The MRT Marina Shuttle or simply the Marina Shuttle is a shuttle of the MRT Expo Line that is a part of the New World MRT System. It connects Achowalogen Takachsin, formerly Merchant City, to the MRT Marina. The MRT Marina Shuttle is the MRT system's only shuttle. Despite debate on its state as an independent MRT Line, Frumple has noted that it is a part of the MRT Expo Line and not its own line. The shuttle was completely built before the opening of the New World.

The MRT Marina Shuttle has been subject to frequent jokes due to its existence, including gaining the nickname "Marina Shittle".

History

The MRT Marina Shuttle did not exist initially in the New World MRT plans in August 2014; however, at Tom_Pairs's request, it was later added as the MRT Expo Line did not reach MRT Marina, being labeled as Lakeshore Line and colored navy in original plans. According to Tom_Pairs, when he was building the MRT Expo Line East, he saw the nearby bay as a "great area" for MRT Marina, so he built the MRT Marina Shuttle. The navy color is still reflected in WorldGuard messages and the block used to represent this line.

The MRT plans at the January 2015 GSM included potential corridors for a "Quagmire Line" and "Lakeshore Line". The MRT Marina Shuttle was listed as a part of the Lakeshore Line corridor, with plans to go to Daneburg.

In July 2021, autobus22 and Missa_Solemnis submitted a proposal to extend the line southwestward to Central City called "Project Unshuttle the Shittle", or PUnS. For the August 2021 GSM, a document explaining the project and why it should be extended was released. It caused a considerable discussion as to whether if the extension was justified. At the August 2021 GSM, the proposal was rejected. Administrator chiefbozx noted that he would have liked to see the line extended north to serve New Phoenix or Hendon. Other MRT staff highlighted that future MRT extensions should focus on serving Zeta.

As part of the discussion on what to do with the remaining letters and names of the future MRT lines, Frumple sketched out where eight lines could be built on the New World where MRT service is lacking. Frumple noted that the MRT Marina Shuttle could be extended north up and past Hendon, labeling it "L8" and suggesting the name "Ocean".

Following the February 2023 GSM which established shortlists for the seven remaining letters, LondonThameslink took up the project of planning the extension of the MRT Marina Shuttle north to Hendon. LondonThameslink's plan took Frumple's name suggestion of "Ocean Line". His plan included the elimination of the shuttle, with a possibility to be extended up to Northernpass and further north as suggested by the Frumple's L8 routing suggestion. The plan to extend the MRT Marina Shuttle north was killed as hvt2011 did not want an MRT connection to Moramoa. As a result, L8 was not included in the final MRT line plan posted by Frumple, citing that the potential of the line was limited and that the resulting line would be short with no realistic means of expanding northward or southward in the future.

The MRT Marina Shuttle runs entirely within Ward 3 and is approximately 400 blocks long. The current travel duration for the line's entire length is approximately a minute.

The line starts at XE8, where you can transfer to MRT Expo Line for further destinations. Just after this station, the line immediately turns to the north. The line is mostly above ground, except near XE8 station and a brief section under a hill, where a radio tower lies, before terminating at XEM station. The XEM station has a unique roof design, resembling an arrow when looked from top.

The only city located along the shuttle is the Premier city of Achowalogen Takachsin, located at XE8.
