The Minecartian Republic has had a long history, dating back to the 18th century.

Chapter 1: Discovery and Settlement

On February 16, 1779, Captain James Cook and his crew made landfall on several islands in the Pacific Ocean. The islands were unknown to him, and unbeknownst to anyone - even the inhabitants of the mysterious Sandwich Islands. He named the islands the Cornwall Islands, after the Duke of Cornwall. Cook's expedition would spend 3 weeks there before leaving the then-inhospitable conditions and fatefully returning to the Sandwich Islands, where Cook would be killed.

It would be ten years before anyone else came back to the Cornwall Islands. The islands would all be explored, with the largest one - York Island - having a small town established along the coast - the Hollis Swamps. It was already known to the inhabitants of the Sandwich Islands (now known as Hawaii) that the islands existed, yet they hadn't gone there because of the cold winters.

A new crown colony was established in 1795 - the Cornwall Islands. Originally a penal colony in its first two years, it later became a "colony of freedom", serving the same purpose as America in its later years, with freedoms given to peoples. It also served as a crucial British military base, as it was offshore of the coast of the Spanish Empire - and later, America. Nevertheless, it went on as a nice place, with several towns established - Robin's Hill, Inchmuir, Chuno, Prubourne, North Edge. Eventually the capital also moved inwards from Hollis Swamps to Robin's Hill, which quickly began to dwarf the other towns in size. Yet, it continued to grow - for now.

Chapter 2: Independence and Foreign Wars

The Cornwall Islands had grown, but it also started to become isolated from Britain. Britain started putting harsher and harsher taxes, as the Cornwall Islands had grown, and started to become a hub for mining too. However, the inhabitants were not happy when news finally reached the Cornwall Islands.

Britain started sending troops to the Islands, hoping to repress an American-style revolution. Ironically, it would do just the opposite - igniting one.

On October 31, 1840, in Robin's Hill, representatives of the government signed a Declaration, that made the Cornwall Islands independent. Immediately Hollis Swamps was captured, and British troops started marching towards Hollis Swamps as reinforcements arrived the next summer. They then attempted to cross into Robin's Hill - but failed. Why? The hills of Bloomington provided the best spot for guerrilla fighting, which forced British troops to withdraw. Their next plan was to make a landing at Chuno, to stop shipments from America. However, that also failed, which gave Britain - which was under threat of being invaded by America - no other choice.

On July 14, 1842, the Treaty of Washington was signed. It not only demarcated a border on Oregon Country, but forced the UK to recognize the independence of the new state. However, the name wanted to change, and "Cornwall Islands" sounded bland.

British newspapers almost immediately satirized the country. They called it the "Minecart Rapid Transit" during the war, saying that it was only good for mining resources that [supposedly] would run out fast. The rebels adopted that name with pride, and began calling themselves Minecartians, and named their new state the Minecartian Republic.

Even though the Treaty of Washington would have brought peace, it didn't. In 1862, the Minecartian troops began mobilizing to fight on the Union side of the American Civil War. The Minecartian government, staunchly abolitionist, feared attacks from a slave-filled Confederacy. Britain, fearing more disastrous defeats, stepped aside from the war when this happened, as did France, allowing the Union to win the American Civil War.

Kim Jong Un fled from conquested North Korea and sought the spiritual guidance of Saddam Hussein's ghost. He went to the MRT with ISIS by his side, and began with an attack on Zaquar, which it occupied. It went up the Zephyr Line and attacked Central City, leveling Central Park and the Admod Building. Kim Jong Un took the sword he stole from Finn and Jake back at Camp Woodpecker and stuck it into the point of spawn in Central Park, proclaiming the MRT as "Nyandia." He quickly got bored of ruling, left, and threw a pile of nukes on the place, marking the end of MRT history.

Chapter 3: Two World Wars

The MRT underwent a period of industrialization in the late 19th century, encouraged by America. By 1914 it had become a major power in the Pacific region, when World War I began. Encouraged by America and Britain, the MRT signed a pact of alliance with Japan, and in 1915 invaded German colonies in the Pacific, thereby entering World War I. Postwar, the League of Nations awarded the MRT a League of Nations charter, and Japan one too.

However, things got hazy in the 1920s, when Japan officially ended the pact. The MRT, hearing about Japan's plans, started militarizing, as it was afraid of invasion. Meanwhile more growth occurred - the capital moved to a new city, Spawn City, which became the largest city in the country, as the MRT became a major trading state.

Then it happened.

On December 7, 1941, Japan bombed a Minecartian naval base in Atlantis, an island off of the MRT proper. The next February, Japanese forces landed at Hollis Swamps. They were able to get through Spawn City with ease, as the government retreated to Robin's Hill. However, like British forces a little over 100 years before, the invasion stalled at Bloomington. However, with the techniques of World War I, trench warfare developed at Bloomington. It would be close to impossible to advance, even with new aviation technologies. The Battle of Bloomington would last for over a year. It wasn't until July of 1943 that American Marines were able to arrive at Bloomington. Then, they were able to push Japanese forces back off of the MRT, taking many troops prisoner.

The MRT was a party to the Instrument of Surrender signed by the Japanese on September 2, 1945, and then the MRT was delegated Southern Japan to occupy. Meanwhile, the MRT was also one of 52 states that were original members of the United Nations, and one of the 51 present. However, even after WWII ended, there was a new looming threat...the Soviet Union.

Chapter 5: "I—ran" From the Embassy

Star-Date 412.3: President Lorem (Socialist Pathetic Dweeb Democrat) has recently become the new Owner of the country of the MRT. He was sworn in tomorrow on top of the Welcome Center on a pile of Chief-Boz-Xers. Then without warning, the Achowalogen Takachsin Princess Babalaba-Shabalaba-Ding-Dong International Midway One MRT Sky Transit Alliance Many Gates Amazinglyb Awesome Lab World Inter-regional Lab World Plus Tax Batteries Not Included Embassy in Marblegate was overran by militants led by an evil dictator known only as Ustay Obinhoray. The prisiumms were then paraded through the streets, blindfolded with chicken feathers guarded by Astlekays with Level 3000 machine guns.

President Lorem appeared to be a weak useless sissy (Democrat) in front of the entire Central City, with a population of 10,000,000(multiplied by 0) residents. Then people proceeded to throw peaches at him to impeach him. He then built giant pixel art flowers at the center of the city. This caused Ngelaay to drive a stick through his head and remove him as a Skype contact. The nation (of 0 residents) then elected a new president, President Ipsum. Now president Ipsum was a Republican (greedy, Money Grubbing, Nuke-Happy). President Ipsum decided to hit the front line of the militants. He threatened to bomb their home, Rbanuay Raftcay. The militants refused to release the hostages.

On July 4, 2000sqrt(π), President Ipsum sent a magical train of 3000 nuclear war heads in large steel minecarts towards the capitol of Rbanuay Raftcay. The nuclear war heads then proceeded to float into the entrance of the main train station and there were no survivors. To this day, the area remains severely contaminated with radiation.

The following evening Paula Abdul made her midnight ride down Hollywood Boulevard and screamed "The Kardashians are coming." What would later ensue would undoubtably screw up the world for many generations to come.
