XXV TacoBurritoAThon was the twenty-fifth iteration of TacoBurritoAThon. It was held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, in Miu Wan. Team Taco won the event 4-1, having won every event other than the opening event of American Football.
Bidding
Bidding for TacoBurritoAThons in the Summer 2023 was opened on April 16, 2023 and closed on April 29. All four Applicant Cities in Ellerton Fosby, Hendon, Miu Wan, and Waterville advanced to the Candidacy stage. Notably, Miu Wan was the only city owned by a player who did not previously host TacoBurritoAThon. Hendon had hosted XIX TacoBurritoAThon, Waterville had hosted XVIII TacoBurritoAThon, and Ellerton Fosby's mayor, AP_Red, was also the mayor of Whiteley which hosted V TacoBurritoAThon.
On May 12, 2023, it was announced that Miu Wan and Ellerton Fosby were awarded XXV and XXVI TacoBurritoAThon, respectively. On May 21st, it was announced that XXV TacoBurritoAThon would be held on June 10th. This marked a return of hosting TacoBurritoAThon at a time friendly to those living in East Asia and Oceania; the last such TacoBurritoAThon was XXI TacoBurritoAThon in 2021.

XXV TacoBurritoAThon will begin at 14:00 UTC. In other time zones, this is:

The form to reserve a slot to play will close 30 minutes prior to the event. Filling out this form is not required to play, but it guarantees that one will have a slot. This form can be found on Discord.
The Roll Call for players will take place 5 minutes prior to the event in the voice chat for the TacoBurritoAThon Discord server. Attending roll call is mandatory for those who wish to "show up and play" without filling out the slot reservation form. Those who have reserved a slot are encouraged to be present at the Roll Call as well.

