The MRT Gender & Attraction Minority Association (MRTGAMA) is a server-based association for players who identify with gender or physical attraction labels that differ from societal norms. The association aims to unify various subsections of the GAM community with each other and furthermore with other players on the server and strives for equality for all players regardless of labels.

Background

The MRT server has always had a relative over-representation of LGBTQIAP players (here and hence understood as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and pansexual), to the extent of the Pride Flag having been flown, almost indefinitely within memory, at Central City and Spawn City alongside various other jurisdiction flags.

The MRT has thus, for many, long been a place where LGBTQIAP tendencies are discussed by players before 'coming out' in real life.

MRTGAMA was thus formally established as an attempt to promote discussion on this sensitive topic, encouraging those struggling or questioning to talk about their feelings, and supporting those already considered 'out'.

Projects

In promoting GAM equality, MRTGAMA has embarked upon a number of projects server-wide.

Support Institutes

As part of its outreach, MRTGAMA has established several GAM support institutes across the server, promoting the association's cause. These institutes are often solely an expression of support for the cause by the town's mayor, but equally, assist the association in outreach across the server. The first of these institutes was built in Mecklenburg, with others established soon afterwards.

If you wish to have a support institute set up in your town, please speak to tarheelscouse.

Advertising Campaigns

MRTGAMA pays advertising costs for any independent broadcaster or company who distributes material supportive of LGBTQIAP equality, ranging from sign advertisements to short TV advertisements. Many signs have been established in founders' towns; several buses in Mecklenburg, for example, contain signs which promote equality for all players.

Endorsed Projects

The following projects are not affiliated with MRTGAMA but however promote the message the association is trying to promote. These projects get endorsed by the association to promote these sites and projects as a positive force for the LGBTQIAP community.

Nippia Pridewall

The Pridewall in Nippia has come to be a significant server landmark. Players place signs and heads on it to openly come out or to proclaim being an ally. The wall is located on the south of Prideway in the east of Nippia. The project has been a huge influence for positive change, and has seen similar projects crop up elsewhere, such as in Cornus.

MRT Pride Parades

Pride Parades are held quarterly in selected cities. The first such was held in Vegeta, and MRTGAMA has selected Nippia to hold the parade on July 9th, 2016.

Advice and Support

For those who feel that their gender or attractions may not be in line with assumed defaults, you are welcome to advise and discussion with MRTGAMA representatives and associates.

It is important, firstly, that you personally understand that any attraction or gender you may identify with is perfectly natural, normal and healthy- despite what you may be told at home, at school, at work, at church, etc. For MRTGAMA associates, you are accepted as yourself, for who you are.

Moving forward from this, you may feel that you need support. Websites, books, youtube videos, and even appointments with doctors may help you identify with yourself.

Getting Involved

Like our message? Share our aims? You can help!

It's easy to promote the cause of the association. Fly a pride flag in your town, ask for an institute to be established there, or pursue your own policies- it doesn't matter!

All methods are equally valuable in promoting the cause- the cause that, quite simply, all humans are equal, irrespective of gender and attraction.
