The Golden Arrow is the official newspaper operating in and for the City of Larkspur. It releases regular updates on a weekly basis (every Monday) which summarize events relevant to the city or the surrounding area, such as major openings, transportation plans, and "events" made up by Vickiposa, such as crimes. Breaking News that must be urgently released may break this pattern, however.

New Roadworks
The Interchange between Lacunosa and the Bypass.

December 31st, 2018, 22:03 UTC

LARKSPUR - This week has brought many changes to the transportation network. Throughout the week, three major thoroughfares have been built. The first is an renovated B820 connecting Old Northmont to Downtown, signed from the intersection of Cianwood Drive to the incredibly short (and also new) Anderson Avenue, itself built as a future north-south corridor in the eastern part of the city.

The second is an extension of Lacunosa Parkway from its former eastern terminus at North Astoria Avenue to the third of these new roadways. It goes through rough terrain and hills at the very northern end of the transitional taiga and across Whitlea Creek. Due to the lack of intersections and lack of roadside business for now and in the foreseeable future, the speed limit is faster on this leg at 70 KM/H (45 MPH) instead of the 60 KM/H (40 MPH) for more westerly parts of Lacunosa. In order to give it more purpose, an extension of Cianwood Drive to here is planned but so far not implemented.

The third new project is the construction of the first leg (~300 meters) of a new Larkspur Bypass, a motorway which aims to go around Larkspur downtown from the east to the south to B846 and potentially to the western extension of B820 towards A8 and Willow. The first leg so far only links Lacunosa to Magellan. The road itself is built to A-road standards and features 6 total lanes of high-speed traffic mainly so far functioning as the third bridge crossing Whitlea Creek. It is unclear when future sections will be built around the southern part of town, but it is known that Astoria Avenue will be extended south to become the next exit of the bypass.

Beckham Cross Terminal Completed

The Beckham Cross Terminal.

The second item of discussion this week is the completion of the terminal of Beckham Cross Station under downtown. There are so far three platforms built with room for five trains to be docked. The length of the train platforms is a very long 142 meters in order to accommodate any trains that wish to stop here in the future. And while there are few platforms now, there is ample room for northward expansion of the train terminal.

As for right now, the station is currently empty, but LARLAT has announced plans to create a rail lane to Willow once clearance is given; with a potential extension to Carnoustie later on. In addition, a southwestern line to Cattington, Vegeta, Rosemary, and Birchwood is in the planning stages.

Official Larkspur Discord Created

The official Larkspur Discord has been created at [this link] in order to facilitate city discussion and to spread news about the community. Hope to see everyone there!

Plans for the following Week
Today the city has announced an ambitious building plan for the coming week. Starting today, on Monday, running through Sunday, Vickiposa will build a new building in central Larkspur every day! This is in anticipation for the submission of a Senator application very early next week. Furthermore, unfurnished buildings will be furnished and embassy plots will seek to be opened. Vicki wishes everyone a happy new year and for everyone else who has a break to enjoy it in any way they can! Thanks for reading!

(Also, sorry for this paper for being later than usual; the editors were off on Frumple's stream playing Jackbox)

Larkspur Now Formally a Mayor Town; Northmont Annexed
The Larkspur Flag Waves over Old Northmont.

LARKSPUR - This was a very newsworthy week in terms of Larkspur's own sovereignty as a whole. On Thursday, Frogs4Life (most known as the mayor of Titsensaki) had come on to the server for a while, and, Vickiposa not wanting to waste this chance for a great opportunity, decided to approach Frog for the sale of his relatively underdeveloped and ignored hamlet to Larkspur's east named Northmont, which sits at MRT Station NW21. Sources indicate that while some attempted haggling took place, the price never went below $500, which was ultimately accepted for its sale. While this transaction leads to a whole world of possibilities and reduces the chances the town is stuck without options to expand, opponents on the city council argue that this sale was a major drain on the city treasury and ultimately will do nothing but cause needless sprawl. Only time will tell what becomes of this decision.

