The Bakerloo line is a Boston Underground deep-level tube line between Kenton and Elephant & Castle stations in Boston.

History

Boston Electric Railway

Following the success of the Boston Electric Railway's Waterloo tube from Waterloo railway station to Boston's city center, plans were made for full-length deep level tube lines. Construction began in 1893, a year before the Boston Electric Railway's first full-length line. Work began at Kilburn Park (Sometimes referred to as Baker Street). The 7 year length of construction is in part due to the route that the line was constructed at. The line has three large 90 degree curves, which were difficult to construct with the tunnel shielding. The original line ran with 8 stations between Kilburn Park and Elephant and Castle.

Extension to Kenton

The Boston Electric Railway's partnership with the Metropolitan and District Railway secured dual-track usage between Kilburn Park and Kenton, as well as a future southern extension of the line, in turn for the electrification of their systems. However, any future plans for the line were scraped in order to focus on rebranding following the merger of both companies by the Underground Electric Railways of Boston.
