Pre-Raineran Era (Antiquity)

Before the Rainerans, there were nomadic tribespeople, the Nostalii. Eventually, these tribespeople founded a village where modern day Cape Nostal stands. This village has been lost to the sands of time and of the Southern Rainer Desert.

Raineran Settlement

Circa 1528, a group of Raineran settlers settled the site and subjugated the natives. The name was created as the colonial government’s only nod to the Nostalii.

Liberation

In 1796, Fork the Seventh and a group of other wealthy residents formed the SLCN as a protest group against taxes. With weapons and tactics supplied by Espi of Dev, they would storm the Tax Bureau and raise an early version of the modern Cape Nostalian flag, which caused a Raineran Federal Navy sloop to begin firing its two starboard 15mm 6-pounder cannons at the building. This caused the destruction of the building, but incited many of the Nostalii in the slums by the Bureau to join the revolution. During the bombardment, a small merchant clipper, Erroneous would sail into port. Aboard that ship was Nexurian of Rainer, and he would be inspired by the way that Fork’s militia refused to lower their flag, even as the building crumbled and Raineran troops arrived, which would lead to Nexurian’s joining into the revolutionary SLCN. Two and a half years of bloodshed and war later, the colonial council in Cape Nostal was dissolved and the provisional government, with Fork as its emperor. However, the Rainerans were still at war with the SLCN, this was only resolved exactly two years later. These two dates are why the 28th of June is a national holiday in Cape Nostal.

Fork VII

Fork the Seventh was a rich Raineran resident of Cape Nostal who thoroughly disliked the Raineran government’s policy of taking money from people who had inherited money in order to construct infrastructure. Thus, he founded the Society for the Liberation of Cape Nostal. After the liberation, he became the (tax-exempt) emperor.

Espi of Dev

Espi of Dev was an arms maker hailing from Espil. He became Fork VII’s second in command and filled the position of governor to Cape Nostal after the independence war ended.

Nexurian of Rainer

A Nostalii lawyer, he was a founding member of the Guild of Nexuriæ. Shortly after returning from a business trip, he would discover the colony in turmoil and side with the rebellion, rising to become Fork’s third. Upon the demise of the colonial government on the 28th June 1799 and the end to fighting with the Rainerans exactly two years later (28th June 1801), he would take the position of a minister in Gran Cape Nostal. After the disappearance of Espi of Dev and the abdication of Fork the Seventh, Nexurian became the emperor, leading a dynasty that still survives…

In the modern era, Cape Nostal is still as novel as it was just post independence.

Cape Nostal is located at the westernmost point of the Rainer Peninsula, northwest of Cape Rainer and westsouthwest of Rainer Bay.
