Talk:The Federation

For the time being, I would like to reserve the talk page for feedback about the Framework, which you can find here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1laY-FSNcESWa3qzbPFAfClHX3P1CH4Wm9ZXHmD3pPGc

Any cities interested in joining the Federation needs to wait until the Federation comes on-line. I appreciate your interest, though!

Q&A, comments, and feedback can start below this. Thank you for participating! Frozen (talk) 02:32, 8 April 2016 (EDT)

I think this is a great idea. I'm not KittyCat11231's evil twin! (talk) 07:11, 8 April 2016 (EDT)
I think if this turns out well, we can dissolve the LoC and have the members join this instead, especially if it's more efficient and useful. Camelfantasy (M e h) 09:18, 8 April 2016 (EDT)
Thank you, kitty and camel for your vote of confidence. I Think the LoC can have its own utility as a model UN, to keep activities such as war, intellegence, and other types of roleplay seperate from The Federation which has the purpose of setting up a planning council. Up to you guys, this was never intended to demolish LoC. Frozen (talk) 13:33, 9 April 2016 (EDT)

When will this be accepting members? jphgolf4321 (talk) 12:56, 8 April 2016 (EDT)
Possibly May 2016. I want to ensure everyone reads the frameworks, give me feedback, and have a good set of rules before opening the Federation. I dont want to get stuck in rule-building off the bat. Frozen (talk) 13:33, 9 April 2016 (EDT)

I believe that this is a good start towards a more independent governing and unified community of town owners, as this could not only allow for more transit and greater collaboration with towns that may be farther away, but a host of others things too. Additionally, I wholeheartedly support the patent office, it is a great idea and can most definitively provide a means to make sure that some, if not all players will not produce your products. Of course, it will require guidelines in regards to what can be trademarked, patented, or copyrighted, but that would be a very minuscule task indeed. I will be interested to see how this turns out. --Gopher (talk) 15:04, 8 April 2016 (EDT)
My ULTIMATE goal with The Federation is not the overreaching control of MPOs, but the revivial of regional MPOs that I think will be far more useful than the Federation itself. In fact, if in a year the Federation goes inactive but the Regional MPOS is up and running, I consider that a successful goal. Frozen (talk) 13:33, 9 April 2016 (EDT)

I love this idea, and believe it will be a huge step for an unofficial yet standing form of democratic representation for members of the server. However, I'm getting a 404 error when I try to view the Framework from the main article - bad link, perhaps? (The link on the Talk page goes to a PNG of the Federation's logo.) The Waffleman (talk) 14:16, 8 April 2016 (EDT)
fixed the link, and added more links for more in-depth rules on other branches (Governorate, Mayors, and Courts.) Frozen (talk) 13:33, 9 April 2016 (EDT)

Frozen - I corrected the link. Camelfantasy (M e h) 14:42, 8 April 2016 (EDT)

This is a great idea, which is much more structured and more likely to be successful than the LoC. I propose 3 months of trial period after membership applications open, to see if all goes well. Then we should follow camelfantasy's suggestion to migrate LoC Operations to the Federation. Chimpeh - Gimmeh da bananas now! :D (talk) 15:09, 8 April 2016 (EDT)
I disagree with migrating LoC things to The Federation. The Federation is supposed to correct the flaws in the design and behavior of LoC, and porting things over would result in those same problems happening again. Mustang guy (talk) 18:34, 8 April 2016 (EDT)
^ I'm not KittyCat11231's evil twin! (talk) 19:41, 8 April 2016 (EDT)
Agreed - in essence, the idea for the Federation was conceived to provide a fresh start in the midst of the LoC's flaws. However, I don't think Camel suggested that LoC operations be migrated; rather, they'd be dissolved completely under his plan: "...we can dissolve the LoC and have the members join this instead..." Firstly he's on Governorate. Secondly Frozen has given approval to go on without him. Thirdly this date was discussed within the FCS discord and approved by multiple people. Skelezomperman (talk) (contribs) (email) 14:57, 30 August 2016 (EDT)
