The Republic of Northern Peninsula (more commonly referred to as Northern Peninsula) is a nation on the Northern Peninsula bordering the Northern Ocean to the north and various mountain ranges including the North-Eastern Mountains.

The capital city is a newly built planned city, Peninsular Capital Territory. Other towns and cities in Northern Peninsula include Heaven City, Subton-on-Sea and the largest in the republic, Titsensaki. The Republic of Ashton is wrapped around by Northern Peninsula, sitting on the Titsensaki Sound. The Colony of Westbeach lies on the Bay of Curracha being mostly touched by Northern Peninsula land to the east and south, and a small exclave of Northern Peninsula to the north. Westbeach is set to join the Municipality of Titsensaki in 2022, therefore joining the Republic of Northern Peninsula.

As of December 2020, the population of Northern Peninsula is around 5,752,312 consisting of 80% Peninsular, 10% Ottian, 5% Nymphic, and 5% other nationalities including Lacledian, Caledonian, or native Chipewyan, as well as foreigners.

The Republic of Northern Peninsula is not to be confused with the Northern Peninsula, which is a geographical area.

History

Creation of Northern Peninsula

In 1776, people who opposed The Froge Kingdom, which in 1775 took over Titsensaki, ran away from the city to the western coast of the peninsula, where they created a new town called Heaven City. The town expanded along the coast and founded The Republic of Northern Peninsula. The Froge Kingdom opposed this new creation and tensions between them raised. New towns such as Subton-on-Sea and Xiiona joined the Froge Kingdom and Beachville (which would later become a suburb of Titsensaki) joined the republic along with Heaven City.

Tensions with The Froge Kingdom and Titsensaki

As elections have already started in Northern Peninsula, The Froge Kingdom knew they needed a way to fight back from what they called the 'rebellious group of the owner of the land'. King Froge IV started to plot against the republic, but plans have failed as nations around Northern Peninsula backed them off and made the Froge Kingdom army retreat back the capital Crossfern further inland.

In 1845, Frogian Refugees spring to Heaven City and Northern Peninsula due to the rise of King Froge VII, who was overwriting the current constitution of the kingdom to his own needs, which enraged the lower class. The lower class made up 85% of the kingdom's annual revenue, and due to economical reasons, The Froge Kingdom fell in 1850 and was split in two with Crossfern joining The Republic of Hallarbor and Titsensaki becoming an independent city-state.

King Froge VII stayed in power of the wealthier northern section of Titsensaki, and the south was mostly ruled by local parties. The Imperialists from nearby islands noticed the weakness of the south of Titsensaki and realised it could help them with gain recourses and power over the area. They invade and easily take over the south, splitting the city-state in two sections, soon officially breaking to become two countries in 1902 -The Independent Kingdom of Northern Titsensaki and The Imperialist People's City-State of Southern Titsensaki-.

In 1903, both nations join the United Cities to try to ease tensions, but all attempts of that have failed. In 1915 both Titsensakis reunite, however travel is still restricted between the north and south and security checks are needed for government officials. The line between the two sectors are still noticeable today and left for preservation. You can find this on Meridien Road against the OAB Building in Titsensaki City.

The UNET has been created in 1935 to try to gain relations with nearby cities with support for Titsensaki, but ended up creating a union for the nations in the area for laws, customs union, and constitutions. Titsensaki has also been put under administration status in the UNET and then became an administrative region of the UNET, being under the rule of no nation, just the UNET.

After the great war in 1940, tensions have been at an all time high for Titsensaki and Heaven City and in 1950, The Wall of Titsensaki is built to stop anyone from going between the cities.

1931 Civil War

Northern Peninsula in the Great War

The social communist government of Northern Peninsula joined The 2nd Great MRT War, mainly to give the illusion of power to the people and surrounding countries. Nearby cities and nations didn't like what they were seeing and neither did the citizens of Northern Peninsula. 10 years later, the government of Titsensaki built The Wall of Titsensaki to block trade to Northern Peninsula.

During the early 40s, Northern Peninsula experienced heavy blows to the economy and army, after losing almost half of their men. Also, the GDP per capita went down by 30% (adjusted for inflation).

