Lag Tag

Lag Tag is an event hosted by HarborRandom852, it is roughly inspired by the game Jet Lag.

History

Ideas of a Jet Lag-like event appeared in early 2023, with both Harbor and ItsNotJasper considering hosting their own versions of it. However, while Jasper's proposal was more orthodox, Harbor envisioned a tweaked version that kept the original spirit of the game but with heavy liberties. Although the idea evolved to be more similar to The Amazing Race, it was still very distinct.

Description

Teams of 2 compete to finish challenges across the MRT while a team of hunters chase them. Each challenge has a different amount of points while the winner is the one with the most points at the end. In Season 1, players were limited to certain mode(s) of transport but this was changed in Season 2.

Basic rules include no cheating, being in Gamemode Survival, access to Wiki but not Dynmap (unless you're a hunter) and the ban of camping.

Seasons

Season 1

Season 1 was held on March 25th 2023, seeing 4 teams compete: ReallyTuck and ItsNotJasper, AwesomeMarbles and TheAllRounderMC, Tom_Pairs and Micha and Aqua who competed alone. STthecat and Zuoj were chosen as the hunters although ST left early leaving Zuoj as the solo hunter for most of the game. The event began in Calistern in a house just south of the town.

In addition, Harbor accidentally spilt water on his laptop leaving it unable to be used. This led to Hightech having to co-host while Harbor tried to coordinate from his phone.

As all other teams were eliminated, ReallyTuck and ItsNotJasper were the winners having arrived in Miu Wan, the finishing line of the season.

Season 2

Season 2 was held on May 20th 2023, with tweaked rules to fix the mistakes of the first season. The event saw the following teams compete: Awesome_Marbles and TheAllRounderMC, ReallyTuck and Minecraft252, Michabos and mi_aquamarine. ItsNotJasper, who had been on the winning team in the first season, was a hunter in the second. The race began at St Helena. The season was also the first to feature destinations not on the New World.

Due to ItsNotJasper's PVP skill, Harbor introduced the revive mechanic, allowing for teams to revive a dead teammate at a cost of their points. Awesome_Marbles would use this chance to revive TheAllRounderMC who later died again though the former would still manage to get to the final destination: the Space World. However, he would lose to Michabos who got there first.

Season 3

Season 3 is slated for August 5th 2023.
