XVI TacoBurritoAThon was the sixteenth iteration of TacoBurritoAThon. It was held on June 6th, 2020.
Bidding
Bidding closed for XVI TacoBurritoAThon on April 25, 2020. Of the eight applicant cities, five advanced to the candidacy stage: Anthro Island, Kanto, Scarborough, Seoland, and Waterville. Kanto was then selected as the host of XVI TacoBurritoAThon on May 20, 2020.

Sponsorships
XVI TacoBurritoAThon needs sponsors. Your sponsorships pay for both the compensation of the host and (most importantly) the prize money for the players. Sponsorships tentatively will be supplementary to an event grant that will be under consideration at the May 2020 ISM. 60% of sponsorship money will be paid into the prize pool while 40% will be paid to the host as compensation. Levels are the same as usual:
- Iron - Costs $10, mentioned as an official sponsor
- Gold - Costs $40, perks of Iron AND get an advertisement read out over the PA system.
- Diamond - Costs $75, perks of Gold AND get naming rights to one of the five events.
You can concurrently sponsor for all three TacoBurritoAThons being held this summer. Firms that sponsor all three will be given a 10% discount.

XVI TacoBurritoAThon will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 1900 UTC. This is also:

Summary
XVI TacoBurritoAThon began at approximately 19:02 UTC in Kanto Stadium with the Opening Ceremony. The Opening Ceremony took place following the Roll Call/Finalization of Teams and featured opening statements by Skelezomperman, the Commissioner of TacoBurritoAThon, and camelfantasy, the Mayor of Kanto. Afterwards, the actual competition began.
The first event in the TacoBurritoAThon was Sumotori at the Kanto Aquatics Center, which took place on a temporary sumotori floor which was erected over the diving pool. The sumotori as normal was held as a single-elimination tournament to determine each team's representative to the final match. Within Team Taco, the qualifier round featured meow10811 against Red_Ray and Conric005 against Fotiaoqiang. Red_Ray defeated Meow 3-2 in a knockout in what would be the only non-sweep of the qualifier round, while Conric defeated Fotiaoqiang 3-0. Within Team Bacon, the qualifier round featured FredTheTimeLord against lil_shadow59 and fork_07 against notshort925; Fred defeated lilshadow 3-0 while Fork defeated Notshort 3-0. Afterwards, the team finals matches occurred. In the Team Taco finals, Conric005 defeated Red_Ray 3-0, while FredTheTimeLord defeated fork_07 3-0. Afterwards, the Sumotori Finals occurred in which Conric005 represented Team Taco and FredTheTimeLord represented Team Bacon. Conric won the hard-fought match 4-2, thus winning the Sumotori for Team Taco. Team Taco took a 1-0 lead in events at that point.
The second event was Swimming. This was the first time in TacoBurritoAThon history in which the Swimming was held in a new "relay" format; in this format, instead of each competitor competing individually, teams would have to participate in a relay. Each member of a team would have to sequentially swim one lap; the team which has their members complete their laps the fastest would win. The order that Team Taco's members swam in was Conric005, meow10811, Red_Ray, and Fotiaoqiang; for Team Bacon, the order was lil_shadow59, notshort925, FredTheTimeLord, and fork_07. As early as the first lap Team Taco had a substantial lead which would not be caught up to in time; thus, Team Taco won the swimming and took a 2-0 lead in events.
Third in the TacoBurritoAThon was Spleef at the Kanto Aquatics Center, where the diving pool was modified for spleef. Because of the unusually large size of the teams, one player from each team was asked to volunteer to not participate in the spleef; Red_Ray sat out for Team Taco while notshort925 sat out for Team Bacon. Thus, the Spleef was played in a 3v3 best-of-3 format. The spleef started poorly for Team Bacon when Fork was accidentally spleefed in by Fred; Fred was soon eliminated himself. Lilshadow was able to spleef Conric and Fotiaoqiang out before losing out to Meow, thus putting Team Taco up 1-0. Team Bacon was then on the brink, down 1-0 in the Spleef and being one loss away from losing the TacoBurritoAThon; at this point, their impressive comeback began. In the second round, Conric and Fred both fell through simultaneously, which thereafter was followed by Lilshadow getting Meow and Fotiao out to tie up the Spleef at 1-1. Afterwards was the match point for Spleef. First out was Conric, who was followed quickly by Meow and Fred. Fotiao then got Fiork out, which would have set up a 1v1 between him and Lilshadow before he accidentally fell in his own hole. Thus, Team Bacon won the spleef 2-1 and cut Team Taco's events lead to 2-1.
Next was the Marathon, which was a race around Kanto's streets. The Marathon lasted about five minutes and was done in a route that resembled a U, taking the competitors past most of the venues and ending at Kanto Stadium. The winner of the Marathon was Fred, who led the race most of the way; Team Bacon tied up the events at 2-2.
Finally was the American Football, which was the deciding event for XVI TacoBurritoAThon. It was played at Kanto Stadium. For Team Taco, Conric was the quarterback and Red_Ray was the receiver, while for Team Bacon lilshadow was the quarterback and Notshort was the receiver. Team Taco won the coin toss and chose to be the first team to play in each round, with Team Bacon playing second. In the first round each team missed, while the next four rounds all had both teams scoring. Thus, the american football went to sudden death tied up 4-4. Shockingly, Team Taco missed in the sixth round; Team Bacon then scored to win the american football 5-4 and clinch XVI TacoBurritoAThon with a 3-2 score in events.
To finish off the TacoBurritoAThon was the Closing Ceremony, again at Kanto Stadium. Commissioner Skelezomperman and Mayor camelfantasy thanked all of the people who participated, attended, and broadcasted the TacoBurritoAThon. Team Bacon was also given time for remarks on their victory, with Lilshadow speaking on behalf of Team Bacon. At that point XVI TacoBurritoAThon concluded, with everyone being invited to attend the XVII TacoBurritoAThon in Scarborough and XVIII TacoBurritoAThon in Waterville.
