Welcome to the MRT Stock wiki talk page. Here, you can request for your rail line, franchise, corporation, or Airline to be added to the MRT Stock page, and its stock will then rise, fall, and change as it changes. We are also hosting discussions on how this could be implemented into the economy plugin.

Requests for flotation on the MRT Stock Exchange

If you would like to float on the MRT Stock Exchange and be recognised as a company, you will first have to meet some basic competency requirements. These are:

  • You must be the owner of the company you plan to register. This one is pretty self explanatory.
  • You must have a fully functional wikipage on which the company is described and which states the owner. This has to list basic information about the company and state its owner.
  • You must list the full amount of lines/franchises/flights/shops your company owns on the wikipage, as well as in this talk form.
  • And finally, you must agree never to cheat on your stock or insider trade :). This will result in your company's stock a)falling, b) being removed immediately, and c) possibly a wiki ban (this may not happen).
  • Your page has to be correctly Categorized.

Once you have agreed to these terms, please add your company to the existing request table below as necessary, making sure to link the name to your WikiPage. Your request will be dealt with by Cortesi as soon as possible.

  • Dear Cortesi,

My transit company, IMTS, has 2 rail lines, and 3 Fuji City Metro rail lines. Currently the page only shows that I have 1 line Gogojakeo (talk) 06:14, 21 April 2014 (EDT)

 Dear Gogo,
your transit line has got only 1 active rail line. all the others are or under construction or planned. I cannot add them until at least 2 sations are active, bye. --Cortesi (talk) 11:03, 21 April 2014 (EDT)

MRT Holdings has 4 more divisions that PI owned, do those count for stock? nopro988 (talk) 11:30, 21 April 2014 (EDT)

Yes they do. but update your wiki page with them

Hey Cortesi, BenkGo! has 19 branches, not 15. Sorry to complain, but please updat this. Thanks Tarheelscouse (talk) 11:40, 21 April 2014 (EDT)

 Yup srry. will change that.

Hello Cortesi/Bestmate, A few edits for me: RedlinConnect (3 lines) have been added as part of wheelie transit, and Goldenrod Hotels is also part of Tiretrack Inc. Please make changes when you can. Thank you. Tdtspeedy (talk) 16:37, 22 April 2014 (EDT)

Stock Symbol

Can my symbol get changed to "SKC"? :P Skelezomperman (talk) 16:14, 20 April 2014 (EDT)

You can change it yourselve. You have permission to do it ;) --Cortesi (talk) 16:47, 20 April 2014 (EDT)

Does this apply to other stocks/players as well? I edited some of my companies' indexes but was yelled at for doing so. -Diemundz (talk) 20:57, 23 April 2014 (EDT)

Economy Plugin

Since the announcement of the introduction of an economy plugin to the server, I've been drafting some ideas in my head about a stock exchange plugin that would integrate with the economy/business systems and allow shareholders limited control over a company they hold shares in, as well as support for buying/selling shares in a company through mechanics I have yet to fully iron out. Is this the sort of thing you would be interested in with regards to your "discussions on how this could be implemented into the economy plugin"? --Hunter X (talk) 10:05, 21 April 2014 (EDT)

Err, that was actually me who put that there when I redid the talk page ;-), not Cortesi, so I don't know the 'official' position on it, but that's what I was thinking of in a nutshell. That plugin sounds like a great idea! Arsenal FTW :) - bestmate66 (talk) 11:35, 21 April 2014 (EDT)
Why did I have the same idea when finding this page? ;) If you like, I'd help you with that plugin, logiblocs may help, too, once we have finished MRTPath2. This would allow the plugin to be done faster and therefor get a stock system, which is a great idea by the way ;) Minecrafter0505 (talk) 06:18, 22 April 2014 (EDT)
Are you 3 gonna become like our not-quite-official MRT Plugin Coders or something? :) Great ideas, great cooperation, great community. That's what I like (along with trains) about the MRT! Bensismith (talk) 08:20, 22 April 2014 (EDT)
Problem is I have a nasty habit of trying to take on entire projects by myself :P I'll try and get my ideas into writing shortly, and perhaps we can look into some kind of private Git/Mercurial server if we end up collaborating on this or future projects. --Hunter X (talk) 13:56, 22 April 2014 (EDT)

As above, I (among many others, I'm sure) have had some thoughts about linking MRT Stock to the economy plugin. I was thinking that each company on the stocks list be given a valuation, i.e. if the owner were to liquidate the company, how much would it sell for. The details such as how much each franchise/ station etc was worth could depend on a) location b) technology used etc. and so on. I think then we could sell shares much more effectively, as shares would be sold and bought just as in more realistic models. At the moment, the MRT Stock is less business than a competition, so I think it would be great to give it some monetary meaning. Please get back to me, and note that I'm of course open to criticism :D Tarheelscouse (talk) 14:13, 22 April 2014 (EDT)

Cyan Systems / OpenShop / Corporations

Hey, first of: great page idea, its an interesting aspect to add to the server.

Just informing you of the new Cyan Systems Directory page which I will update to better organise how many stations Cyan Systems is looking after. From what I gathered you are taking the stock number for Franchises from the number of stations they have. You'll now be able to get this number from Cyan Systems a little easier.

I've noticed you've put OpenShop as a Franchise. Technically its a franchise/company that owns franchises. Those franchises owned by OpenShop have multiple stores which are very difficult to keep a track of since anyone can build them. So right now you're classing it as a franchise but using the stock number as the number of franchises it has, which fits the description for the corporation table better.

I would also like to propose a new idea to how the Corporations stock number is calculated. Its very easy to create a new franchise for the smallest thing, call it a subsidiary and boost up your number but perhaps you might want to take into account other factors like: how many buildings the company owns, or how many total franchises the company has beneath it. The current value of Corporation stock seems a little unusual. For example: FyfeCorp is valued at 4, where 1 represents the entire MRT Mail Division. AMR Corp on the other hand is valued at 17 where 1 represents a casino, which isn't actually open. If I wanted to easily ramp up my number I could easily say: FyfeCorp owns MRT Mail P.O. Boxes, MRT Mail Mass Distribution System, MRT Mail Business Services, etc. Just something to think about. Thomasfyfe (talk) 21:24, 23 April 2014 (EDT)