Sanctions were put on Northern Peninsula by The People's Republic of Montego and The Republic of Epsilon which only made their economy worse. This has been the worst period for Northern Peninsula since the civil war in 1931.

Dictatorship era

In 1915, a group of ultra-nationalists formed the Peninsular Societal Front, also known as the Communist Party of Northern Peninsula (CPNP). The next year, they formed a militia by riling up crowds of supporters. They started a coup on the government known commonly as the Peninsula Revolution, forcing the government to abandon the nation. By 1917, the PSF had full control over the nation. They held elections every six years in which anyone over the age of 26 could vote, however all candidates must have been members of the Communist Party. At first, industrial production rates went up, however many other industries began to decline. As natural resources, especially copper and steel, started to deplete, Northern Peninsula's economy was hit. A crowd of over 5,000 people took to the streets to protest against the PSF, however they were met with violence. 43 people were killed on February 19th, 1937, marking that day in history as the Slough Massacre. With their power slowly slipping away, the PSF decided to fight in the 2nd Great MRT War to try and assert their dominance in the region, especially after losing some power during the Civil War. Starting from 1942, no elections were held and it stayed this way until the dissolving of the dictatorship in 1989. Northern Peninsula came back from the war with only a fraction of its military, meaning the PSF could not be as controlling as they were before. In 1960, the electorate of Subton-Yeel self-declared indepedence, stating the economic decline and authoritarianism as major factors for leaving the nation. By this time, most cities were self-governing, and by 1989, the PSF's power had been weakened so much that they were forced to flee the nation after Ironhill Defence Forces surrounded the Assembly. In 1994, all the remaining PSF members were found and were sentenced to life in prison. The leader was sentenced to capital punishment. The first democratic election since 1915 was held in 1990, marking the end of the dictatorship.

Northern Peninsula holds whole peninsula

In the year 2000, The Titsensakian Administrative Region of the UNET officially joined The Republic of Northern Peninsula and became the temporary capital as the under construction capital was still in mostly planning stages. As a result of this, RoNP owned the whole peninsula except a small exclave in the middle, and city-state nations along the south western coasts of Ashton and Westbeach.

This change has been initiated by city mayor Frog Ribbit and deputy mayor Sans Luigi after a referendum of 96% in and 4% stay. The current president Jordan Hykes agreed with this plan during the 2001 talks and officially signed off for the annexation of Titsensaki under the will of the annexee.

Cold war with Sand

In early 2021, Northern Peninsula was funding the Sand Secret Salvation Militia (SSSM) agency to form a raid of Sand's city hall in an attempt to put Crimsonism on a halt. Many accused Northern Peninsula of breaking their no-war trust, however the government replied by saying the attack was on the government house only and seized the opposition's weapons to stop any further battle.

The SSSM regularly does checks of Sand and the surrounding areas and continues to support anti-Crimsonist agendas around the globe and in the city. The creator of the SSSM, Fiork Knifestone, who was the runner-up in the 2021 Presidential Elections stated that he still intends to keep relations with the SGP, and a collaborative project like this which would benefit the entire nation was important.

Westbeach reunification

As per treaty, originally signed on October 27th, 1992, between then the UNET Administrated Territory of Titsensaki and Republic of Norwest owned Aylesbury, the reunification of Aylesbury back into Titsensaki would commence exactly 30 years later, on October 27th, 2022.

Over time, the treaty was gradually edited, including the re-definition of the treaty, as Titsensaki and other territories joined Northern Peninsula in 2000, and Aylesbury renamed to Westbeach in 1999. On October 28th, 2022, Westbeach was officially handed to Northern Peninsula, and a new special electorate, known as the Westbeach SAR, was created. The treaty was followed through a day late due to the unavailability of the governor of Westbeach, Harbor Random, as he was stranded in Itavanga for diplomatic reasons due to heavy weather restricting all air travel on the 27th.

