The Snapshot is a video news series created by chiefbozx on his YouTube channel to give general announcements and updates about the server. In the first series, it was filmed on Fridays or Saturdays, and generally posted Sunday nights. The new Series, hosted by Just_robinho is under the process of once every month after a General Staff Meeting has occurred.

For the opening of the Gamma server, chiefbozx announced that he was planning to film weekly news updates about the server, entitled the MRT Coffee Break. The series did not end up happening and The Snapshot was revived and hosted by Just_robinho instead.

The Revival of The Snapshot

Near the end of November, random broadcasts were being made that stated "15.12.15", referring to December 15, 2015. On that date, it was announced that The Snapshot was making a return.

After a hiatus lasting over two years, a video in relation to The Snapshot was released on chiefbozx's YouTube channel. The eleven minute video entitled "12-15-15" was considered the 44th episode of The Snapshot. During the video and according to the updated wiki page, the new CEOs were Just_robinho and kekkomatic. The Snapshot was put under the parent company of "The Italian Birds", the name of Just_robinho and kekkomatic's Amazing Race team name. According to Just_robinho and kekkomatic, the Amazing Race money they had won was used to produce episode 44.

Just_robinho replaced chiefbozx as host. The Snapshot's main segment is set to feature: general server maintenance, server updates, station renames, staff vacations or breaks, channel announcements, and newsworthy topics. The Spotlight, which replaced the Featured Station segment, was made longer and hosted by kekkomatic. Episode release was changed from weekly to monthly, usually staying in line with the GSM.

The new version of The Snapshot has yet to be seen as momentous or a large event as it has only been released for a short amount of time. As time progresses, some people expect it to be a spectacle for the server.

Segments

Featured Station

Beginning with the second episode, one station is featured per episode for roughly 60 seconds. Notable highlights are mentioned, and the presence of interesting buildings or franchises is announced. This segment was retired for w50.

Spotlight

Beginning with episode code w50, the Featured Station segment was replaced by the Spotlight segment. The content between the Featured Station segment and Spotlight is roughly the same, however under the new name any notable creation may be shown off in the Spotlight, whether it's a town, station, building, transit line, or attraction - it can be Spotlit in any episode.

In the new series the spotlight brings back features from 'Featured Station' and mixes them up. The spotlight is longer and is hosted by kekkomatic

Major Announcements

The bulk of the news is major announcements by the staff. These include

  • upcoming events
  • rule changes
  • new things
  • staff promotions
  • anything from recent GSMs or ASMs (General Staff Meetings or Administrative Staff Meetings)
  • station remodels
  • service outages like Mumble, the wiki, website, or either server

Anyone can send a major news bulletin or announcement in, however, to Chief, JR or Kekko - put "Snapshot" in the subject line.

Misc Tidbits

Where smaller announcements are given, such as:

  • general maintenance such as plugin updates
  • server updates
