Victoria, formerly known as Port City of Victoria, is a major senator-class city, located on the southern Epsilon region of the New World. It is the third-largest city in the region, with over 60+ citizens currently living in the city. The Coastal Point area serves as the city's main metropolitan area, which makes it the 25th largest metropolitan area on the New World. Victoria is one of the most ethnically and economically diverse towns on the New World, with many of its citizens having a first language other than the English language.

Victoria is consistently named as one of the top most beautiful cities on the server and the City Rank Candidate Batches Commission acknowledges it for its great architecture and incredible interior for the April 2018 Batch. Victoria has hosted many events and international conferences, including The Amazing Race Season 9, Victoria Expo and a potential candidate for the Olympics.

The original settlement, particularly named New Victorian City, grew in the flat savannah lands of the Epsilon where a small set of shops on a promenade and a dock was built in February 2017. From there, more buildings were built and a small metro was built in result to expand to the east. The current dock was eventually built larger to support cargo ships and cruise ships. As of 2019, Port Elizabeth Victoria is the twentieth largest dock on the MRT Server and the second most diverse port in Epsilon only being smaller than the Sunshine Coast Port of Entry. While tourism remains to be a large industry, Victoria is known for its exports of oil and wood.

Etymology

The city takes its name from Queen Victoria, who was the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Briain and Ireland from June 20th, 1837 until her death on January 22, 1901. MC_Protocol, the current founder and mayor of the town named after her due to her influence during the 19th Century The first name "Victoria" itself origins from the Latin word for 'victory' or 'conquer' and is used as the feminine form corresponding to the name Victor. In Roman mythology, Victoria was the name of the goddess of victory, directly corresponding to the Greek goddess Nike.

History

Pre-Epsilon

During the control of Victorian City (Founder MC_Protocol former town), the expansion period during 2016 on gaining new towns to expand Victorian City as a city-state had taken a huge toll on the health on Protocol. This had caused him to give up slightly on his southern expansion and would end up selling out his town to his neighbor city, Covina. This would shock many members of the server and Protocol would end up moving westward to the Plain - Taiga area to build where the now present town of Rochshire would be located. A few months later at the end of 2016, Epsilon was open and would be explored by Protocol and the Savannah area that would be settled on would later become the area where the City was constructed

Post Epsilon

The Aftermath of Fort Preston from the Southern Epsilon War

Following the Compromise of Victoria Act, the expansion of Victoria would be reduced due to potential towns possibly being built in the area as well as a short break to resume work on school. Because of this, the town would only reach a size of 20 builds and be considered a Mayor-class city. Following the return of Protocol, Victoria declared war on Pearl Coast, Fort Yaxier and their Allies. This resulted in the destruction of Fort Preston and Fort Winterpoint which were controlled by Pearl Coast. This also causes a small skirmish between units of the California Highway Patrol against the Metro Security Force. After the Southern Epsilon War, the fort was converted to a national park and remains to be the same as of 2019. During this grace period, the Preston Revival Project was initialized and the complete reconstruction of the City of Preston had begun.

The dominance of the economy by big business was accompanied by an often militant labor movement. The first major sympathy strike was in 2017 when railway employees struck against the VTA for union recognition. Labour leader Hank Hill was killed by Victoria Metropolitan Police while stealing propane at the docks, becoming the movement's first martyr in Victoria. The rise of industrial tensions throughout the province led to New Edwards first general strike in 2018 at the Clairmont coal mines on Clairmont.

Geography

Satellite Image of Victoria

Located on the Vancouver Peninsula, Victoria lies between the Elizabeth Bay to the east and Equinox Ocean to the north and west. The City is 5450 blocks long including flat and hilly ground and is located in the Equinox Time Zone (similar to PTZ (UTC-8) ). Victoria has one of the largest urban parks in Epsilon, Victory Park. Victory Park is a currently occupied area south of the City of Preston, where the area of Edwardsburg is located. It has many diverse forms of species.