Demographics

People groups

   Peninsular (80%)
   Ottian (7%)
   Nymphian (4%)
   Norwestian (4%)
   Other (5%)

The demographics of Northern Peninsula are mainly people who are Peninsular, mainly with Nymphic, Xiionian, Chipewyan, or Froge descent. Many Peninsular citizens who are immigrants or migrants usually come from New Bakersville or Curracha, which are both nearby cities. Many Ottian people move to Northern Peninsula due to the cheaper rent and more jobs, and close ties with The Ottia Islands allow for good trade of goods and services. Many native or citizens from Nymphalia, the capital of The Nymphic Union, move to Northern Peninsula for business reasons. The rest of the people are foreigners, mainly from Ravenna in The Lacledic Republic, Pasadena, and Norwest.

Rural demographics

While only around 2% of the population of Northern Peninsula live in rural areas (mostly in Peninsula Forest Territory), their demographics are a lot different. Some of the immigrants from New Bakersville go to these rural areas for farming and other agricultural jobs. Out of the around 60,000 people in these areas, 15% are from New Bakersville alone. The other 84% is almost all Peninsular, and 1% have Froge-Nymphic, or Ottian descent.

Safety

Ranked 23rd on the MRT, Northern Peninsula is considered a safe country. On average, Morang is the most dangerous city in the country, however it only ranks 13th most dangerous when counting suburbs of the major cities. The most dangerous area in Northern Peninsula in terms of both violent crime and theft is Slough, Heaven City, however Kettlesview, in northern Titsensaki is not far behind.

Peninsula Capital, Heaven City proper, and Titsensaki downtown are all the safest areas in terms of violent crime, whereas you are least likely to experience theft cases in Rose Bush Hill (Titsensaki) and Craftsville, according to the NPSA census of 2022.

Government and politics

Type of government

The Republic of Northern Peninsula is run as a democratic republic. The people vote for representatives to make decisions decided by themselves and the locally elected parliament. The National Assembly has 37 seats, and its government is currently the Social Green Party.

Every January and June, there are presidential and vice presidential elections. Each president or vice president can serve a maximum of 2 terms.

When the president and their team makes a decision, it is brought down to parliament for the elected politicians to make a vote. Each territory and electorate have a designated amount of seats in parliament (electorals).

Northern Peninsula also has a Municipal House. Every city, town, and village have one or more sections, based on planning areas and group divisions. They each elect a mayor (called sub-mayors in towns with more than one section (Titsensaki, Heaven City, and Gartner Vale)) that represent the municipality in the lower house, where they vote on planning, zoning, and development. There are 31 municipal seats.

Northern Peninsula generally has windy summers and cold winters. Summers range from 15C to 30C and winters from 0C to 10C. The coldest months are December and January, getting an average of -2C. The hottest months are June and July at around 22C on average.

In August, there is a big drop in temperature as fall starts to come in, and temperatures drop by around 7C on average. It does not rain much in the winter, but westerly winds often cause sea water to freeze and fall all over Northern Peninsula. Most of the frozen water gets blown over New Landing and Forest Territory as the hills block it from reaching the west coast of the country. This explains why there is only snow on tall hills on the west coast during the winter. The summer months have much more rain, at an average of 8 days a month. Rain in the summer comes down harder than other seasons and sometimes creates flash floods.

Humidity on Northern Peninsula is quite high during the summer, due to the condensation of the water all around the peninsula. The Northern Ocean is quite cold so humidity drops a lot during the winter.

Generally the wind in Northern Peninsula is quite strong, which is why it gets so cold in the winter (despite being mostly a Gamma state) as the Northern Ocean Winter Winds hit during this time. Wind during the summer is quite low but more wind comes as fall comes in which explains the temperature drop in August.

Northern Peninsula has 4 seasons: Summer, Fall (Autumn), Winter, and Spring, however the springs in Northern Peninsula look a lot like fall as the leaves sometimes turn red and orange flowers and pumpkins grow. In this region, the Peninsular Pumpkins is a large export during spring and fall.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP)

The economy of Northern Peninsula sits at MRTD$329 billion (UP94 billion, B$940 trillion) and has a GDP of MRTD$57,194.39 per capita. However, many people in the more rural or less urban areas have on average less than MRTD$40,000.

