Help:Syntax

This wiki might be slightly intimidating to edit right away, since if you click the edit box you might see a bunch of code. That's because MediaWiki - the software that the wiki uses - has a special syntax that creates the formatting you see in articles. This page will explain how it all works!

Basic formatting

Typing text in the box will render it in plain text. Whoop-de-doo. To make a line break there are two ways: either hit enter once, or use <br>. Paragraph breaks are made with two presses of the enter key.

If you want to make text bold, you put three single apostrophes on both sides on the text you want to embolden. For instance, '''chiefbozx''' is a senior administrator on the MRT server becomes "chiefbozx is a senior administrator on the MRT server" when rendered in the page.

Similarly, to italicize text, use two apostrophes: Mind the gap! becomes "Mind the gap!".

If you want to combine them, you can (it's five apostrophes). HTML/web nerds - treat them like <b> and <i> tags (fun fact: you can actually use these tags in pages).

Need to underline or strike out text? Use HTML tags <u></u> and <s></s>.

If you want to make superscript or subscript text, use tags and .

Links

The wiki works wonderfully when (Alliteration +4) pages are linked together.

To link to another page, surround the destination page's name with double brackets: [[SCTC]] links to SCTC.

If you want to have the link display a different title, use a vertical pipe (|): [[MRT Version 5|MRT Epsilon]]links to MRT Version 5, but looks like MRT Epsilon.
