MRT Universe Map - Recognition

Falloway Geographical Office's MRT Universe Map is completely theorised. We know that Minecraft's terrain generation is infinite and that's not how the world actually connect. However if you'd like to formally recognise this map for whatever purpose you may have for it, it'd greatly increase the value this map has. Feel free to note down your city or organisation's recognition in the table below.

Town, City or Organisation Additional Notes
City of Falloway
Inchmuir Space Agency
Beaufort
Lacledic Republic Lacledic Republic in this case refers to those cities across both worlds owned by jphgolf4321, not to be confused with the SMP of the same name on the New World.
Elecna Bay
Sealane

Freedon The city of Freedon

FGO Official Naming Guidelines and Proposals

The Falloway Geographical Office (FGO) is looking at the possibility of adding names to certain geographical features (such as oceans or lakes) on the MRT Universe Map. Any names that do get put on the map won't be server official names, only names recognised by the FGO and its supporters.

Looking at the discussion taking place, the FGO has put together naming guidelines as a suggestion to how to go about proposing the naming of a geographical landmark.

Naming Guidelines:

  • Broad names based on geographical features or cardinal positions are more likely to be accepted (i.e. West Ocean, The Great Mesa).
  • Areas named after town(s) can be considered but the name must be widely recognised by all town owners within/around that area.
    • Areas named after town(s) are more likely to be accepted if recognised by MPOs and/or have a history of being known by that name.
  • Geographical areas named after players or real life locations will unlikely be accepted by the FGO.

Current Recognised Names:

Geographical Feature Location Justification (Recognised By)
West Ocean New World Recognised by the West Ocean Partnership
Western Ocean Old World Recognised by the Western Ocean International Airport
West Lake New World Recognised by the town Mayors of Xandar, Vekta, Vermilion, Kenthurst, Union of Central Western Territories and more.

Current Proposed Names:

Only Falloway Geographical Office can update this table:

Geographical Feature Location Proposed By (Town/City/Organisation) Reasoning
Northern Expanse Body of water North of the Universe Map Falloway Geographical Office Beyond the WorldBorder. Originally mapped out by the Falloway Geographical Office.
Eastern Expanse Body of water East of the Universe Map Falloway Geographical Office Beyond the WorldBorder. Originally mapped out by the Falloway Geographical Office.
Western Expanse Body of water West of the Universe Map Falloway Geographical Office Beyond the WorldBorder. Originally mapped out by the Falloway Geographical Office. This is the body of water that connects West Ocean to Western Ocean.
Southern Expanse Body of water South of the Universe Map Falloway Geographical Office Beyond the WorldBorder. Originally mapped out by the Falloway Geographical Office.

To be Assessed:

Important: Please use other parts of this page to propose and discuss naming ideas first. If you believe a geographical area has sufficient recognition to warrant further backing by the FGO, then please state the name and the organisations backing this naming proposal. You must have discussed this name before submitting a proposal.

MRT Universe Map - Naming

Could their be an arm where you can submit names for features on the MRT such as Points and Bays? Geobros429 15:44 (UTC)

My plan was to give a few generalised names to oceans (and let players correct me if they name it otherwise) but its up to the player or players to name their areas or geographic areas of interest (e.g. Elecna Bay and West Ocean to name two). To name something all you've got to do is get other players to agree with that name. This map idea is an example of putting an idea out there and seeing if it sticks. I guess you could put suggestions for names of things under this section and people can comment on it but I'll only add names that are widely agreed upon. Thomasfyfe (talk) 12:08, 24 August 2016 (EDT)
I agree with this idea, but I think if we name something the same as a city, like naming the body of water west of Elecna Bay the same thing as the city, it will probably cause confusion. Ben6331 - Mayor of Ben Nation and Director of Towns and Cities since 2015 (talk) 12:54, 24 August 2016 (EDT)
I don't actually know what that bay is called, I'm just assuming the city is named after the bay, it was an example. Thomasfyfe (talk) 13:01, 24 August 2016 (EDT)
The old ocean now lake just east of Elecna Bay will most likely be named Elecna Bay due to it being the largest and one of the first cities on it's coastline - mine_man_

Naming Proposals

I have a few naming proposals in mind. They are:

  • To name the lake between Kenthurst and Vermilion Lake Vermilion.
  • To name the mesa biome which gives the Mesa Line its name Grand Mesa.
  • To name the mountains northeast of C5 Station St. Anna's Range after the town built to their northeast.
  • To name the strip of water north of Airchester and south of ES3 The Straits of Epsilon.
  • To refer to the bodies of water near the Hummingbird Islands, Airchester, Mason City, and Farwater (on the eastern side of the continent) The Great Eastern Seas and refer to them as such:
  • The sea north of AT and Covina: Paris Sea (after what Tom_Pairs's username is supposed to say)
  • The sea northeast of the Hummingbird Islands and Mason City: The Sea of Draco (in honor of Soiled Solitude's mayor, Benie)
  • The sea west of Airchester and east of Covina: Solarion Sea (after the city that lies on its northern shore)

Feedback is appreciated, of course. jphgolf4321 (talk) 14:51, 24 August 2016 (EDT)

