Sequoia, officially the Republic of Sequoia is a country that controls and governs STthecat's towns in the New World. It is the successor to the DP City Council.

History

In May 2022, after the founding of Walczaka, then-President of the DP City Council STthecat envisioned of forming a proper country to replace the council, which was essentially a government rather than a state.

On August 5, 2022, the DP City Council was formally disbanded, with all four members becoming part of the Republic of Sequoia. The former DPCC World HQ was temporarily renamed as the Sequoia World HQ, with a proper congress building slated to be built soon.

Administrative divisions

Sequoia is currently divided into three municipalities, Dogwood, Parkland and Walczaka, which have a total of eight districts. A “municipality” in Sequoia is defined as a city/town that is within Sequoian jurisdiction, which are divided into “districts”. The districts are further subdivided into small urban planning areas known as “neighbourhoods”.

Economy

Sequoia’s economy and GDP are among the highest of states in the New World. A majority of the employed population in Sequoia work in the industry and manufacturing sector and only has an unemployment rate of 5%.

Industry sector

Sequoia has a diverse economy, with different contributors which work in different sectors in the industry. The largest corporation in Sequoia is Multi Corporation, which is based in the country’s capital Parkland.

Transport

Transport in Sequoia is provided by the means of rail, road, cruise ships and air travel. The two dominant transport operators are Jiffy and Capitol Transit.

Rail

Sequoia is served by a number of warp rail operators, including locally based JiffyRail, RaiLinQ and Iwakanai Express. JiffyRail operates an extensive network of lines and stations which provide seamless inter-city service from Sequoian cities to other parts of the New World.

Capitol Transit is the state-owned intracity operator which maintains a significant presence in Sequoia. It operates the Dogwood Metro Rail system in Dogwood, the Parkland Area Express and bus network in Parkland, the Stone Bay bus network and W-Net bus and commuter rail in Walczaka. Due to its popularity and success in Sequoia, Capitol Transit has also expanded operations to foreign cities in the New World.

Road

Sequoia does not have an official road system as of 2022, its network of roads follow the New World highway system instead but are maintained by the government.

Intercity bus companies that serve Sequoia utilise major bus terminals including the Blackhawk Coast Bus Terminal and Parkland’s Union Station Bus Terminal.

Air

JiffyAir is the sole airline based in Sequoia, which operates from hubs in the country.

Airports in Sequoia are maintained by state-owned Sequoia Airports, which operates the country’s only airport, Parkland Frampton Airfield (PFR) and the Blackhawk Seaplane Terminal (BST). Sequoian airports follow the MCAO designation.

Water

Sequoia ranks as one of the largest in the cruise ship industry, with New Singapore-based Azalea Group using Dogwood as one of its major port-of-calls.

Cruise ship companies in Sequoia serve the Dogwood Madison Beach Cruise Center (MBCC), which was built in May 2022 to suit the needs of the cruise industry. Azalea Group and Platinum Corporation are currently the sole operators in the complex.
