Hi, I'm Farkie1, you'll probably know me as Farkie (or alli if you were active before 2016).
I joined the MRT in November 2013, when I was quite literally a child. (Yes, I've been on this server half of my lifetime). I spent my first months on the server as a [Guest] exploring the Old World. I failed my first attempt at the Member Application in January 2014.
I got [Member] on 19 February 2014 and helped my friend Starcubed with his city of Chokster along with tarheelscouse, we worked together as a team to build the city. However, out of us three I was the only one who didn't have a city of my own, so I fell back on the ranks. I then got lots of warnings for griefing (supposedly, I don't wanna argue about it it's in the past and I was very young at the time, most probably one of the youngest on the server) and never ranked up on the Old World.
During the final days of the Old World, I participated in what lay the foundations for the SMP system which could be found when Gamma launched. I helped construct my town within a municipality around the city of Arcadia (Old World version).
Gamma came and my warning level was still at 2 after getting a double warning. I rushed to start a town of my own at C46 Foobar and named it South Oaksville. I then had another run in to do with griefing, I was bound for a perm ban. I was super lucky that day as I escaped a perm ban by clearing up what I had done. After a bit the warnings cleared and I got [Citizen] after 9 months. Then my luck continued into 2015 and I got [Trustee] in March. Then things went downhill again, South Oaksville was not progressing as I had expected it to and I sold it and rushed up to EN1 Ellesume Central to start another town named Ellesume and build my dream of a huge rail network.
However, I got too ahead of myself and I was desperate to rank up. I remember trying to get [Councillor] and failing and rage quitting for the next few months. Then in September 2015 I rejoined and got [Councillor]. In October 2015 I then got [Mayor], I was so excited to get to [Senator] but lacked the concentration and patience to get there. I was trying too hard and dreaming too big. I started raging a ton more when I kept failing. I sold Ellesume, though looking back I could have got that city to [Senator] if I had put my mind to it, and started a new city named Aquilia, when Epsilon arrived, which was not based on ranking up, but looking good. Over time I'd also started another slow ranking town named Mortonborough midway through this huge paragraph. I worked on Aquilia for about a month (about one building) trying to build some more stylish skyscrapers. I then ditched Aquilia and bought Geneva Bay from EliteNeon.
I quickly ranked Geneva Bay up to [Councillor] and then [Mayor] about 6 months after (quite quick for me now). During 2017, I began to come on the server less and less. I didn't have the time to build and school pressure was mounting. Eventually, I became very inactive only popping on once every few months.
Wind wayyyy forwards to May 2019. I don't really know what sparked in me to make me return, but when I finally became semi-active once again, things were very different what they had been 2 years prior, there was many new members who I'd never met before and many familiar faces who had left the server for good. I tried starting to build a new city called Hallebourg, which I quickly lost care in to be honest. COVID hit in March 2020, giving me time to get busy in reviving Geneva Bay and filling in the gaps to push the town to the [Senator] rank. This was proving hard as there was becoming an apparent lack of space around Geneva Bay and expansion room had become very limited. Finally, after forever I achieved that goddamn [Senator] rank for Geneva Bay. Following a lot of the events of the end of 2020, *poof* I was gone again.
IRL events came and went, I became an adult, finished college, got a job blah blah blah all the boring stuff. But hey, nostalgia is one powerful force and I was dragged back to the server in August 2023. I had a sudden wave of motivation and I'm pretty sure I spent it all building up one of the most insane expansion plans that in my head seemed impossible for such a long time. Somehow, with all of my 6 and a half brain cells, I managed to figure out a way to solve Geneva Bay's space problem. I must have been online every free moment during that month or so, and eventually, Geneva Bay was Governor worthy! And then, as I usually do *poof* life took me on an insane journey again. I'm currently living in Florida, doing my commercial pilot training. As of writing, I've achieved my PPL and I'm now working on my Instrument Rating!
