Berkeley, formerly known as Watford and Aquinelle, is a large town along the B33. It is a founding member and capital of the Greater East Plains MPO. It is also in Alliance Cities. Cars are banned permanently.

History

Background History (2020)

A previous town was originally founded in June 2020 by Farkie1, called Aquinelle at this time. However, Farkie didn't work on it on much and transferred it to pretzel33 in September 4, 2020. Pretzel transferred the town in September 9, 2020 to Tietoinen, who got accepted for Member the day before. However, Tietoinen wasn't seen even once after it was transferred, and pretzel33 had to wait until Tietoinen went inactive in order to obtain the town back via Deputy Mayor Succession, which she did so in December 7, 2020. Although Farkie previously founded Aquinelle, it was transitmatt who founded Watford.

Unranked (2020)

After transitmatt was given this town by pretzel33 in December 21, 2020, he revamped the city, including making the infamous 1 block tall sidewalks. Around this time, several buildings were built, however older buildings had to be marked with signs denoting that they were built previously. Only 2 buildings that were previously built exist now, which are the Lake Piru reception building and the Berkeley Bus Station Cafe, respectively. In this period, this town was renamed to Watford.

Councillor (2021-2022)

On April 26, 2021, Watford was promoted to the Councillor rank. After obtaining Councillor (and some hiatuses), Watford was ready to expand again. First came the removal of older buildings, in order to clear up confusion. During this time, Berkeley Bus Station was also expanded to accommodate more buses. After this came P58 station. This added more transit to Watford. Needn_NL was let go of his deputy mayor rank to let hvt2011 become the new DM, after strengthening ties with him. Shortly after, Watford banned cars for a couple days, however this decision was made permanent and cars are still banned to this day, unless they have a permit. Due to this, the public transport system had to be improved. Buses were built by the government, however they were unreliable and were replaced by ones from AutoDesignZ. More buildings were built, thus popping Watford up to the most common rank: Mayor.

Mayor (current day)

Immediately after attaining Mayor, P58 was renamed to Watford Station. The Berkeley Streetcar system debuted, with the J line going along Ansil Pedestrian Street. On October 29th, trolleybus service debuted in Watford replacing the 1 Orinda motorcoach, however the trolleybus only used the wires for 1 stop. The line will be continued along Orinda Street by 2023. On November 28th, 2022, transitmatt renamed the town to Berkeley, replacing every instance of Watford with Berkeley, except for Nuuk-Watford Regional Airport, which is yet to be renamed. The town is still deciding on whether or not to attain Senator.