Ecology

Other than the mountains in and around the city, the topography of Victoria is generally flat, allowing the city's main streets to run on a precise grid with wide, open-spaced roadways. Scattered, low mountain ranges surround the Savannah: Lesteren to the northeast, the Fendelis to the west and the Whitesburg Mountains far to the east. On the outskirts of Victoria are large fields of irrigated cropland and Native American reservation lands. The Edwardian River runs westward through the city of Victoria, but the riverbed is often containing little water due to large irrigation diversions. Like much of the desert and savannah Biomes, the majority of Victoria's current area was originally occupied on the west by coastal sage scrub and on the east by chaparral, plant communities made up mostly of drought-resistant shrubs. The steep and varied topography and proximity to the ocean create a number of different habitats within the city limits, including tidal marsh and canyons. The chaparral and coastal sage scrub habitats in low elevations along the coast are prone to wildfire, and the rates of fire increased in the 2017 and onwards. This is due primarily to fires starting near the borders of urban and wild areas.

Climate

The climate in the City of Victoria, like most in the Equinox Ocean, often varies significantly over short geographical distances resulting in microclimates. In Victoria, this is mostly because of the city's topography (the Bay, and the numerous hills, mountains, and canyons). Frequently, particularly during the "May gray/June gloom" period, a thick "marine layer" cloud cover keeps the air cool and damp within a few miles of the coast, but yields to bright cloudless sunshine approximately 5–10 miles (8.0–16.1 km) inland. Sometimes the June gloom lasts into August, causing cloudy skies over most of City of Victoria for the entire day. Even in the absence of June gloom, inland areas experience much more significant temperature variations than coastal areas, where the ocean serves as a moderating influence. Thus, for example, downtown Port City of Victoria averages January lows of 50 °F (10 °C) and August highs of 78 °F (26 °C). The City of Preston, just 10 miles (16 km) inland from Victoria, averages January lows of 42 °F (6 °C) and August highs of 88 °F (31 °C).

Cityscape

Urban planning

Coastal Point (Mainland Victoria) Skyline from Defrosted Beach

The city in 2019 is one of the densest sprawls in Victoria (Country). Many MRT urban planners characterize it by its mixed-use development in its Coastal Point Community and uniquely designed realism buildings in its Preston and Clairmont communities. Many of its developments are influenced by policy direction by the Sebastian Commission. Victoria's characteristic approach to urban planning originated in late 2017 when city planners began to encourage the building of high-end commercial spaces in Victoria's Ashmore Communities, subject to strict requirements for setbacks and open space to protect sight lines and preserve green space. The success of these dense but livable neighborhoods led to the redevelopment of urban industrial sites, such as Edwardsburg and Clairmont Harbor.

The scale of many projects is relatively small, as a result of the relatively small size of downtown-Victoria blocks (200 feet by 200 feet) and strict height restrictions enacted to protect views of nearby Downtown Victoria. Although these restrictions limit to project size, they contribute to Victoria's reputation for thoughtful urban planning and livability.

Examples such as the "Preston Revival Project" are considered the city's best urban planning work. This project designed Preston in a more classic Southern California housing development. The project is still currently underway although particular areas of housing, commercial, schools and such are open to the public.

Architecture

Coastal Contemporary Art Gallery, designed in Victorian City style by architect MC_Protocol

Victoria is present in a clean and very refreshing state, providing members with the capability to design their franchises and houses in a very orderly fashion. There has been broad criticism over the past few decades of the city's architecture as citizens have complained that the city is lacking in repetitive aesthetically pleasing architectural styles. Blame for this lack of architectural "beauty" can be assigned to the re-development of the downtown area from the 1950s onward, in which whole blocks of historic commercial and residential structures were demolished.

The Herman Cort Zoning Resolution in 2018 required setbacks in new buildings and restricted towers to a percentage of the lot size, to allow sunlight to reach the streets below. A highly influential example of the international style in the Victoria is the Mojang Union Building (2019), distinctive for its façade using visible bronze-toned I-beams to evoke the building's structure.

Suburban House in Victoria, based off the 90s suburban mixed with Southern California style.

Victoria has many examples of houses with fine architecture. Late 19th century and early 20th century styles exist in neighborhoods. Styles would include Victorian City style, America Craftsman, 90s suburbanism, Queen Anne, and contemporary modern. These unique building styles present members and guest with a city that has put in work, time and effort into everything building. A collection of Edwardian buildings in Coastal Point were, in their day, the tallest buildings in the Victoria.