Lead-Up and Pre-Event Notes
Commissioner Skelezomperman submitted the official proposal for server funds on May 28th, 2023. As part of the proposal, it was announced that sponsorships would not be collected for XXV and XXVI TacoBurritoAThon. Skelezomperman cited that it was "too much overhead to handle" and that sponsorships were "unpredictable." The proposal included a $1200 prize to be split among the members of the winning team and a $500 compensation for the host city. It was approved two days later on May 30th, 2023.
This was the first TacoBurritoAThon after the hiring of SimonScholar as Deputy Commissioner. SimonScholar was hired in October 2022 to assist the Commissioner in various duties. He helped in both the host selection process and the preparation for XXV TacoBurritoAThon. He was also present during the first half of the event; he had to leave midway through due to an Administrative Staff Meeting.
No venues were specially constructed for this event. The three venues used for XXV TacoBurritoAThon were previously used as part of the January 2022 MRT Winter Games. This was the first time in several years that open water swimming was used instead of a traditional closed-circuit swimming arena.
Summary
Opening Ceremony
Roll Call took place a few minutes before the Opening Ceremony. Three of the four players who previously reserved a slot were present at Roll Call. Three other players joined them. It was decided that ItsNotJasper, Lexie9076, and TheAllRounderMC would be assigned to Team Taco while DDaniii_, LondonThameslink, and Minecraft252 would be assigned to Team Bacon. As this was an odd-numbered TacoBurritoAThon, Team Taco was officially the home team. Thus, Team Taco wore a brown jersey while Team Bacon wore a white jersey.
The Opening Ceremony was held at Po Hang Stadium. It featured a speech by Commissioner Skelezomperman to open the TacoBurritoAThon. HarborRandom852, the host, was not present as he was late due to events taking place in real life.
American Football
American Football immediately followed the Opening Ceremony at Po Hang Stadium. This was an unusual scheduling as this event is normally either the final or penultimate event in TacoBurritoAThon; it was done to give American Football a slot where there was less chance of being made irrelevant.
Team Taco called tails on the coin toss. The coin was heads, allowing Team Bacon to choose to go first for each round. Team Bacon initially chose to have LondonThameslink as the quarterback and DDaniii_ as the receiver while Team Taco had Lexie9076 as the quarterback and TheAllRounderMC as the receiver. Bacon took a 1-0 lead after the first round partially due to TheAllRounder misunderstanding that the aim of the sport is for the receiver to be hit. Minecraft252 substituted for DDaniii in the second round while ItsNotJasper substituted for TAR; in that round, neither team scored. DDaniii returned to his original position for the third round while Jasper remained as receiver for the rest of the match. Bacon scored in each of the three remaining rounds while Taco only scored in the fourth round. Thus, Team Bacon won 4-1 and they took a 1-0 lead in events.
Spleef
Spleef, the next event, took place at the spleef arena in Olympics Park. The spleef was a best-of-three format featuring all three players for each team. The Commissioner made the choice to allow all players to participate even though the field was the MLS minimum regulation size (i.e., 21x21).
In the first round, both LondonThameslink and Minecraft252 were quickly eliminated for Team Bacon while TheAllRounder was eliminated for Team Taco. DDaniii_ was able to cause an islanding and thus a drawn round; however, he was unable to overcome the 2-on-1 disadvantage. Team Taco won the next round in similar fashion. As a result, Team Taco won the spleef 2-1 and the events were tied 1-1.
Sumotori
Sumotori took place at the sumotori arena in Olympics Park. The sumotori tournament featured four players, two from each team. The two preliminary matches were each a best-of-five while the finals match was a best-of-seven. It was decided that ItsNotJasper and Lexie9076 would play for Team Taco while DDaniii_ and LondonThameslink would play for Team Bacon.
In the preliminary match for Team Taco, Jasper swept Lexie 3-0. Then in the preliminary match for Team Bacon, DDaniii defeated London 3-0 on knockout. London was knocked out in the third round (i.e., he was killed), meaning that Daniii automatically won. The finals thus featured Jasper representing Team Taco and DDaniii representing Team Bacon. Jasper won the first two rounds of the match. Then, he knocked out DDaniii in the third round, automatically winning the match 3-0. This meant that Team Taco took a 2-1 lead in events.
Swimming
Swimming was done in a specially-designed course in the east of Miu Wan. It was originally designed for only two participants per team. However, as a spur-of-the-moment, Commissioner Skelezomperman edited the course so there could be three participants per team. It was designed as a relay course with two platforms where teammates were meant to swap.
Initially, it was decided that Team Taco would have ItsNotJasper starting, followed by TheAllRounderMC on the second leg, and finishing with Lexie9076 on the anchor leg. Meanwhile, Team Bacon had DDaniii_ on the first leg, Minecraft252 on the second leg, and LondonThameslink on the anchor leg. Team Taco won handily due to Minecraft252 being unable to sprint-swim. After protests from Team Bacon's other members, the Commissioner decided to re-do the swimming to "protect the integrity of the event." The course was returned to its original format of only two players per team and the course being split roughly halfway between legs. In the second, final Swimming race, Team Taco chose to have ItsNotJasper followed by Lexie9076 while Team Bacon had DDaniii_ followed by LondonThameslink. This race, while significantly closer, was still won by Team Taco. As a result, Taco clinched the event win with a 3-1 lead.
Marathon
Marathon, the final event, was held on a long winding course. The course began at Miu Wan Tseng Tsz Leng International Airport and ended near Miu Wan Luk Hom Station in the central business district.
Marathon was an unfettered disaster for Team Bacon. Two of the team members did not finish the course: LondonThameslink resigned partway through the Marathon for personal reasons and Minecraft252 resigned in order to reach the closing ceremony faster. The third team member, DDaniii_, suffered from internet issues and thus finished fourth in the race. As a result, Marathon was handily won by Team Taco.
Closing Ceremony
The Closing Ceremony was held at Po Hang Stadium. It featured speeches by Skelezomperman, the Commissioner, and HarborRandom852, the host. The event ended at approximately 15:45 UTC, meaning the event lasted about 1 hour 45 minutes.
