IntraTrains Series 2
IntraTrains Series 2 is the current generation series of trains produced by the IntraRail Rolling Stock Company, originally built in January 2022, announced on February 13, 2022, and having first entered service on February 14, 2022. It is the primary rolling stock used by IntraRail and MCR.
IntraTrains Series 2 are available for sale to third party railroads. See below for pricing information.
Cars
IntraTrains Series 2 consists of the following train car models:
IntraVolt 2.0
The IntraVolt 2.0 is a hybrid locomotive supporting diesel power as well as electric power via both overhead wires and center third rail. The locomotive is 17 blocks long and 3 blocks wide, with a body height of 4 blocks and a total height (including the pantograph) of 6 blocks, and includes a cab car on each end with train controls. It is the locomotive used to push and pull the IntraTrain Unilevel Series 2 and IntraTrain Bilevel Series 2.
IntraFleet 2.0
The IntraFleet 2.0 is a unilevel passenger car, and the main car type of the IntraTrain Unilevel Series 2. Each car includes four sets of two block wide slide-out doors (two on each side), four sets of low platform stair doors (two on each side), and a five block long signage display on each side to support IntraRail map signage. Cab car variants also include a cab car with train controls at one end. Each standard car is 17 blocks long, and each cab car is 19 blocks long. All cars are 3 blocks wide and 4 blocks tall.
IntraLiner 2.0
The IntraLiner 2.0 is a bilevel passenger car, and the main car type of the IntraTrain Bilevel Series 2. Like the IntraFleet 2.0, each car includes four sets of two block wide slide-out doors (two on each side), four sets of low platform stair doors (two on each side), and a five block long signage display on each side to support IntraRail map signage. Each car also includes a second level, accessible by ladders from the lower level. Cab car variants also include a cab car with train controls at one end. Each standard car is 17 blocks long, and each cab car is 19 blocks long. All cars are 3 blocks wide and 5.5 blocks tall.
IntraShuttle 2.0
The IntraShuttle 2.0 is a self-propelled carriage functioning as both a locomotive and passenger car. Two IntraShuttle 2.0 cars are paired to form the short-length IntraTrain Mini Series 2. Like the IntraVolt 2.0, it supports diesel power as well as electric power via both overhead wires and central third rail. Each car includes two sets of two block wide slide-out doors (one on each side), two sets of low platform stair doors (one on each side), and a five block long signage display on each side to support IntraRail map signage. There is also a cab car with train controls at one end of the car. Each car is 12 blocks long and 3 blocks wide, with a body height of 4 blocks and a total height (including the pantograph) of 6 blocks.
Trainsets
IntraTrains Series 2 car types are generally organized into the following trainsets (although some custom configurations exist):
IntraTrain Unilevel Series 2
The IntraTrain Unilevel Series 2 is a unilevel trainset, and the primary trainset used on most IntraRail services. The train includes three IntraFleet 2.0 passenger cars, including two standard cars and a cab car at one end of the train, with an IntraVolt 2.0 locomotive pushing or pulling the train at the other end. The train is 73 blocks long and 3 blocks wide, with a body height of 4 blocks and a total height (including the pantograph on the locomotive) of 6 blocks.
IntraTrain Bilevel Series 2
The IntraTrain Bilevel Series 2 is a bilevel trainset, used by IntraRail primarily on long distance, high capacity express services. The train includes three IntraLiner 2.0 passenger cars, including two standard cars and a cab car at one end of the train, with an IntraVolt 2.0 locomotive pushing or pulling the train at the other end. The train is 73 blocks long and 3 blocks wide, with a body height of 5.5 blocks on the passenger cars and 4 blocks on the locomotive and a total height (including the pantograph on the locomotive) of 6 blocks. Despite being a bilevel train with taller cars than other trainsets, each trainset has the same height clearance due to the height of the pantograph on the locomotive.
IntraTrain Mini Series 2
The IntraTrain Mini Series 2 is a short length unilevel trainset, used by IntraRail primarily on short distance, low capacity services and services to stations with shorter platforms. The train includes two IntraShuttle 2.0 self-propelled carriages, and is 25 blocks long and 3 blocks wide, with a body height of 4 blocks and a total height (including the pantographs) of 6 blocks.
Pricing
While primarily designed for IntraRail and MCR, IntraTrains Series 2 are also available for sale to other rail companies.
The rights to all IntraTrains Series 2 train car models and trainsets will be bundled together for a single price of $30.
While we recommend our customers to use our three pre-configured trainsets, companies are also free to re-configure our train cars into custom configurations, including with cars from other manufacturers, so long as at least one car is a locomotive or self-propelled carriage able to push or pull the train.
When using our trains, please make sure to maintain the “IntraTrains by Intra Manufacturing” signs that will be present on most train cars upon delivery. If you wish to make any modifications to the design of a train car, other than changing the livery, please ask for permission first.
IntraTrains Series 1
IntraRail Rolling Stock Company’s original train series, retroactively named IntraTrains Series 1, was previously the primary rolling stock used by IntraRail, originally built in late 2016 and having entered service in October 2016. After over five years of use, their retirement was announced on February 13, 2022, when the IntraTrains Series 2 were unveiled, and they began retirement the following day. The trains remain in service only on a few lines, and are scheduled for formal retirement this year.
IntraTrains Series 1 are not available for sale, and the few that remain in service will soon be retired.