Demographic

Demographics in Victoria has a minority-majority population. Since the 2016 founding of the town, immigration has drastically increased, making the city more ethnically and linguistically diverse; 53% do not speak English as their first language. This arrival of Asian immigrants continued a tradition of immigration in the city since the arrival of Protocol. Other significant Asian ethnic groups in Victoria include South and West Asians (7.4%), Filipinos (5.9%), Japanese (1.7%), Koreans (1.5%), and sizeable communities of "Deadbushians". Despite increases in immigration to Victoria in the 2017 and 2018, recent immigration has been comparatively low, and Quiris immigration has been similarly stagnant (3.6% and 3.3% of the total immigrant population, respectively). The black population of Victoria is rather scant in comparison to other cities in New Edwards, making up 0.9% of the city. The median age was 34.1 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.6 males.

Government

See Also:Mayor of Victoria

The city is governed by a mayor and a four-district mayor-city council. In 2017, the government approved the council in hope to help better connect communities in the local area. The mayor is in effect the chief executive officer of the city, while the council is the general legislative body. The City of Victoria is generally responsible for police, streets, water and sewer service, planning and other similar services within its borders.

The individual members of the city council within Victoria are elected from the people within their district. The city council and the city's mayor are elected to a 6-month term, with a two-term limit. All election is held on a non-partisan basis per Edward state law; nevertheless, the majority of main officeholders do identity as either Democrat or Republicans. This, however, changed when the current mayor, MC_Protocol, was noted as being part of the Random Party.

In the New Edwards State Senate, Victoria County is encompassed by the 10th district represented by Victoria (RP) Citybuilder.

Districts

Victoria's districts operate in a similar government style to Fairfax, with a Governor overseeing the entire city-state and several District Mayors overseeing specific districts. Since it's based on Fairfax's standard city government model, District Mayors have the same powers as the Deputy Mayor. District Mayors are switched around every 2 months or such. The position is generally given in an election to responsible players who have some sort of time to have control of a part of the city.

Tourism

One of the many regional parks in Victoria, the area provides a unique aspect in terms of usage and design choice. The park was open in early 2019 to the public.

Tourism serves as an economic engine for Victoria. The county has numerous dining, shopping, and cinema experiences. As with many New Edwards cities, Victoria features many parks. Some of the city's notable attractions included the Sierra Valley Walker Park, Clairmont Marina, Orange Ave Town Center, and the MRT Southern Olympic Training Center. The Nature Center located east of the City of Preston is home to interactive exhibits describing geologic and historic aspects of the Elizabeth Bay. The Center has exhibits on sharks, rays, waterbirds, birds of prey, insects, and flora.

The marina at Clairmont including multiple marinas and areas to explore. Sports fishing and whale watching charters operate the regional bay area. The MRT Olympic Training Center assists current and future Olympic athletes in archery, rowing, kayaking, soccer (association football), softball, field hockey, tennis, track and field, and cycling.

Infrastructure

Utilities

The City's Water Supply is supplied to residents by the Water Department of the Port City of Victoria. The water itself is usually received via from the Edwardian River a mile away from Coastal Point District.

Gas and electric utilities are provided by Victoria Gas & Electric, a division of Salt Energy.

Lights

In the mid-20th century, the city had mercury vapor street lamps. In 1978, the city decided to replace them with more efficient sodium vapor lamps. This triggered an outcry from astronomers at New Palomar Observatory 5 miles, north of the city, concerned that the new lamps would increase light pollution and hinder astronomical observation. The city altered its lighting regulations to limit light pollution within 19 miles of Palomar.

Ender Glass Lighting used Commonly in Victoria

In 2017, the city announced plans to upgrade 80% of its street lighting to new energy-efficient lights (Ender Glass) that use induction technology, a modified form of fluorescent lamp producing a broader spectrum than Iron-vapor lamps. The new system is predicted to save $2.2 million per year in energy and maintenance. The city stated the changes would "make our neighborhoods safer". They also increase light pollution and Defrosted Gas.

Transportation

Transit systems

The Victoria Transportation Authority (branded as Metro) is a public agency that is responsible for the operation of public transportation in the City of Victoria metropolitan area. It was formed from nothing and didn't really having anything before that. It is listed by the Victoria State Law as a regional transportation agency. Metro directly operates services for light rail and buses in the County. It also provides direct funding for transit-oriented projects, such as "A" Class Highways and "B" Class Highways within the region of Victoria.

Metro facilitates the commuter rail system ( known as MetroConnect ) that connects individuals to unique spots in the city as well as connects to other major cities in the Epsilon area.