Standard of living

About 6.2% of Northern Peninsula is under the poverty line. According to the statistics, there are around 350,000 people who are unable to pay for basic necessities. Northern Peninsula provides social welfare for these people in most cases.

Infrastructure

Roads

Northern Peninsula has 5 national highways, called the N-01, N-02, N-03, N-04, and N-05. The N-01 and N-05 both run exclusively within Titsensaki. The N-01 goes from Titsensaki's City district to Sealerwhale Airport, while the N-05 goes from South Rincon to the A360 interchange immigration area, south of the airport. The N-01A and N-01B were once called the M1 and M2 respectively. The N-02 goes from Subton-on-Sea to PCT, and also has a branch road to Titsensaki's Ironhill West district. The N-03 is the longest road in the country, going from Slough in New Landing to Port Peninsula via the entire east coast, connecting small towns there. The N-04 goes from Subton-on-Sea to the city of Sayando and runs completely within Subton Electorate. The N-01 and N-05 are both 4 lanes, while the N-03 and N-04 are two lanes. The N-02 is two lanes but is also dual carriageway.

The road standard in Northern Peninsula requires either black or grey concrete/terracotta with a yellow line in the middle to signify the middle. New Landing uses a specific dashed white line to do this as they have historically used this, so only new roads use a yellow line. Some electorates require a white shoulder line on the outsides of the road. Northern Peninsula drives on the right.

Rail

There are various rail companies operating in Northern Peninsula. Locally, the main ones are Network Peninsula, tMetro, and Network Heaven City. Network Peninsula is a state-owned rail operator which main purpose is to connect the entire nation by rail. The tMetro and Network Heaven City are both major metro operators in Northern Peninsula, and as a result are the 2nd and 3rd largest rail companies in the nation. Many intercity rail services also exist from Northern Peninsula. They are IntraRail, BluRail, RaiLinQ, NewRail, Manukau Transport, and additional service is also operate by UNETrail, a UNET owned warp rail service throughout nations and cities in the UNET.

Air

Northern Peninsula currently has multiple airports and elytraports. The three largest airports are all in Titsensaki, but transport to other large cities such as Subton-on-Sea and Heaven City is easy. Heaven City and Port Peninsula both have small elytraports and there is one military elytrabase in East Subton. Almost 80% of air travel into Northern Peninsula is done through Titsensaki Sealerwhale International Airport, in the south of the country.

Culture

Tradition

Since the 18th century, people regardless of religion would go to the beach every January 2nd and bring this special type of clay which they mold and turn into these traditional looking forks called 'fiorks'. With these, they would eat the traditional seafood salad for dinner which includes a special type of fish called '7d fish', and they are found in the waters between Heaven City and Bruh Island.

Native people of Northern Peninsula also have a traditional dance called 'Pog Dance' which consists of dancing around a dead Pog Fishe. This comes from the people on the western coast and slowly made its away around the whole country. It is to pay respect to the land North Peninsula is on and the food they get. They plant a tree around a sacrificed fish to do this.

Brazilian Power

TBD

Religion

About 70% of Northern Peninsula's population identifies as Ruffist, Astolfoist-Ruffist, or Astolfoist. About 90% of the Ruffists are also from Titsensaki, due to the high concentration of Ruffists that were in the Froge Kingdom. Almost 80% of the Astolfoist population reside in Heaven City or west Titsensaki.

forward our nation, our nation, forward our nation,

<repeat 'our nation, our nation' during instrumental>

forward peninsula!

The national anthem of The Republic of Northern Peninsula was adopted in 1992 as the new currency and constitution was adopted after The People's Republic of Northern Peninsula was dissolved. The song, Forward Peninsula was composed by classical artist Vicente Salias in 1912 as a proposal for the new anthem of Northern Peninsula, which was ignored by the government. In 1992, they decided to use that old tune as the new national anthem and lyrics were made and approved by The Orchestra of Heaven City.

From 1901-1992, the old national anthem, North Peninsula 'Tis for Thee was used, and rewritten in 1935 to reflect the new social-communist dictatorship which took over the nation. A referendum by the new government to the people concluded, and the majority wanted the anthem to be changed.