The Revamped NW22 station.

And then, on Sunday, two days prior to Christmas, Larkspur had finally achieved the rank of Mayor to widespread congratulation and internal celebration. This allowed Larkspur to officially change the MRT station name of NW22 away from Foobar to Larkspur - Downtown and will soon file a change of the newly acquired NW21 to Larkspur - Northmont. In addition, this granted Vickiposa access to edit the worldguard region surrounding the station and allowed her to make the redesign of the station seen to the right. The unique roof ornament for this building is text--unprecedented in Larkspur--with two sides saying NW22 and the other two sides saying "Larkspur". The insides with the exception of the rail docking area has been radically altered giving more clearance to the RapidCoffee and granting a public walkway to overlook the top. The tunnels connecting the front of the station to the parking lots has temporarily been done way with in lieu of connecting to a larger grid of better-maintained tunnels connecting it and city hall to Beckham Cross Station in what's been referred to as "the Larkspur Underground". It has been said that further modifications will be arriving to the outside at some point but it is not clear on what those modifications are. It has also been announced by LARLAT that a bus connection will soon be established connecting it to the main bus terminal within a greater bus transit network.

Golden Arrow Headquarters Established in Thanksgiving Square

Our new headquarters.

It is a delight for us to announce that our brand-new headquarters has been completed this week facing Thanksgiving Square. It is fully equipped with many workstations to develop written stories and is also equipped with a sound studio and a TV set for future use. Morale at our workstation is as high as ever due to the ability to not have to work in a small, cramped office space while our building was being prepared and immediate access to a cafeteria and break room rolled into one on the floor beneath where most of our staff work. We encourage you the public tours that will be occurring throughout the week.

Level Crossings Follow-Up
It has been announced just yesterday that the first of two crossings addressed last week has been completed. Pacific Avenue now acts as a connector between two halves of the city, instead of being an ugly way to bypass part of the city. We commend the city administration for promptly solving this issue.

Happy Holidays!
And that's it for this issue! And considering what popular holiday is this Tuesday, from all of us at the Golden Arrow, we wish you happy holidays and we hope to see you next week!

Local Newspaper Releases Debut Issue
The official logo for the new newspaper.

LARKSPUR - Unbeknownst to the public, throughout Sunday, Vickiposa had been inspired to create a newspaper for her burgeoning town of Larkspur by other worldwide operators. She got to work that evening and released the first issue, the very one you are reading, that night. In it, readers will be informed of various local goings-on on a weekly basis. This may be anything from construction plans that build up the city or crimes that may break it down, and anything in between if it's relevant. Here's hoping we do not disappoint!

Plans Announced to Remove Horrible Bridges
Along the MRT Northern Line in Larkspur, two figures seem to dominate the crossing: the two bridges, one at Pacific Avenue, and the other along Violet Avenue. Both are plain stone brick bridges, with the road being separated from the outside by a single row of oak wooden fencing. Understandably, this arrangement has visitors and residents alike upset with some describing them as "tumors on an otherwise beautiful city architecture" and "ugly as balls". Recently, however, the LDoT and LED have jointly announced plans to tend to each bridge. The Pacific Avenue Bridge will be the first to go in the coming days, with it being completely demolished and replaced by a direct at-grade intersection at Verity Drive and a level rail crossing, made possible due to the precedent of Embassy Lane's level crossing. Both the previous crossing and future crossing will be legitimized by an overall permit from MinecraftYoshi26 allowing a level crossing at an MRT line as long as its function remains intact. This plan will be carried out in the following days, and will not only remove an eyesore but bring the northern part of the city closer in and encourage development. The Violet Avenue bridge, meanwhile, has longer to go--the city announced that a demolition and reconstruction of the bridge will be carried out as part of the construction of Dunkirk Boulevard and a gateway into the city contingent on administrative approval of a B820 extension out to an also extended A8 near Willow at the General Staff meeting coming up on the 12th of January. They have also stated that if the project is denied then a backup plan to rebuild Violet Avenue will be drafted.
