Orio (pronounced "Or-yo") is a former town located at  A24  that has been incorporated as a district into Waterville. Its Mayor is PtldKnight, and its founder is Yellowitcher.

Geography

Orio is a tribiome city (ice plain, taiga and a bit extrem hills) even if it's mostly located in an ice plain biome. The temperature may fall until -10 degrees C in winter. Orio has no natural direct fresh water source, thus fresh water is brought by the Orio-Waterville Canal which is also the border between both cities. Electricity is provided by a dam located next to the canal. Orio's territory is mostly flat, but there are a few hills in the west. The city is also extending a bit to the south on extrem hills.

History

Origins

Orio's history began in December 2014 when Thechamallow99 (then a guest) met another french guest named Sanguipe. They talked and decided to found an SMP at  A24  once they would have got member. Thechamallow99 (who just changed his name into Yellowchamallow) found a way to claim  A24  by writing with snow, using a glitch. However, Sanguipe became inactive and never came back. The project was then abandoned and Yellowchamallow founded Xilia instead.

Foundation

Almost one year had elapsed when Yellowchamallow, who finally changed his name to Yellowitcher, got [Mayor] for his city of Xilia in October 2015. In a first time, he thought about founding a city at  ZN8  but he finally sold it to the_blockmaster, who founded the town of Hobelt. Then, he remembered the plans he had made for  A24  and decided to found his city there. The city was originally named "Aledra" (name proposed by Omricon) but the name was finally changed into "Orio".

Conflict with Armada, the foundation of Waterville and the birth of Polaris

During the following days, Orio started growing, and there was someone who was unhappy with it: ArdyArd. Indeed, the mayor of Armada had plans for the land and wanted his city to extend to  A24  and even  A23 . Then, he proposed to create an SMP which would become Polaris.

When Orio was founded, the mayor had plans to extend it to  A23  which is very close to  A24 . However, he met PtldKnight (then named _Ptld) who asked him if he could found a city at  A23 . Yellowitcher agreed: Waterville was born and joined the SMP project.

A slow growth

After its foundation, Orio knew a very slow growth due to the mayor working on other projects such as Xilia. Orio quickly became very inactive. ArdyArd who wanted the SMP to become true asked Yellowitcher to work more on it, however Yellowitcher was really bored with the town and had no serious projects for it. In November 2015 he decided to sell Orio to ArdyArd and founded the city of Lutetia in the southwestern corner of the New World. However, ArdyArd said that he didn't want Orio which made Lutetia illegal. Then he thought he should give it to PtldKnight but ArdyArd convinced him to keep working on Orio. The issue of Lutetia still wasn't solved, therefore Yellowitcher gave it to bestmate66 who finally gave it back in April 2016. The status of Lutetia remained uncertain until players were allowed to have as many towns as they want in late 2016. Polaris was founded but without Ardyan. Then, Soleurs and Earack also showed their interest in joining, but finally changed their minds, which led PtldKnight to dissolve the SMP.

New Horizons?

In late 2016 Orio got its first third rail connection thanks to Autobus22's RaiLinQ. Then, the mayor decided that the city would get [Mayor] and was endorsed by AP_Red. Since Yellowitcher had gone inactive for several months, the city was sold to PtldKnight on February 28, 2018 and eventually incorporated into Waterville.

Buses

In early 2016 PtldKnight proposed to have a bus line serving Orio and Waterville but the idea hasn't been realized yet. In December 2016, Soleurs proposed to make a bus line linking Horizon National Airport to the cities near the airport, which includes Orio. The mayor agreed and a bus spot should be created in the city center.
