Unity Party
The Unity Party (UP or in Westbeach UnP to avoid confusion with a party in said territory called the Unification Party) is a political party on the MRT. It is classified as center-left to left on the political spectrum. Currently, it has only one member, Purrcat2010. It is active currently in three states and no MPOs. Even though it had “Cattington” in the name, anyone could and still can join as it is for all of the MRT as it’s motto says. On August 4th, 2020, the Cattington Unity Party changed it’s name to just the Unity Party to make prospective party members think it isn’t just about Cattington, which it never was. The founder and current leader of the party, Purrcat2010, left the Republic of Epsilon four days later. It is not to be confused or is related to in any way with/to a Westbeachian party owned by frogggggg called the Unification Party.

- This is the ideology of the Unity Party on an international level. Among the fairly autonomous chapters of the party, ideology can vary considerably.Ideological differences are common even among individual party members due to the party’s centrist and big tent nature.
Beliefs
These are the ideas we will promote in all of the states/MPOs we are a part of. However, we accept members of all political beliefs in this party. A manifesto for the UP explaining our beliefs and mission in detail will be written in Google Drive in the near future. However, Purrcat2010 is currently slow to get it done. Do note that contrary to what it was called in the RoE (Cattington Unionist), the UP is not unionist. The name Cattington Unionist came from a miscommunication that was recently corrected.
-We will ensure that the rights of freedom of religion, speech, media, among others are protected.
-Pursuant to the previous one, we are trying to prevent discrimination in any way in the organizations we are in.
-We think that all MRT political parties (including Independents) have equal right to exist and to ally ourselves with parties with similar beliefs to ours. Likewise, we think people should use constructive criticism in political, religious, or philisophical discussions instead of verbal attacks, as those can be hurtful, intentionally or unintentionally.
-We are for the establishment, yet we feel that in order for the establishment to continue, reforms must be made that will benefit all.
-We believe that the common saying “fair isn’t equal, equal isn’t fair” isn’t accurate. Fairness and Equality are complementary and can’t exist without each other.
-We believe in a common principle of democracy that is “majority rules, minority rights”, which basically means the vote of the majority has the power, yet the same rights are given to minorities as well as the majority.
-We feel that Discord should not be mandatory for membership in any organization, for any reason, even if the reasons seem good and that reasonable accommodations should be made for those who can’t or choose not to use Discord.
-We feel that people should be able to freely change their MRT political views without penalty.
-Lastly, we feel that people should be able to freely leave/form new states/MPOs from their current MPO/State without hindrance and/or penalty.

Chapters
Party Leader's Note: Some information in this section is roleplay and lore, some of it is true. Also, this list includes defunct chapters.
With influence from the People's Party, the Unity Party has multiple chapters in countries around the MRT. All chapters are part of the Convention of Parties for Unity, which is the international arm of the Unity Party, run by the party leader themself. Do note the chapters are generally autonomous and can have variations between themselves and the party as a whole beliefs, they can even freely merge and form coalitions with other parties that are self-contained without affecting the entire party MRT-wide, as long as the other party is okay with it. This means that the Unity Party chapter model is the most liberal of all the MRT.
Kingdom of Cattington
The Unity Party was founded originally in the Kingdom of Cattington as the Cattington Unity Party in 1930. It grew moderately fast and in 25 years it gained the majority in the Cattington Congress and still maintains this today, though it has renamed itself to the Unity Party to make it more suitable for international politics. Although tradition states that the monarchy of Cattington should be as apolitical as possible, the royal family expressed favor for the party. The Unity Party in the Kingdom of Cattington has shifted slightly more to the center of the political spectrum as some conservatives and monarchists have joined the party.
Republic of Miasto
The Unity Party had a chapter in Miasto since the early days of the Republic, due to Cattington occupying it after the Miasto Civil War and later influencing Miastan politics further with the Millennium Transitional Government, so named because it was started in the year 2000, three years later, the Republic of Miasto was released from being the Kingdom of Cattington's puppet state, which it had been under the Millennium Transitional Government, making it a fully independent state while still having positive, if not that, then neutral diplomatic relationships with it's former puppet master. Shortly after this happened, the Constitution of the Republic of Miasto entered into force. The Unity Party Miasto Chapter was initially a minority party, though still having a large membership, then the party merged with the almost equally sized Centrist Party of Miasto to form the Party for Unity and Centrism of Miasto, or informally Party for Unity and Centrism and United Centrism Party, this gave it the majority in both the Miastan House and the Senate of the Republic of Miasto Congress over the previous majority party, the Social Democracy Party of Miasto. The Party of Unity and Centrism of Miasto still is the majority and is nominally still a Unity Party chapter despite growing into a powerful party in it's own right.
Colony of Westbeach (Part of the Republic of Norwest)
The Unity Party in Westbeach's situation is complicated. It does exist as a chapter in said nation, but it is currently not represented in parliament. To complicate matters, there is another party in Westbeach run by frog also called the Unity Party, so the two have been confused in the past, even though they are separate and different parties. The Cattington Times formally calls my party the Unity Party (Purrcat's) and frog's party the Unity Party (frog's). However, it is likely confusion will still happen even then. Ideologically, it is identical to the beliefs held by the Unity Party on an international level.