The lake between Kenthurst and Vermilion already has a name and page, West Lake. Camelfantasy (M e h) 14:54, 24 August 2016 (EDT)
But that name's boring and unoriginal. Lake Vermilion has a better ring to it.jphgolf4321 (talk) 18:42, 24 August 2016 (EDT)
Choose names that aren't attributed to certain things so no one can be like "I OWN THIS NO TOUCHING" for example I like the name like West Lake cause it doesn't attribute it to one city. MinecraftYoshi26 (talk) 18:43, 24 August 2016 (EDT)
Quick note, the West Lake thing shouldn't be Vermilion cause that kinda shuns the rest of the towns really... MinecraftYoshi26 (talk)
I think the names are pretty good, but I have a few different suggestions. Instead of Lake Vermilion, Why not some like Lake Ventchapel whic is Vermilion,Kenthurst, and Whitechapel combined.Or for the straits maybe the Straits of Seschester,or something to that effect? Geobros429
For the area north of airchester i woul just call it the Epsilon Channel or something, because that is the name of the land region, not the name of a city. - mine_man_
Please guys don't name places after the biggest city you find near them! Frozen already gave a name to the West Lake: Corona Lake. (Go to whitechapel's page to see). I also suggest Epsilon Strait and Epsilon Peninsula rather than Sesby Strait. The mesa is the only one so the "Grand Mesa" should work. And mega taiga could be the "Grand Taiga". For the island that gives its name to the island line, Tribiome Island is good for me (even if it's not an island anymore thanks to EBI xD). -Yellowitcher
Tribiome Island is what I usually refer to it as, I will hopefully make a canal around EBI to make it an island again :P - mine_man_
A dynmap glitch last week revealed Triobiome Island to be a Peninsula :P Camelfantasy (M e h) 12:20, 25 August 2016 (EDT)
I would like to rename the lake that Birdhall Port is connecting to be named "Deimos Lake". - - soso123 - that one guy who keeps complaining about broccoli (Is this a page about copying polar bears from Sedna?)
I changed the strait name in my proposal to "The Straits of Epsilon" jphgolf4321 (talk) 11:01, 25 August 2016 (EDT)
I suggest we name the big Mesa Island "Juwha Island" after HanSangYoon's city. Maybe we could also name something "RLcrafters". I agree with soso Deimos Lake is good.

Naming the Mountains around The Waterville Area (A21-A23) the Waterville Mountain Range or Waterville Valley due to Waterville Being the only major town that is in the range/valley. --Ptld | "That is our Comment, We welcome Yours." ~Fred Nutter (talk) 12:55, 25 August 2016 (EDT)

Maybe "Artic Highlands Range"? -Yellow
I think just "Arctic Highlands" sounds better. jphgolf4321 (talk) 14:40, 25 August 2016 (EDT)
I found out that the extreme hills where Phos City is located at looks like China. Can it be renamed "Chinese Hills"? Also the plains biome where Freedon is at looks like wings. Can it be renamed "White Wing Fields"? And can the peninsula Marsius is at be renamed "Mesa Peninsula"? - soso123 - the one that keeps complaining about broccoli (is this a page about copying polar bears from Sedna?)

EDT)

I think we should keep IRL countries and land/water features away from naming MRT land/water features.
The river between Xilia and Cornus is named Luxemburg River after the country located between France and Germany. The river between Daneburg, Helix Bay and Kolpino is named Moreau River. -Yellowitcher
I propose the name of the bay between Whiteley and Zaquar to be Keighley Bay after the island North-East of Whiteley.

The Mountain should be Arctic Highlands jph but I still think the valley within them should be Waterville Valley, since the town encompasses all of the valley

I agree! -Yellowitcher
Gonna reiterate myself, we shouldn't name things based off of one city there, because it is a) biased toward one city and b) could lead to over claiming of territories. Names such as Grand Mesa and West Lake are fine, naming it after an island from one town wouldn't be a good idea. MinecraftYoshi26 (talk) 16:03, 26 August 2016 (EDT)

Satellite Images

In March 2016, the geographic satellite CH-1MP spotted what seemed to be 2 islands between Greater Accerton and a jungle biome: [1]. The satellite requests the Falloway Geographical Office to map this geographical information accordingly. Chimpeh - Gimmeh da bananas now! :D (talk) 14:09, 24 August 2016 (EDT)

Thanks for the info. I've got a few of these types of screenshots myself. I'll use your info (and my own) in the first map revision. I'll do updates in batches every now and then. Thomasfyfe(talk) 15:05, 24 August 2016 (EDT)
Please note: They get cut off and unrendered since they're usually world edit errors, and as the server updates and it gets chopped off, the terrain changes. MinecraftYoshi26 (talk) 16:05, 26 August 2016 (EDT)

Dynmap Glitches

Hey Fyfe! I was wondering if we could take screenshots of the glitches that often appear on the Dynmap. By putting our screenshots together we could know what there is beyond the world borders! -Yellowitcher

Please note: They get cut off and unrendered since they're usually world edit errors, and as the server updates and it gets chopped off, the terrain changes. MinecraftYoshi26 (talk) 16:05, 26 August 2016 (EDT)

Wait to create pages

Hey guys, I'd wait for these places to get an agreed upon and Office-approved name before going and creating wiki pages for these regions or landmarks minnesota is the best, except for when shadowboarder isnt in the state (talk) 22:39, 25 August 2016 (EDT)

Technically the wiki pages would apply to the server; the FGO's recognized names don't officially apply to the server. Camelfantasy (M e h) 22:40, 25 August 2016 (EDT)
Good point but I still believe a name should be agreed upon at least by the jurisdictions of said region before a wiki page is made shadowboarder - every rose has its thorn (talk) 22:47, 25 August 2016 (EDT)
