 to ZN7, with a major ferry maintenance hub located at the northern end of the Zephyr Arm operated by Nordic Shipping for Northern Star Ferries. The Zephyr Arm serves the town of Vashann and Mons Pratus.
The Swamp Arm is the easternmost stretch of the canal before it connects to Lake Takachsin. It uses the natural environment in some places to allow the water to retain a constant level. A minor lake is being used as a portion of the canal.
There is a footpath along portions of the canal, beginning in Whitechapel.
Ferries
There are five stations along the canal that are exclusively serviced by the Northern Star Ferries. Hummingbird Boat Lines's Iris Line has a stop in Laclede along the Plains Arm of the Canal.
Construction rights
As the Seneca Canal is a private build and owned by the Seneca Canal Corporation, a subsidiary of Nordic, members cannot modify the walls or bottom of the canal at any time without express permission from Nordic, however, there are exceptions that allow construction of bridges without explicit permission required, as laid out by the Seneca Canal Corporation.
New bridges over the canal must be either a drawbridge or the bridge's bottom must be 15 blocks above the water level to allow ships to go by without hitting the bridge. The construction of crossings do not require permission from the Seneca Canal Corporation; however, the Seneca Canal Corporation retains the right to request changes to bridges, including the right to destroy any other kind of unauthorized obstacles.
Canal crossings must be at least 100 tiles apart from each other unless the crossing is a tunnel. Tunnels underneath the canal are allowed.