Joining the RoE
On January 13, 2020, the Socialist Kingdom of Cattington formally announced joining the Epsilonian Republic as the Autonomous Kingdom of Cattington with the UP as it’s political affiliation. In the Epsilonian Republic, the party was under the name Cattington Unionist, which originated from a miscommunication with ModernArt, the President of the RoE at the time Purrcat2010 joined and was recently fixed, and has eight seats in the Parliament of the RoE.
Joining the RoE’s Freedom Coalition
Near the end of January, the Cattington Unity Party joined the Freedom Coalition after a voting session by said coalition members. On the Llama Libertarian Party talk page, Purrcat2010 expressed his gratitude for his request to join being approved. However, in the past month or so, Purrcat2010 discovered that for reasons unknown to him currently, the Unity Party was no longer in the Freedom Coalition on the Epsilonian Republic wiki page.
The RoE Presidential Campaign of Purrcat2010
Near the beginning of February, Cattington Unity Party leader Purrcat2010 formally announced his intentions to run for RoE Presidency for the April 2020 Election. Purrcat2010 will ensure Discord won’t be forced at any time and help accommodate those who choose not to use Discord or can’t access it for whatever reason, and bring UP values to the top of the RoE (see the Beliefs section of this page for a full list of all Purrcat2010 is campaigning for). However, this doesn’t matter anymore because Purrcat2010 lost the election (came in last with only two votes for him) despite his best efforts. As of now, Purrcat2010 hasn’t announced if he will run for RoE President again.
Possible Merger With Progressive Party
While Purrcat2010 was campaigning for RoE President, ModernArt brought up the issue of merging their respective parties. Purrcat2010 said he will consider it depending on how he did in the election. This means a merger is likely. However, ModernArt’s past negative actions in and out of the RoE may impact Purrcat2010’s final decision regarding this matter (I do not mean to upset Modern in any way, nor do I have anything against Modern). More recently, Purrcat2010 tried contacting the new leader of the Progressive Party, Canadian_K9 (now has a new username). However, due to said person not responding, Purrcat2010 has called off the merger deal with the Progressive Party.
Westbeachian Parliamentary Campaign
On July 2, 2021, Purrcat2010 announced his bid for parliament. The platform he is running on is to end the confusion between frog's and his Unity Party. Purrcat2010 hopes to do this likely by if elected, introducing a resolution in parliament saying that when there is a need to distinguish the two parties, his Unity Party will be called Unity Party (Purrcat's), abbreviated as UnP or UP(Purrcat), and frog's Unity Party be called Unity Party (frog's), abbreviated as UP or UP(frog). In addition, Purrcat2010 also wishes to bring and push the beliefs and agendas of the Unity Party in the Westbeachian Parliament.
